Widow nods, as she moves the Cigar over towards Quick. "Interesting. However, I have a question for you. Don't you get headaches though from the cyberware?" she asked, a littel bit concerened. "Othere than that, I do like what I see." she said with a smile.
Taking another long drag, she eyes him, then lets the smoke out. "They really taste good. Now, about pay.."
She eyes freddy as he walks in. "What the hell. Bring some real stuff if you are goign to bring in some alcohol. Like Shiner Bock." she says with a grin.

"Sorry about that back needed to take care of something last minute."
Grabbing a beer he resumes standing in front of the door seeming like he had no more to say about it.

OOC: Pelch, "Looks like I need to introduce a 'wake-up' factor."Just as Wheels was opening his gob to say something, the outer door opened and a fireball trailing flames, flashed in through the door. Pelch and Mao were facing the door and saw it first and ducked under the table! Wheels asking no questions dived under a split second later. As Pelch, Mao and Wheels hit the floor, screams rang out and the fireball erupted turning the smoke laden air into an instant furnace. The flash only lasted a split second as the sprinklers came on and the smoke filled air extinguished the flames. The fireball was snuffed out almost immediately, leaving patchy, sputtering blazes on the more flammable items around the bar. One unfortunate, a waiter, had been caught in the blast and had absorbed most of the fire burst. He was a greasy, sizzling toasted carcass on the floor. Mao got up and beat out some smoldering embers on his clothes and smelling burnt hair he looked at Pelch. Red faced and cursing Pelch was beating out the last of the flames engulfing his beard. Pelch glared and pulled both his pistols and started to run towards the door, "Sum Biatch must PAY!" He screamed as he went through the door. Most of Pelch's amazing beard and hair were gone, even his eyebrows! Mao couldn't help it, Pelch looked like a Holloweeners pumpkin! He tried to control his laugh. Mao's hair had survived although his hat was a little worse for wear. Mao went over to check the body adjusting his hat. Wheels showing several burn spots, mostly on his back and shoulders, also climbed to his feet tenderly and looked around. "What the frag happened?" He growled. Wheels had never gotten a look at what went on behind him and was understandably confused.
Mao spoke over his shoulder, "This guy has had it. Somebody tossed a fireball into the room. I didn't see who it was. Pelch went outside to deal with it and several of the Lantern's bouncers and staff went too. I think Pelch was real angry at losing his beard." He pointed at the body, "Lucky for us he was between us and the blast or we would have been dead too."
Pelch came back into the Lantern. "Whoever that fragger was he must have some pretty fast feet. There's no sign of him outside." He put his pistols away and looked at Wheels. "He toasted your tinker toy outside before he tried to do us. If you had tapes and recordings their ashes now."
Wheels let out an inarticulate scream of rage and ran out the door. Sure enough his craft was burning merrily. No one was even trying to put the fire out and were staying well back from the heat. He was trying to work his way closer when Pelch yanked him back, "Not a good idea, chummer. Whoever hit it made sure they tossed some termite in with it. Even liquid nitrogen couldn't put out that blaze. Look! It's even melting your metal."
Mao spoke quietly, "C'mon guys. We need to get out of here and back to the lair. Whoever did this may take a second shot." He turned the cursing Wheels around. "You better check my ride for a bomb before we use it." Wheels nodded and went over to Mao's Van.
(Wheel's make TWO detection rolls! When you check the car.)
At the Siren, JJ walked in to where, Widow, Henri, Freddy and Quick were just starting to wrap things up. She spoke quickly to Widow, "I just received a report that an attack was made on the Jackal's Lantern. They have at least one dead body and it appears that an aircraft that sounds suspiciously like Wheel's machine is on fire. Fireman can't get it out. Reports are sketchy but you may have just lost Wheels."
Quick looked at Widow, "We better get down there fast. It sounds to me like someone may have taken out Pelch's and Mao's backup. My guess is they found Tony."
Freddy looked grimly at the Widow, "Do we have enough vehicles to take us all?"

OOC: Pelch, "Well now, looks like Wheels got out of that one. Now he doesn't have to answer that nasty question I wrote him into. All the evidence has been destroyed. Yep, that Wheels had Mao covered from start to finish. What a guy! To bad though as that is the SECOND vehicle he has had fragged over in the last 48 hours. I've been a bad boy. Looks like Wheel's lost the shotgun and the tools. This run has gotten expensive for him. Dom is going to need some deep pockets to replace that stuff. Maybe he will blame Quick. He still has to deal with Matt Rixx as well. he'll be busy a while because his work just keeps piling up."
"Widow, if you're taking the vehicles you went to the Siren in? You might want to check them for bombs too. Henri and Freddy need to give this incident some serious thought. How are you guys at magical forensics? Quick you and Widow better be ready as well for an attack."
"Sheesh Mao, you could have posted something while you were out here telling us your sick. I was tempted to have the fire burn up your hat but I figured that like our clothes, it's armored."
Now for the road-map: Wheels there are two devices on Mao's vehicle. If you find them you can name them as to type and location. I hope you have good bomb removal skills. Otherwise Mao's Van is going sky high. What you need to know as that these 'devices' are highly sophisticated, military grade explosives using items that would be difficult but not impossible for shadow-runners to get.. Good Luck, chummer.
Widow, if you folks check your vehicles your clear. I just wanted you to exercise some caution since in the NEXT Phase of the game it gets nastier and several of us, including Dom and Krass are going to be targeted for hits. You might want to tighten up a little and make our enemies work for it. You need to get a report together for Dom to close out this segment. It's time for us to get paid. Henri and Freddy, I want to see the nature of how you investigate the incident before I give you any clues. Widow, we need to get a decker. I can create an NPC one if you wish let me know where you want to go with this.
Mao, do you think you lost or won the bet? You need to decide whether to pay Pelch or not. You are also going to have to give Widow a report so that she can report to Dom what you know. Pelch will also give his report from what he learned from the decker.
After this is done we get Karma from Johnson, get NuYen/character sheets adjusted, do a final wrap up of the storyline AND THEN we get ready for the next mission. So take a look at your spending or losses on this scenario and get ready to have the updates ready for Johnson.
Start getting plans ready in your heads folks. We have to stop, then track back assassins for our next mission and then respond by taking them out! This next one could be a bloody mess. Plan accordingly when you get paid!

On their way out..
Widow an Quick are the samies and carry the official clout for us - why dont you two go on your bike - me an Henri can catch up... the comms are primed you two take one each and we can keep an open link.
In case its a whizz-bang - check your bike and careful for Tony when you get there
How security concious do you want us to be?
Once they are off on their way, The two mages grab a passing taxi - heading towards Denny Park
Henri -you mentioned forensics - this would be right up your street - I'll follow your lead, we can get out of the taxi on one side of the park, walk across under a small spirit cover we should be overlooked. - you can go to town on the forensics, we may be able to pick up a resonance and trace it down..the auras will still be fresh.. but we stick together. Whoever it was, should observe the proceedings, or even have someone lying in wait (once we visit the area we will know that it was a magical attack, we dont yet)
See to any wounded - could help with sweetening the weeners!
(A whizz-bang is used to take out concealed nests.. you shoot at the area you feel is defended, they reply with something heavier, you return fire with some form of LAW an blow em up. this could be the opening fire, we reply then they hammer us..)

OOC: Woo hoo, I got promoted & now have a hot chick working for me "Don't you get headaches though from the cyberware?""When I'm using a deck? No, there's no cyberware involved, but using 'trodes isn't even close to being as effective as someone who's jacked in." Freddy pases round the beers and fills up the Jamesons chasers Looks like you got yourself a job Henri.. Cheers!Henri replies "Thanks, but once I'm on a job I touch drink until it's over with. I used to say once the de-brief was done, but I suppose now it's when we're paid." He was well aware that if he annoyed someone enough, there was a chance they might wait until his senses had been dulled by alcohol when he wasn't working, then geek him. However, thinking like that could send a guy crazy and he'd never be able to relax. Reports are sketchy but you may have just lost Wheels.""Wheels is, or maybe, was the rigger?" Henri asks, thinking that someone named 'Wheels' being a rigger wasn't too much of a stretch. Henri -you mentioned forensics - this would be right up your street - I'll follow your lead, we can get out of the taxi on one side of the park, walk across under a small spirit cover we should be overlooked. While crossing the park, Henri stops for a moment to summon a watcher spirit in the form of a minature owl. "An hour should be long enough" he thinks. Conjuring Watcher, F2 [dice=6] [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] Drain [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] Speaking in Latin, he instructs the watcher to search the area around the Jackal's Lantern for anyone deliberatley concealing themselves and then report back to him. As they approach the burning wreckage, Henri notices an extremely slotted off Wheels stood nearby, along with Pelch, Mao, Widow and the male elf whose name he still didn't know. Despite the air being thick with the stench of burning avgas, Henri is sure he can detect a whiff of wet dog whenever the breeze alters. After being introduced and vouched for as a member of the group by Widow, he asks "What happened?" "Somebody tossed a fireball into the room." Mao answers. "Cover them", Henri says, looking to Freddy, "Our firebug chummer might still be around, I'll check the point of impact in there and give whatever I can. If you can check out here it might speed things up." To the rest of the group in general he asks "Think it's worth askin' them if they saw anything?", indicating the group of assorted rubber-neckers across the street. Upon entering the 'lantern, Henri locates the still-smoking body of the waiter in short order. Deciding that this poor soul was the most likley point of impact, he begins his astral search of the corpse and the room surrounding it. Freddy summons a F3 spirit to cover them while they cross the park - once taking a good look astrally from above and a second time towards the billowing clouds - looking for active spells or any awakened .. especially any creatures.
Using the comms Weve arrived at the park... If theres a backstop with a rifle set up, you all need to keep low given the immadiate area a good scry Henri is checking the 'Lantern' I am checking the crowd gathering.... looking for the ignition point.. anyone injured who needs help?
Freddy remains outside, close to the pub, searching for the point where the energy was mustered for the fireball, and collecting any debris that may have been left.. cigar stub, wrappers, used fetish. It doesnt take long to zero in - top of the skate pipe 50 yards away gives an excellent view of the 'Lantern' front door. well away from the impact, easy to access, easy to remove yourself from - probably a bike nearby. He checks the bottom of the pipe for debris as well, something may have been used and dropped to roll away and down.
There must have been an ID on the copter - so Wheels was noted, It was safe to assume Tony had sent a reminder - pop a shot into the bar, then wipe the copter. Leaving...
Anyone checked out the van yet? be careful.. And what about the weeners.. will they let us poke around?
Everyone been recruited through Ace Tomato.. who may have released information, or been tapped into for their recruiting dossiers. Certainly seemed as if the opposition knew who they were and what they drove - that was really fast work!
He noticed for kids with old style boards - Hi kids.. What was it up on the pipe over there .. what did you see? why aint you skatin or watchin the fire? there's a twenty in it for your troubles..
Listening to their story, taking care to avoid too many open spaces, he returns to see a pair of large boots sticking out from underneath Mao's van.

Mao stood out amongst the group and he knew it. But then again..if they wanted him dead…Tony could’ve killed him at the meet. Everything that Pelch said he had already at the meet thought of when Tony spoke his words. Leave it to Belch to always complain at other’s change in plans..yet when he does it he believes it was the best course of action taken…must be just dwarven jealousy.
Either case…you still owe me money. I held up my end of the bargain. The deal was I found make the contact and find Tony and I did. I did what I had to “lone wolf” since the situation called for that. Don’t try to swagger out of the deal Belch.
Mao continued to apply his rapid healing abilities and scuff off the ashes that were on him. He knew that they’ld have to look his truck over since it would be fair game for whoever wanted to the place sky high a few minutes ago. The equipment on him was still on good...mainly the manhunter...just in case the shooter wanted a bigger explosion...

OOC: Pelch, "YES! Nothing like a good big explosion to get the juices flowing. Hey Wheels, I didn't blow it up, the ENEMY did. (snicker) When chummers are this close what I did is just a small favor. No, don't Thank me, just bend over and we'll talk later. (Puts on rubber glove.) That's two insurance claims you get to file. You DO have insurance don't you? Now let's see you have an impounded wreck that was taken off I-5 by the Star, and now you have a melted down aircraft with tools and shotgun. I assume they ARE UNregistered vehicles. By the way, those go OFF your sheet until they are replaced. (heh heh heh) This run sure has been EXPENSIVE for some of you.
Mao, you won the bet but not because of the reasons you are stating. I asked you that question to see if you followed the details in the story line. It was a test. I ought to take your money, but I will point it out for you as a lesson to everyone.
You state, "The deal was I found make the contact and find Tony and I did."
No, read back to the original bet! The bet was: "I'm betting I can not only deliver the troll to Slash but I can set the meet without Pelch holding my hand!"
The MEET was supposed to be set with SLASH not TONY! Now if you read later in the thread your character states to Slash TWICE that he was trying to arrange a meeting between your group and his. Slash chose not to meet with the others but dealt with you and Tony. Now I made the first statement about the meeting as a reminder to you of what you were supposed to do! LUCKILY for you, you made the second statement which was what I was WAITING for. I wanted to see if you would follow your original assignment through. Since you did? You won! No matter what the outcome otherwise. The lesson is to remember what your assignments are when you take them and remember where you fail, if you fail in them.
Henri: "Speaking in Latin, he instructs the watcher to search the area around the Jackal's Lantern for anyone deliberately concealing themselves and then report back to him."
Most Watcher spirits are not noticeably intelligent. The 'accident' has drawn a lot of watchers and some of them don't want to be seen but are watching. You may have to refine your search parameters a bit more next time. I will give you this, the Spirit saw many hidden watchers but their AURAS do not appear to have HOSTILE intent. They are CURIOUS.
As for your second request, "Upon entering the 'lantern, Henri locates the still-smoking body of the waiter in short order. Deciding that this poor soul was the most likely point of impact, he begins his astral search of the corpse and the room surrounding it. "
I am unsure what you hope to discover here. The fireball came in through the door and struck the waiter. You might pick up the echo's of his death and the violence and despair that are part of the tavern's emotional background but I suspect little else. This tavern does have a history of violent confrontations. Did I miss something?
Freddy, "Freddy summons a F3 spirit to cover them while they cross the park - once taking a good look astrally from above and a second time towards the billowing clouds - looking for active spells or any awakened .. especially any creatures. Freddy remains outside, close to the pub, searching for the point where the energy was mustered for the fireball, and collecting any debris that may have been left.. cigar stub, wrappers, used fetish. It doesn't take long to zero in - top of the skate pipe 50 yards away gives an excellent view of the 'Lantern' front door. well away from the impact, easy to access, easy to remove yourself from - probably a bike nearby. He checks the bottom of the pipe for debris as well, something may have been used and dropped to roll away and down."
You see nothing unusual in the astral or the air. You get the astral impression at the door that TWO people were involved. One was obviously a fairly powerful mage, and disquietingly enough an INSECT Shaman by the feel. You are unsure what insect totem. The other aura you ALMOST missed because he is very heavily cybered and it is almost hidden by the shaman's more powerful emanation. The fireball feels like a level 5! The kids arrived later after the fact and saw nothing. Nice try though You discover no other useful clues.
That should deal with the questions and bring things up to date. Now for continuities sake. Freddy is over with Wheels and Wheels is checking the van.
Pelch and Mao are arguing about the bet.
Henri is inside.
Widow and Quick are near the bikes waiting. We will pick up from that point.

Before leaving with Widow Quick grabs his briefcase from behind the bar and proceeds to follow her to the bike. As they approach he sees an alley a good 200 meters away with a 3rd story fire escape on a run down abandoned building tapping her on the back. " Let me off here I will keep an eye on thing from outside try to get anything that may start outside we don't want to start more trouble by shooting up the place."
As she slows down he hops off the back and run to the alley climbs up to the 3rd floor catwalk/fire-escape and starts to assemble his rifle and set up with practiced grace. By the time Widow gets to the parking lot and starts to head in she hears Quick on her comm.
"Ready I got your back outside."
After she enters he summons a F3 city spirit

Pelch looked at Mao, "The bet was that you take the Troll to Slash and then set up a meet between Widow and Slash, not meet with Tony you boob!"
Mao adjusted his hat, "I took the troll to Slash and what makes you think that I didn't set up the meet? They can go see Slash any time they want. I can take them there right now if they want to go. Pay up Mexican Hairless."
Pelch looked disgusted, "All right, you win. You get my share when we get paid." He stomped over towards Freddy and Wheels in disgust as Mao looked pleased. As Pelch approached he heard Freddy say, "Anyone checked out the van yet? be careful.. And what about the weeners.. will they let us poke around?"
"Look around all you want chummer, but the Star will be probably be coming here soon. Wheels is checking out the van now." He stooped down and yelled under the van, "You find anything yet?"
Wheels visibly jumped and the sound of a head banging metal under the van was heard followed by cursing. "You fragging DREKHEAD!" Wheels yelled angrily, "Don't fragging yell at me I'm trying to listen for a bomb while I'm looking! Get AWAY from here you stoopid GIT!"
Pelch appeared unaffected by the retort yelled back, "They say you should cut the RED wire first.", he stated helpfully. "Or is it the yellow, or the green or the black?" He scratched his head in deep thought. Widow walked up behind Pelch from the bikes and tapped him on the shoulder, "Do you guys REALLY WANT to be standing at Ground Zero of another explosion if Wheels makes a mistake? I don't think his resume has a bomb disarm skill."
Pelch let out a "Gleep!" and turned and ran for the bikes, followed more slowly by Widow and Freddy. Under the van Wheels suddenly yelled, "Hey! I found one!" Widow started running with Freddy right behind and yelled back to Wheel's, "What KIND is it?"
Wheels hesitated looking confused for a moment then looked at the bomb and spoke angrily again, "How the FRAG do I know! The kind that FRAGGING EXPLODES, I guess. It sure is made of good material though." Suddenly the bomb started to blink faster.
OOC: Pelch, "I think I'll leave it right there. See you Sunday morning folks. Hey Wheels? Think FAST!
I see emyaj posted while I was writing this. I'll leave him on over watch and he may get to witness Mao's van blowing up in a minute. Wheels it's not your day for vehicles or bombs is it."
