Anyone a rigger? We could send one of those bug drones to get a look for us. Fade says to the group, but can't remember if the rigger runner stayed. He know at one time there was one guarding the students.

"Forget the cat idea," Bishop said, interrupting before anyone else could give their thoughts on the hair-brained idea "These ghouls have been feeding on scraps for months I would imagine - any morsel bigger than a rat could send them into a bloodthirsty frenzy and do us no good at all."

"These groups have most likely been eating from the carfax building for months and now aren't receiving the same food levels, so your only half right Bishop. They are still eating the rats which is clear given the low levels of rodent population, while aggressive i doubt their bloodthirsty...... yet. Avoiding a blocked conflict however is a good idea.
Not that I couldn't keep them from running. I just didn't think they would be up for it. "http

Good idea about the cat as it ought to fool most people - but ghouls can see the astral and therefore recognise the spell - but I dont know enough about what they would then do.. would they chase after a spell? we recon they would go for a juicy cat as they already chew on vermin
Blackout -youre the one with infiltration skills - got any observation equipment?
Between you there wil be at the very least a mirror on a stick - gingerly extended you ought to be able to see that the bars do indeed go wall to wall floor to ceiling - with a a maglocked double gate. the whole thing was wiremeshed over which has been ripped to shereds leaving the impression of a 1930's movie of creeper covered graveyard gates. (the city now has resyk and only the privately owned cemeteries still exist because the public city owned ones were sold off a long time ago to developers) there is a filthy metal sign KEEP OUT CORPORATION PROPERTY trespassers will be shot
anyone with a reasonable city Kn could try to match up where you are with who owns what - though the way corps can go under - this may well not belong to anyone.. though you never know.. roughly you would be on the south side of Chinatown - Renraku Arcology to the southWest and your own Industrial estate to the South East - Meg's indication of a concentration of them checked against your geomaps indicate you are moving roughly to the East.
You could go back and try to go around but there was far less detected activity that way.
Drones would be good - ghouls wouldnt 'see' the inert and unmagical things.. they might detect the movement and investigate.. you would have to investigate this too at some point.
maglocked gate - no problem
bunch of ghouls... well they could raise the alarm. ANyone with good enough sneak skills can certainly use them to get into a firing position. however only one person could happily hug the wall and expose only a tiny amount of themselves - at a push two of you could double up in the same position and should be able to drop two ghouls with suprise on your side - what will the other two ghouls do?
trying to get a couple of people over to the other side would be a difficult task - as the ghouls would have longer to spot you and ther e would be far less cover. In general the ground is roughly flat - the flat crete floor is mostly covered in rubble. Hunter with his tracking Knowledge could probably pick up quite a lot if he could see the area properly...
the bars are inbetween yourselves and the four ghouls. You could easily walk up close and just blow them away.. however you indicated you want to remain careful - not allowing them to alert the rest... Meg recons there must be a dozen or so about thirty metres away.
(in security terms you have ghoul 'guard dogs' at the gate. and the gate has an open area in front of it to make it difficult for attackers to sneak up.. with a barracks close behind )

OC:
I got Seattle Lo-cals 5 <- lo-cal is slang for locations.
Can I use my masking to trick them into thinking I'm a ghoul?

*Downtime Post*
I'd spent time digging though all the data I copied from Vampy's computer. After digging though the OS, settings and history files I started on the longer part of the job. Watching all the video, a lot of it was surveillance video, however Among those files I found another directory which seemed to contain his personal "best of" collection.
Seventeen files he carefully sorted, all of them videos of him killing his victims in one brutal way after another, they reminded me why I what I do. I decided to share it with Four Eyes.
Shade finds FE walking across the compound and lands next to him. "I got something for you." He toss's FE a optical chip. "I found some videos from that vampire's computer you should see. Watch them from start to finish and then come explain the wisdom in letting them go, with a straight face." Shade took to the air not giving FE time to say anything.

strange that you bring that up Shade - Passing the clips onto FourEyes he makes a couple of comments to you later on - one of which is 'Pity they cant be done for murder' it occurrs to you that although the scenes you see are horriffic - with the physical puinishing activities carried out by a couple of the Redneck gangers on film - the thing that you note is the victims are all still alive. None are killed. none are seen to get that traditional neck bite either.
the earliest of these horror trids goes back just over a year with the most recent just over three weeks ago.
Masking - I shall have a browse - generally masking would hide the awakened part in your aura from any who are less well versed in the arts - you would have to have some specific control over what you project into your aura in order to have it look like something different. I suspect that it is really there to provide an initiate with an ability to stop the opposition identifying then 'blasting the mage' (though when you are tough enough a lot of spells will bounce because of your higher protection anyway - but once youve been pointed out the bullets tend to get through..) It will conceal a few spells too depending on your arcane understanding. there will be ways to manipulate masking - for example I see no reason why you cannot drop it - following on from that with more effort you should be able to do other things with it as well - but that will take time and effort. Freddy can manipulate masking a little linking it to Snake as a camoflauge. It would mean he should be able to adjust his aura to look like something else especially something close by. So you ought to be able to maipulate your aura if you have good reason or paid out the cost...

Post by Blackout on Sept 29, 2009 9:29:35 GMT -5
Blackout subvocalised his thoughts. "I can crack the gate, no problem."
He looked around at the other shooters, two had been easy when they were in open ground and had the jump. Four, having to show themselves to do it, wont be. "I can probably work my way up on them for a closer shot, but I don't know how many of them I can take down before they work out what's going on."
It seemed like Bishop was right, but Blackout explored any other possibilities and tuned his hearing in to listen in to the area around the ghouls for anything of use.

Mist thinks to himself I can't silence the ghouls, but I am small and seem to move a bit quicker then some of these guys. I have the ability to conceal myself (this means you add Mist's essence to any TN to spot him.) I guess I'll give an idea.
SV Well since I'm small and can move kind of fast I could try and stay out of the way of the other shooters and cast spells as they let go with there guns. I suggest the shooters should be the ones with the fasted fire rate out of the group. Mist gives his suggestion to the group as he flies near the tunnel roof. SVOh ya I do have an area effect spell thing is it creates smoke and has a high drain level so I use it more to fire and maneuver kind of like a smoke screen attack.
Gee this is kind of fun running around in tunnels geeking some creapy ghouls I never really liked tunnels kind of worried what I might find. Main thing is try not to get too close to these creapy Ghouls. Gee I wounder if these things have any treasure stored up some where. I guess I have to destroy the ones in the way and then move forward to see what kind of treasures these things like. I wounder if I'll like the same treasures. Mist thinks to himself as he flaps above the group waiting to hear what the group decides the best course of action is.

You would not know whether people were alive in the basement - there is just not enough information. The physical evidence has been roasted and any aura has been purged. The Star dont wnt anything left that can be pinned back onto them! their backsides are covered.
you are now looking for anything thay have missed - you are now picking around on the periphery - it feels like you are searching for scraps rather than chasing anything in particular..
the ghouls are known to see into the astral and would be able to distinguish something like a construct (spell or effect) from the real deal... conceal however would take account of the terrain around you like a natural camofauge.. able to get between an outcrop and the opposition avoiding detection.. You note that the tunnell has a hight of around two and a half metres so a ghoul could jump and rake someone on the ceiling.. if it caught sight of you..
Well Blackout and Mist recon they ought to be able to get close and to one side using stealth - with Hunter and Bishop on the nearside covered by the wall that ought to allow you to cover all four. They are a little more agitated than the earlier two - hungrier? you may find out when you get that better look..
If you are going to go with this plan then the conceal should fade Mist into the background - and the small size will help conceal him. Hunter and Bishop can sidle up along the nearside wall out of sight until the last moments..
leaving Blackout to sneak across to the other side in order to gain a better sniping position. Up to you Blackout.. can we have some sneakage please..
Regards your amplified hearing.. you tune out the gutteral whines and gnashing of the four in front - turning your attention to the tunnel behind them. two short electrical whines catch your attention.. which you are able to imediatly identify. Mk II security mount (noone uses the Mk I mechanical mount) the electric motors were the reason that it got upgraded over fifteen years ago when the range of detectors all took a leap in their power. They are fine for behid glass detectors but out in the open anyone with specialist equipment will generally pick up the motor noise -or sometimes the plas teeth in the ratchet become brittle and 'tick'.
The mount is usually used for a barrel fed smg atop a sensor.. IR usually because of the cost of ultrasound for these cheap and nasty devices is prohibitive. (And juves steal them)
With a little more exertion the mirror on a stick reveals just that - a Mk II mount IR sighting and smg. The whole lot has been hidden - or attempted to be hidden behind one of the reinforcing hoops supporting the tunnel - the hanging wires and the sway of the barrel give it away.
Now you know that it is there you watch the arc it uses and know where and what it can view. problem is that it is covering the tunnel from the other side of the ghouls. This would indicate that there is some kind of feed to a processer somewhere that could take account of more IR images or less ghouls..
Thinking this through - if the ghouls decided to sleep they would stop moving - if you decided to shoot them they would appear very much the same for at least a few minutes until they began to cool off...
there are a bundle more up ahead - Meg indicates that it would be good to get past these four and see what is up there. A big concentration would mean there is an important position up ahead to investigate - you should conserve any power for then. There cant be many such concentrations - and this looks like the outer security arrangement rather than just a random checkpoint...
