Jack's service over he returns to the astral plane. <sv> "Hang on Blackout, I got something that will help you." Shade puts his hand on the dwarfs head slowly works up a imp invis spell. Blackout felt a weird as the tingle worked up his spine and before he knew it, he could look down and not see himself. <sv> "Check for ultrasonics, I can help with that too if need be." He tuned to the group. "Their only knocked out but I graded some plastic restraints before we left, 4 living ghouls will fetch a nice price on the black market, you really sure you wanna blow all that money? We can easily grab them on our way out." He grinned for a moment. <ev> "Even ghouls have a hard time of braking out of a hog tie."

Ron glances at the ghouls as overhears Shade... "I just hope that your greed doesnt come back to bite us in our collective asses..." he says as he lets the revolver hang on his shoulder.
Pulling out his semi auto pistols again, he looks back the way that theycame from, just to be sure no one wanted to surprise them from behind ,and turns off his smart link, so it wont go ape with the two pistols.

Fade keeps looking both ways , scared he might miss something. Just rubber necking with his eyes wide open, having to force himself to blink so he doesn't miss anything.

<sv>"I agree Hunter-" Everyone looking back and forth made Shade paranoid enough to do it a few times himself, remembering that he has all his watchers watching the groups back for incoming danger.<sv> "-so if you want I can cut off their hands and feet and heal them over, leaving only stumps for them to worth with."

with the ghouls dealt with - Shade does his stuff on Blackout - looking at his hands in the glow of the heavy lamps Blackout is disturbed as he can only see a feint outline of where his hands are and then only if he concentrates (Blackout will have enough capability to notice unusual things - as his life will often depend on his ability to spot the tiniest changes... if he really concentrates and logically works it through Blackout could overcome the force of the spell and see himself quite clearly.. while others would not notice him! A host of petty crimes flicker through Blackout's mind and are dismissed as he gets on with the job in hand)
Blackout edges up to the railings crouching behind the ghoul - its fetid breath and the general stench from the thing creates a gagging reaction - but for someone used to hunkernig down in vile places in order to open the access hatch Blackout is able to dismiss the uncomfortable..
The cam swings across - his hands grasp the greased maglok and he gets quickly to work.. Make and model recognised - five easy ways to disable this one depending on tools or lack of.. two easy-break points for a jemmy - no connected alarm so why not use the magbuster...
The magbuster is not good for difficult magloks but is great for low to mid-range the beauty of them is they take a quick swipe a couple of seconds and the lok goes down.. great for apartment doors where you can remain standing and not attract attention. of course a set of tools and a bit of quiet will do the same.
Slap a bit of mud onto where the red ullock light will flash and there is a soft clunk as the shiny U is released.
The bars are old running vertically across the tunnel with two cross bars for strengthening. THey wil stop any ordinary physical force but concerted heavy force or specialist gear would cut/batter through reasonably quickly. the gate is set off centre with new hinges which have been generously slapped with muck. Where the bars meet the tunnel walls the gouges go deep like the ghouls have been trying to dig them out. the crete footings where the bars were originally set have been exposed whiere most of the wall crete has been torn out. The hefty lumps of rock and dirt exposed look like they would shift given time - strange that something that can rip through crete leaves the relativley easy natural sub-strata alone... it does provide astral light mumbles one mage..
the gate swings open on greasy hinges.. well used or at the very least well maintained.. feral ghouls wouldnt have the gumption to do this.. though it is common knowledge that intelligent ghouls will use packs of ferals like a hunter uses a pack of hounds..
sidling past the cam when it is on its furthest sweep will be no problem for those who have some knowledge of how to go about it - Blackout looks warily at the mages and can easily slip past the active sweep area to behing the cam.
There are no poles or bars that he can use to reach up to the camera housing - a set of electrician's step-ladders would be useful but...
anyone who does not have stealty manouvering at 3 could be caught by the cam sweep because they just aint good enough
Blackout and any others who can slide past could if you wish scout on ahead towards the source of the magic blips that Meg indicates are some 30 metres along this twisting (curse those engineers) tunnel
A lot of stuff that Meg could pick up will be stopped by the dampening effect of Mother Earth which blanks out magic - the tunnells are driven through natural earth - honeycombing the undercity.. One of the results of constant drilling is there are large swathes underground which are filled with good solid crete - foundations sunk deep down - often hollow crete boxes as the reinforced stuff is extremely strong so you dont need a lot - and the extra space can be filled with pipes conduits an the rest of the stuff that keeps citizens warm cozy and paying their taxes. This leaves a lot of the underground as man made which magic can see through like a gossamer veil. (That's the theory however ther is a lot of crap clinging to the crete which encourages slime and various growths - nice natural and quasi-natural things which magic has a difficult time trying to peer trough.)
any ideas for getting the lead-footed gangling team members past the cam? or are you nimble folk going to press ahead.. It is only 30 metres to go. One thing you could do is to leave your less lithe collegues behind until you scope out what is up ahead.. Once you know what you are dealing with they can blow the camera away and run to join the advance unit.. there are plenty of other options...
Shade's comment about crippling the ghouls brings a variety of responses .. 'just hamstring em - once the cam is down' is one reply along with a squeamish 'eeyewww'

<sv>"Move some place I can drop the spell." Since Blackout didn't need concealing anymore, shade takes several moments to work up a F5 imp invis spell on himself, he waits for his moment and keeps to the wall.

Shade's improved invisibility affects machinery as well as living sight - judjing from Blackout's description of the camera security it would be a low level system F1 or 2 and easily beaten by the strength of the spell.. noobs have a chance of bumbling their way past the IR cam sweep - but do you want to risk raising the alarm before you are ready to do whatever you are going to do...?
(out of interest I would use the strength of the security to determine how well anything would be detected analysed and reported - a security 6 would be top notch because the guy observing the readouts whether visual or data displays would be intelligent enough to follow the tiny discrepancies which can be picked up at L6... to go higher there are roumours of internal systems covering the most sensitive areas as being security 10 up to 12 which require a vast bank of computing power to monitor the huge amount of data which requires constant processing.
a really intelligent operator would not get much out of a crappy surveillance system as the system wouldnt pick up enough to provide him with data to analyse - similarly a top rate system would be pretty redundant when it is being monitored by a streetpunk who couldnt care less what was on the high spec readouts!
once you start linking a high spec system and high spec computers you have a very good security system - downside is that it costs a lot!
the semi-mobile defence turrets back at Commute are self-contained self-automated and expensive (targetting 5 with specific profiles it will ignore - which is why every so often Four-Eyes or Meg will take you round and introduce you to each bot)
the actual defenses may well have a maglok 10 as part of a low level security monitoring system - this would be typical company security - they keep an eye on stuff just enough to comply with reulations so they can playback the criminal activity to demonstrate how efficient the runners were at overcoming it in the first place!

Blackout stood underneath the camera assembly frowning up at it. He didn't like the idea of asking for a boost if he could work out his own way past the problem. He looked around, trying to trace any visible wiring so he could work out where it led, muttering subvocally as he did. "I can take out the camera from here, no trouble. Are you guys..." Obviously referring to those of them that aren't competent enough to slip past the sweep. "...okay waiting there until I manage to take out the source? If not, I'll just frag it and we'll need to get a move on." Maybe if he could find a good way to the security station he could deal with it at the source. He looked around, checking who had managed to slip past the scanner with him.

Bishop visibly flinched at the gruesome methods Shade was willing to employ in order to bring back the ghouls, exhaling through curled lips at the mention of cutting off the creature's hands and healing over the stumps.
"Just put a bullet in each of their heads and move on - we've got a job to do."
Determined to stay on task, Bishop pressed ahead behind Blackout, slipping past the camera with a well practiced, mechanical ease.

Shade shook his head at Bishop in a disappointed manner.<sv> "No guts, no glory Bishop." He looked over to Blackout "I don't suppose you could you tap into this thing and send a looped recording? It's a cliche but it is effective."
<tht> And here I always thought Bishop was hardcore, now it looks like he's just soft boiled.
((WOW! It's always been a goal of mine (shade's) to make Bishop cringe in some manner but I never thought it would be THAT easy. You made my day wombat.)

Megslides up to the side wall and slips across the blankspace while the camera turns - she is not a professional sneak but is perfectly capable.. joining Blackout behind the cam...
If anyone demonstrates difficulty with getting across the gap she will conjour a mist spirit to gently obscure them.
With the whole team across Blackout can decide what he wants to do with the cam
Bishop is taken aback by Shade's gruesome plan - another glimpse into Shade's past. The mage has referred to hunting ghouls and other dark creatures - ripping into Four-Eyes when he attempted to negociate with the vamp (even though he had n o intention of carrying that through) Uncompromising - do whatever is neccessary to get the job done - even if it takes you down a lonely and grisly path - It strikes Meg that she would not have the resolve to do what may be seen as neccessary - Hell she doesnt even condone killing. Could be she is not cut out for this sort of thing whatever this sort of thing is. But isnt that where she could make a difference by getting rid of these parasites in her manner...
Once the team is through and Blackout has decided what is best.. you reassemble in formation again cautiously making your way around the tunnel.
the detection magics indicate to the left through the wall. this has steel bar reinforcement exposed by the gashes cut in by the ghoul claws. for fifteen metres the reinforced (foundations?) run and is then punctured by a secure door.
Heavy steel with a sealed surround - set in a steel frame with a circular manual opening ring. the electrical maglok has been gouged from the side wall and there are recent very shiny scrapes on the metal frame..
Just beyond the door - there is no interference on my detection so theres a direct line from me to them - I'm picking up around two dozen standard blips I would guess are ghouls and there are four more which are blazing at the top of my readings...
this indicates there are four very powerful dual-natured entities in there though they could be spirits rather than vampires guardians perhaps?
theres a few very weak readings too - minor spirits or weak creatures
Looks like we've found what we're after. If there is anything important down here then it will be in there.
I can call up a big spirit for backup but it may exhaust me..
we need to get through the door then waste them
plan of attack please
the door is a typical heavy sealer - the sort that are used in ship partitions or sewers. Physically impressive but they tend to be used for access often in emergency so ought to be pretty easy to get through.
You have already discussed what actions you will be taking if you found a big group so it is taken that you can prepare anything prior to going in..
Meg takes the rippysticky off the UV flashpaks at shoulder level then checks the UV on the beamer. She takes a short while and locks a charisma spell onto herself. While the door is being checked out she will influence a real tough nature spirit in an attack role to 'take out the toughest of my enemies' She crunches her right fist popping the joints around the gold weave across her fist - hand to hand - she must be mad! but she does look fantastic...
magical overwatch on seven people to counter spells and magical effects.. isnt there something about ghouls howling?
nice thing about nature spirits is that if you dont succeed influencing them they dont turn on you like an elemental would.. you just suffer the drain.

"Blackout, can you use your ultrasound scanner to get an idea on the dimensions of the tunnel beyond the door? And would you be able to reprogramme the turret?"

((I spoke with braddoc about the vampire thing and this would be the 2nd time I am telling you. FE wasn't kidding about letting the vampire go.))
"We could redo that door down the hall and get our spirit's to chase them into the turret, that'll work for the feral's but not anything intelligent. We need to know how many other exits that room has, which means someones godda project." Shade looks at Mist. "Your small enough that carrying you around isn't too difficult ." He gave Mist a thumbs up "Your our best choice." He decided to tease the sprite. "Save us Obi-won, your our only hope." It was in good nature.

watch out for projecting into the sight of dual natured creatures as they would tend to notice an astral presence.. something small however may escape their notice.. may. will the Ultrasound work at distance through the doors.. It would certainly pick up the first few metres through the door.. Blackout could probably hijack the turret - giving you an extra bit of spraying power.. some well-placed grenades would be effective if you are expecting to be rushed by a mob of slavering ghouls - chunky salza! these would be a few thoughts that have already been voiced and probably trialed out back at Commute. You will have tried the peering through screens - but as well you know most of the people inside are very bright and will have noticed .. compared to peering through the walls of a street-punk den where you would have to kick them a few times before they become aware of you you are dealing with animal intelligenced feral ghouls not reknown for their powers of deduction but do have hightened senses.. and there are a lot of them. would a pack of hounds notice.. if you are not very noticable then probably not! all the best Mist! There are bound to be a couple of other routes out from this ghoul central - the Vampyre you dealt with had its escape route sorted - it diddnt seem to be the kinda creature that left things to chance. Overconfident and cunning - surely if it had anything to do with the setup here then you would expect a couple of bolt holes or ghoul access routes. once you have sorted this recce out can you note what sort of visuals you will be using - or audio.. You have trialed out using the UV as a floodlighting aid and it works really well so you would have no negative modifiers whilst using these.. while you know that UV affects the ghouls and vampyre. Meg's UV flashpaks are set to purely UV so will not register on your standard sight - if you decide to use UV goggles then you may be 'flashed' by them. anyone going to use flash grenades or something unexpected like that? If you know what you are going to use then you will have planned around it. Anything unexpected may have unforseen effects. (OOC I was quietly confident that the vampyre would have taken the lot of you out ! )
