OOC: I went back purposely to reread the bet and I did accomplish it. I did meet..just that it was between me and Slash plus Tony and that it was done right then and there.

Wheels had been having a rough day. First he'd missed the ork who'd shot up the van that Dom had let him use for that botched chemical pick-up run. Mostly cause of that damn guard. Then he'd lost track of Mao. Fortunately, he'd picked him up again as the kid left the old church and returned to the Jack-O-Lantern. He'd already seen Pelch go there, so Wheels had found a place to set down. It was pretty close to the Lantern, but he wasn't planning on staying long.
Then, he'd entered the Lantern to find out what was going on, since neither of the other two of his group had anything remotely resembling a communication device, only to be nearly killed by someone slinging a fireball into the bar. Pelch and Mao hitting the floor had only just given him enough warning to do the same. Running outside, Wheels discovered that his ride, a Northrup Wasp was practically melting due to a thermite bomb being dropped in the drivers seat. Pelch and Mao had had to physically restrain Bobby from trying to get close to his baby.
The rest of the team must have been on the way, cause they beat Lonestar there. Bobby had been looking around Mao's van to see if it was rigged to blow too, when Black Widow and the others rolled up. Bobby was still shaking with rage at the fact that his helicopter had gotten blown up. That was the SECOND vehicle in as many days. Not to mention his shotgun, most of his tools and two drones. The rotodrone had been returned to its storage location, and the ATT Spine that had been in his kit bag. SOMEONE was going to pay.
Bobby perception 1: [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6]
Bobby perception 2: [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6]
Maybe it was the time factor, Lonestar was probably on the way. Maybe it was the near death experience of the fireball, but Bobby only noticed one of the bombs.
When Pelch yelled under the van it startled Bobby something bad."You find anything yet?" Bobby banged his head sharply on the van frame which made him start cursing. "You fraggin DREKHEAD!" he yelled angrily. "Don't fragging yell at me I'm trying to listen for a bomb while I'm looking! Get AWAY from here you stoopid GIT!"
Pelch appeared unaffected by the retort yelled back, "They say you should cut the RED wire first.", he stated helpfully. "Or is it the yellow, or the green or the black?" He scratched his head in deep thought. Widow walked up behind Pelch from the bikes and tapped him on the shoulder, "Do you guys REALLY WANT to be standing at Ground Zero of another explosion if Wheels makes a mistake? I don't think his resume has a bomb disarm skill."
Pelch let out a "Gleep!" and turned and ran for the bikes, followed more slowly by Widow and Freddy. Under the van Wheels suddenly yelled, "Hey! I found one!" Widow started running with Freddy right behind and yelled back to Wheel's, "What KIND is it?"
Wheels hesitated looking confused for a moment then looked at the bomb and spoke angrily again, "How the FRAG do I know! The kind that FRAGGING EXPLODES, I guess. It sure is made of good material though." Suddenly the bomb started to blink faster.
AWW FRAG!!! Bobby thought to himself as he wiggled head first out from under the other side of van, scrambling to his feet and heading pelt melt for the alley. The blinking had probably doubled in rate, and he figured he had maybe eight or ten seconds. Frag, I'm not going to make that alley... he thought as he dived to the concrete.
BOOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!! Mao's van went up like a rocket. It lifted at least eight feet into the air, and as it started to descend, a secondary explosion rocked the vehicle. Bobby was fortunate that part of the blast was blocked by the car parked next to the van, though that Ford Americar was going to be much the worse for wear once they put out the fire.
On the other side of the van, people were knocked flat for about a block, and windows shattered everywhere. Mao, Widow and Freddy were knocked flat as the explosion rocked them into Widow's motorbike. The nearby children screamed as they were knocked flat, nose and ears bleeding. Henri who was coming out of the Jack-O-Lantern, was sent flying back inside, in a cascade of broken wood and glass from the door.
Pelch once again managed to hide away from danger behind a Jackrabbit, only getting slightly sprinkled from glass from the second story windows of the Jack-O-Lantern...
Picking himself up off the pavement, Bobby could only hear ringing as rough hands grabbed him and walked him over to where the others were being loaded into a large van. None of them were being handled with kid gloves either. The handlers appeared uniformly to be large Halloweeners. Bobby couldn't hear, but it seemed they were upset about their haunt being blown up...Bobby just shook his head and strained to hear what was being said, thunking the side of his head with his palm and opening and closing his mouth, in order to relieve the pressure buildup in his ears...

They pick Henri up from the debris - checking that there are no more casualties who need treatment apart from the shock..
You get anything Henri? radius of blast could tell us something - try assensing over here... if there's time before we go off with these nice folk..
What do you think Widow - shall we all jump in the van and go see Slash ? You are Dom's representative here..
Tony knows runner MO and they whizz banged us - throw a sparkler in to flush us out, disable the one transport, so we pile into the van to evade the Star, it blows. Neat, simple.
Tony is making a good guess at our reactions - probably a proximity sensor on the mine - means it was not remote detonation so theyve gone.
Sod subtlety.. These are the opening shots declaring war - showing Tony does not care who he walks through - though I'm not surprised now, I have picked up more disturbing information.
Are there any cameras in the area? Might have picked up a cybered-up chromehead who could be traced ....
Freddy indicates the ignition point outside the Lantern to Henri, and checks Wheels over - (or any other wounded bystanders.) The guy is tough, nothing more than slightly frizzled hair, and a smoking jacket (or is it a blazer and flares..)
Theres nothing he can do for Pelch and Mao's rough derascination except a minor heal that will stop the burn.
Maybe Mao's 1930's pudding-bowl cut will come back into fashion?
Widow.. do we go with the nice men or could this be more of Tony's doing?

OOC: Pelch, "Wheels that was great! The description of Mao's van going sky high was a riot! I really expected you to save it, but it does add nicely to the story line. You definitely deserve some Karma for that one.
A quick note to Freddy, "The Holloweeners don't know about Henri, Widow, Quick or you. Yet. They do know about Mao, Pelch and Wheels is not considered to be a favorite with them having some past history of antagonism with them. I strongly suggest that you do not interfere with them 'feeling our collars' as we go away. You might consider trailing them though. "
" A question for the mages that just occurred to me. Do either of you have physical barrier spells? I really need to see what spells you guys do have or fetishes for that matter. If you did, and knowing that there might be a bomb on Mao's car, could you have used a Physical barrier early on to contain the explosion a bit? Just curious, no criticism intended here. I realize hindsight is a wonderful fragging thing, but I was curious about your view on that."
Quick, you have a fast decision to make now that Wheels has past the 'think fast' decision on to you. Do you take out Holloweeners from your sniper point or not? After all, given this fast response on their part they could be working for Charles the Red and NOT Slash. Do you think Tony is capable of setting up a third level to his trap? You could ask Mao for some insight.
Now to give the others a little more posting time.
Good JOB ALL! Play it as as if you were there. Make the best decisions you can and be descriptive emotionally, morally and physically. Tony is just getting started and it's not over yet! Right now he has us dancing to his tune. Widow you better get us a plan FAST or we will keep reacting, rather than being pro-active. I bet we get Wheels trained in bomb disarm now! I bet Pelch learns to use some communications and we all get connected. I bet DOM gets a huge fragging BILL for all the vehicles that we lost and all the cleanup action. That's the BEST part.

(OOC Barrier spells will stop some blast/shot - but it has to be bigger than the full power of the attack, or it gets blown away.. and is hard to cast . Armour would be better, easier to cast less drain. Trying to cast a barrier or armour 10 or higher is by luck rather than judgement, and the drain would knock you out !)
Wodow and Freddy carry Henri out - she holds them back - allowing the weeners to cart off the still-smouldering threesome, while they slide into the crowd. Henri can get a good viewing of the ignition point now, while further plans are laid.
Henri may be able to glean more than I did from Tony's ignition point - where he (?) let off the fireball.. I think there was a heavily, very heavily cybered character with him..
be nice if Henri can confirm what I found. He's got the military background, he might have been briefed or involved in some recent assaults in Chicago. My sources should be able to shed a little light..
Be good to know whats been happening here, apart from explosions. What next - and how much do we let different people know? Dom gets the lot... what about Slash - spose thats up to Mao now.. and the snoopers at the Tomato..how much for them? I'll keep my yap shut untill you ask me to fill in specific blanks.
They stand talking iup against some scub bush an scragg trees - precious little wood so they havnt been stripped away, but provide reasonable cover. Freddy seems in keeping your head down mode.

Seeing the fireworks and then the rough handling of the rest of the group it made sense this was aan inside job Tony must be enjoying himself Quick thought no way the star got here this fast and Mao and Peltch had friends inside so this guys didn't seem on our side so with that thought....
targeting the the guys shoving the grp in the van he gets on his comm "Widow be ready to get in control of the van and make your way out fast I will cover your escape and meet up after across from the Bushy Troll catwalk and bar."

OOC Actually Pelch, I don't believe that the Halloweeners knew about me until you had me waltz into their hangout. The incident that I had with them, I was merely a driver of a Corp marked van in the wrong place at the wrong time. Most of the antagonism is on my part...I figured they'd grab me cause I was looking at the van and associating with you yahoos hehehehe...Looks like the war is on now...Good job Quick!! OOC: Pelch, "You know that, and I know that. The others didn't, but they do now. Another dastardly deed foiled again. Drat you. Oh well Quick saw through it anyway and decided to shoot them so it's a moot point."

"St." thats about all that Widow got out before she heard the first bullet shot, then let out a sigh as she drew her pistol. "What part about no war with the Wienies did you forget quick!" she said back shortly as she tried to figure out just how she was giong to pull this off. Kicking the back door to the van open, she hopped out and quickly went to her bike, looking it over before firing it up, finding no bombs on it. Then again, it was too quick to plant one at this point. Why was this day sinking farther into the Drek she asked herself as she planted a foot and spun around, "Split up, head for the hide out, make sure no one is following. That is, unless someone has a better plan"
(ooc, i cant see any dice rolls at all on this computer for some reason. by the way, im also down to about a post a week at the moment.)

OOC was that an out of character statement Freddy? or are you trying to talk over the roar of motorbikes, assorted explosions, fires, sirens, bullets whizzing by, yelling by the bystanders and assorted other background noise? Just wondering...
Appologies, Wolflet, your IC seemed incongrous to me from my point of view, since I and others have described the situation as hectic, loud, confused and noisy. Not to mention that I forgot that you had just got back from buying comms units...Also, it seemed to me that your character was acting uncharacteristic in that he was calmly having a conversation with the leader of the group, while everyone else on the WHOLE block had be described as running around confused, scared, hurt, or some other descriptor that implied chaotic...And here in the middle stands Freddy, calm as a mountain lake in the summer, unaffected by the chaos around him...
I was confused by your reaction is all...sorry if I aggrivated you or got you upset...I also replied to your PM...

OOC: Pelch, "Quick be fast and they be slow!"Lots of the GOOD Stuff happening here. Shall we take a moment to examine the actions?
The first main event to be dealt with is Quick. I must say his primary instincts are excellent in this case. He seems to have picked up some of the subliminal clues and then he had the fortitude to make the dangerous decision. (Remember Dom assigned him as overview to not only watch but protect the team? He doesn't always follow Widow's orders. He follows Dom's. His actions will NOT count against Widow or the TEAM! He obviously knows this, so he is not under the same constraint as Widow or the team is.)
First, Slash let Mao go, and we know the Weeners liked Pelch too. I deliberately planted the idea that Wheels had some bad blood with them, because I wasn't sure if it would make Quick hesitate in his shooting. After all there IS a faction of the weeners that does not like us and that is Charles the Red with his cronies. The fireball and the van explosion have told Quick in glaring terms that the kid gloves are off. Tony or Charles or someone else have decided that the team is either a threat or should be used as an object lesson.
Second, Why would Slash have an EXTRA van, hard boys and such standing around on site waiting for the van to explode? He would have had to know it was going to happen! The response time between the explosion and the actions is much to close! None of the weeners on the site already, that knows what happened, is going to even remotely blame the group because they were in the TARGET ZONE as well and they would be watching what we were doing! Blowing up our own van? Why would we do that and so why would we get blamed for it? More likely the weeners, when they get organized are going to be looking for the guys that planted the bomb!
Third, Quick has obviously also considered one more problem that colored his judgment to fire, immediately. Slash has no reason to make these attacks, but neither has TONY! Tony wanted a message, a specific message, delivered to Dom through Mao. WHY would he risk Mao twice? It seems more likely that these guys are not weeners at all but are part of a different group with a more deadly purpose.
The final blow to the logic? The group and Holloweeners have been targeted twice already....so how will the weeners know that Quick took down some of theirs, especially if the rest of us DON'T RUN! We will be likely to look more innocent, which could help our cause immensely. So Quick had every reason to pull the trigger. Quick did make the right decision and everyone might consider looking at the bodies for CLUES? The only fault I find in Quick's post is that he wasn't bit more descriptive on his technique. He is supposed to be learning to write more, not get people to write for him. Still he deserves some leeway. Now let's look at Widow's reaction. The logic is basically sound but she betrays her novice leadership ability. Widow has no idea why Quick shot, especially without orders but the harm has been done. She jumps on her bike, yells for everyone to leave and gets ready to take off. Wrong move, WRONG INSTINCT, for a good reason, from her point of view. Let's look at the situation carefully.
Mao has no vehicle, Wheels is shaking off a MAJOR concussion and has no ride, Pelch has no ride. Quick has no ride but can fade away easily enough since he shot from a distance and there is LOTS of confusion going on. It explains why Widow is not thinking clearly here. Her first impression is, OH DREK! RUN and REGROUP! It might be just what someone wants. As for the mages? Well I'll sort them out in a moment. When we see what Henri does.
Widow could give the order to withdraw but she should stay behind to make sure it is carried out. Not good to run on your chummers, especially in Intel work! They might be made to TALK! Her best move at that point was get to Wheels, have the mages get him functional. Use Pelch and Mao to clear the streets and pedestrians in case of another attack. Use the mages as protection and healing in the tavern and wait. EVEN if the Star arrives, the testimony will bear you out as innocent of at least THAT crime, and Slash will be more likely to be on your side.
Now Henri hasn't responded yet, but Freddy did. As Boombaby noted, Wolflet's writing style seems to cause him some confusion. We have to be very careful here on all sides so that we don't create the WRONG impression. This does not mean that Wolflet's writing style is BAD, just different. This is a test thread and we have to try to learn to accommodate different styles and patterns of writing. We want to expand our descriptive abilities yes but we also have to be ready to try to accommodate each other as well. Boombaby's problem is he seems to have some difficulty telling from Wolflet's style, when Wolflet is thinking as IC or OOC.
You see Wolflet, is thinking as his character and actually comes up with good thoughts and ideas but since the players are taking it as THOUGHT and not speech they can't react on it! There are several ways to make this clearer. I want Wolflet to find a way that is comfortable for him to do this with. However, the onus is also on Boombaby to make it very, VERY clear how he is being confused and to make sure that feathers do not get ruffled here. After all everyone is sensitive to certain things in a lesser or greater degree. What we may consider a normal question in writing can easily be emotionally misunderstood. Now you folks know why I write so much. Conveying the proper attitudes, emotions, respect and comment requires a lot of words, so that people can get your emotional as well as directional outlook. The upshot? If you even think someone has a problem with you player to player, talk to them! Try to iron it out and reach a compromise! Don't let it escalate into bad feelings.
So let's give this thread one more day and see if ;
1.) Anyone wants to modify their part of the thread. 2.) Add more description. (Right Quick?) 3.) Sort out the conversational confusion a bit.
Let's consider it practice before we add more. For those who haven't posted here's your chance to get in.
On the whole though, everyone has done very well. The thread has gone very well. The action is fast, rolls are used when necessary. Now the next big lesson is to improve your writing styles AND to try to start getting this team to ACT like a team.

Pelch got up from the Jackrabbit brushing off glass. Luckily his armor and trench coat had kept it out. Pelch was not surprised when some hard boy in weener colors of Orange and black motioned him into a van as it pulled up in a screech of tires. Pelch didn't remember seeing this one before. He wasn't going to get long to look at this face either. It vanished with a dull "THUD!" as a bullet slammed into the face turning it into shattered bone, blood spray and hamburger, followed seconds later by a shot of a high pitched sniper rifle.
"DREK!" yelled Pelch, "SNIPER!" he rolled under the Jackrabbit thinking, "Deja fragging VUE! That's the second time this WEEK that a sniper has killed some guy about to give me trouble." He heard several more shots. This gun wasn't as heavy as the first one he had heard, the one that took down the Lone Star Captain Nuckles. He was beginning to wonder if there was a sniper on every fragging roof down here.
Pelch couldn't see much from under the car but he did hear it get quiet and a minute later he heard Widow yell in that high, prissy, school teacher voice of hers, "Split up, head for the hide out, make sure no one is following. That is, unless someone has a better plan"
Pelch climbed out and looked around. Plan? What Plan? They didn't have time for no stinking plan! He looked at all the bodies strewn about. The sniper seemed to be done and three more Holloweeners lay dead on the ground adding to the unlucky ones from the bomb blast. That was some fragging party. The civilians had scattered out of the war zone and only some people like the bar tender and his thugs, along with the team seemed to be still around, trying to figure out where Mr. Death would strike next. He looked around for Mao, hoping that he got geeked before Pelch had to pay off, but his luck just was not with him. Mao was carrying a kid into the bar where it looked like Henri was setting up a hospital. Lone Star was roaring in down the street. Wheels was staggering around, blood running from nose and ears and looking like maybe the eyes a bit too, Wheel's was a fragging mess, too many hits to the head lately and too many explosions. Even dwarves have a limit.
Freddy was looking closely at three of the Holloweeners that had been shot. Pelch went over and hauled Wheels back into the bar by way of behind the counter where he snagged a few bottles and coming out the other side he handed Wheels one bottle of synth scotch and then reversing his route he went back outside and started to bring in the walking wounded. With the Star here it was going to be a bit before anyone would be leaving.
