OOC: Pelch, "Hello. Time to get cracking again."
Wheels, I found this article and thought you might find it of interest. news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/5051142.stm newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41730000/gif/_41730278_holding_drone.gif
It would appear that the cost is fairly high in 2006 but by 2064, with technology improvements it could be considerably cheaper. It would appear that our groups drone idea has merit.
I suspected you were just playing it well as usual, but I just felt I had to tweak you a bit. Sometimes I just can't resist being a total twit. As for finding our friend Mao, I would be in no great hurry. He is after all at the Holloweeners main camp and they will be watching out for the unexpected."
Gremlin, " We do not require a regular posting time on this thread. I applaud your manners though. You post when you can and when you get in the mood, so to speak. I tell you this in case you haven't heard. The only things that we require is that you inform someone when you leave the room permanently, and that you do your best. We all recognize that given Real Life situations, random occurrences, and spurts of occasional maladies that we cannot always meet on regular schedules. We also take into account that many of us are in strange time zones, so that not everyone can post on the same schedules. This thread is for your enjoyment, creative advancement, and social contact, not a forced labor camp. Post when you can and the mood strikes you."
"Wolflet and I had a most interesting discussion lately on Dom's magical security. We both tend to agree that it is not cost effective and not very responsive. I could rewrite much of it myself, however, being the lazy sort I would much rather that our 'on staff' mages work together to redo the magical security in the Siren. I feel it will be good practice for them to deal with this issue and a good chance for them to be creative, as we are doing with the drones and Wheels. (Consider the problems of new spell creation and this might get the juices flowing, so to speak. Work closely with Wheels as well, for why cannot a drone be magically enhanced with a simple low cost spell?)"
I think that I have waited long enough for Mr. Mao at this point and will continue on his story line tonight since the other lines are doing well enough.

OOC: Pelch, " A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men! Time to have some fun with Mao tonight. By the way, for those not in the know, Fnord is the typographic representation of disinformation or irrelevant information intending to misdirect, with the implication of a conspiracy. (Word from the Fatman is the Retro's use this a lot in the magical sense as a minor cantrip on LEGAL documents. Those guys are insidious!) The word was coined as a nonsensical term with religious undertones in the Principia Discordia by Kerry Thornley and Greg Hill, but was popularized by 'The Illuminatus!' Trilogy of books by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. In these novels, the interjection "fnord" is given hypnotic power over the unenlightened. The Illuminati program children, while still in grade school, to be unable to consciously see the word "fnord". For the rest of their life, every appearance of the word subconsciously generates a feeling of uneasiness and confusion, and prevents rational consideration of the subject."
Redux: Tony looking at Mao, "Physical Adept. Largely untrained. You are wasting your power and have already done serious damage to your Art. A shame really. You are a most confused young man. So full of anger. You are a corporate tool, Wild Man, especially with all that dead metal inside you. How far down the path of destruction do you intend to travel? First it was Lone Star that turned you into a robot and took away your memories and now it's going to be KD&A? How much about your previous life do you really remember?"
Mao glared at the mage. Then he quickly went over his possible courses of action in his head. His thinking went something like this:
Plans/ Probability of Success --------------------------------------------------------------------- a) Fight a duel arcane 0.0000000005% b) Continue Reality-Shaping 10% c) Enter the Astral, take on Tony 0.0000000035% in his lair d) Find Nestle's and offer 25% them salvation through the Blood of Christ e) Sit around, do nothing, watch as 99.9993% the world crumbles at his feet f) Trick Tony into saying his 50% name back wards --or-- trap him in the Phantom Zone g) Whip out that handy can of opponent 83% destroyer h) Trick Pelch into saying his name 99% back wards i) Fnord %
Mao found a comfortable chair sat down and placed his feet on a convenient table and adjusted his hat. "If you plan to psychoanalyze me, I'll warn you up front that I'm not paying you anything. Better make it the short version. If you're offering me a bartender's advice the least you could do is offer me a drink. If you plan to psyche me out with confusion and uneasiness, I can still see the word Fnord."
Tony laughed, made a gesture and handed Mao a martini with a flourish. "So despite the metal in your brain you can still think! You obviously did not waste your time in school as well." He also pulled up a chair as Mao took the drink and sampled it. At least Tony could make a decent martini. He wondered for a split second if it was shaken or stirred.
Tony made another flourish and a martini appeared in his hand. He took a sip as well. "So tell me Wild Man, what do you hope to accomplish today?"
Mao again adjusted his hat and took another drink. He feared no booze. "Well I thought I would pry you lose from the Holloweeners and that like all master villains you would tell me the plan in detail so I can foil your nefarious schemes at the last minute, get the girl, have a sexual romp and then move on to the next movie."
Tony smiled, "You ARE an amusing fellow. I am inclined to honor your request. You need a good romp. Perhaps Widow will agree if I was to capture her and place her is some kind of durance vile, scantily clad in a bikini, perhaps. Then allow you to rescue her. Do you have a particular color you like in bikini's?"
Mao thought for a moment, "It seems a bit superfluous to me. Why should one care about the wrapper when it's the present inside one is interested in? You have to have considered, that given Widow's harridan nature it would be like wrapping up a cow patty and presenting it to me. It wouldn't be worth the effort."
Tony sighed, "I tend to agree with you. Widow is difficult, perhaps a sex change would help her. I like you Mao. You are a witty fellow. While we are temporarily adversaries it does not mean that we still can't admire each other. We both have a job to do and we are currently sitting across the bargaining table. Are you willing to consider that we might be able to strike a deal to make both our jobs easier?"
Mao looked interested, "You have a proposal?"
Tony nodded as he assessed Mao, "Almost certainly. You're supposed to find out information about me to take back to Dom Haseltorn. If you dislodge me from the Holloweeners and stop the hijackings you get a bonus. If the Holloweeners become friends with Dom, you get another bonus. What if I was to say that all this could become a reality and you would even recover all the goods that were Hijacked with enough extra to compensate for all Dom's losses, plus an additional bonus from me for the group?"
Mao smiled, "You sound like Drassel. How can you give me everything I want and gain NOTHING for yourself. It sounds like a scam to me, but I'm willing to listen."
"Now I didn't say you wouldn't have to EARN it." Tony stated calmly, "I'm just showing what I might be willing to negotiate with. You can stand to gain any or all of these things in whatever combination you wish in return for certain actions on your part."
"I see." Mao stated with some amusement, "Then let's test the waters. The primary goal was to find out more about you. If I was to to ask for that what price would I be paying."
"That is the cheapest price of all. I'll give you that one for free because it suits my purpose to do so. All you have to do is be able to live with the knowledge of what your boss is. Be careful though, you may not really want that knowledge once you get it." Tony sat back and took a drink.
Mao considered.
OOC: Pelch, "I think I'll leave that right there for now and let Mao make the next decision on HOW FAR he wants to go."

As Wheels lifted off the roof and merged with the midday traffic, he sat back in his 'captain's chair' mode to try and locate Mao. Leaving the roto-drone on station so that he knew when Pelch again left the Jack-o-Lantern, Bobby began to head off south-southwest in the direction of travel of the group that had been escorting Mao. The footage showed at least 5 people in the group including Mao and the troll from the Spikes. Magnifying the image, Bobby thought he might be able to spot them that way using the Wasp's own sensor suite.
By his estimates, he was at least 15 minutes behind Mao now. Drek, they could be anywhere in this maze... Bobby thought to himself as he began to leisurely crisscross a 5-6 block wide path leading away from the Jack-o-Lantern. Mentally, Bobby added up the time that had past...4-5 minutes dealing with that guard. Three minutes to clean up my gear, another two for preflight, eight to set up that drone. Frag, closer to 20 minutes by now...
Then Bobby remembered the phone call...FRAG!!! If it's not something, its another thing.... Fishing out his phone, Bobby dials the number of Matt Rix, the man who'd returned his call at the very in-opportune time of right in the middle of a stand off.
"Hey Matt. Sorry bout that, I was right in the middle of a...well, lets call it an exchange of pleasantries with a corp security guard at the end of a shotgun. Yah well, its part of the life...Listen, I have something I'd like you to maybe take a look at. I dunno how much you know about Genetics and DNA and that kind of stuff, but you remember that run we did that went sour?...Yah the one on the docks?...Yah, I don't want to mention names on an open channel...Anyways, I picked up something along the way that I'd like you to take a look at....Maybe I can catch up with you sometime? I'm a bit busy at the moment, but maybe later tonight? Alright, where?...Arctic...See you then..." Bobby disconnected and pocketed the phone again, just before he swerved around the old Luthern Cathedral steeple...Banking high around the elevated cross, Bobby glanced at the sensors and registered a face that matched. It was one of the halloweeners that had been escorting Mao.
Caught a break... thought to himself as he moved off away from the church, making it look like he was simply flying by...Now, I just hope that Mao is down there....
OOC is Denny Park, like an actual Park with trees and grass and what not? or is it more like a subdivision? What is the primary buildings in the area? Residential? Commercial? Industrial? I don't think it'll be industrial, being so close to downtown, but it could be. By process of elimination, that leaves Commercial and residential. Since the gang probably runs a protection racket as part of their income sourcing, I'm going to guess mostly commercial backed upon residential areas...Perhaps lots of strip malls and lower level office and professional buildings? maybe not more than 4-5 stories. The proximity of a large church implies a residential neighborhood nearby of some size, as indicated by the LARGE part of the description. The attached school, seems to indicate the residential area nearby as well. Does the residential area consist of walk-up type buildings? Appartment buildings/Projects type buildings? Single family dwellings?
Also, is the general area somewhat run down? I'd assume this, since any gang neighborhood I've been in, the gang is NOT focused on keeping the streets and neighborhood clean. Since the Halloweeners have the run of the place, this implies the area is in a lower security rating neighborhood, with little or perhaps no Lonestar activity, further suggesting a decaying neighborhood. How am I doing so far Pelch? Haven't even pulled out a reference yet?
Haha...I invoke the descriptive powers of PELCH.
Need some idea of what I am flying into...places to land, hide etc...Thanks

OOC Pelch I was doing a bit more research and looked at that article. Cool, by the way. I never said that the idea didnt have merit. Simply that the drone in question wouldnt likely come in at 500 nuyen...
I looked at a factory production drone that was designed to do a similar job. I refer you to the stats and description for the GM-N Spotter Drone. It comes in at a handy 33,000 nuyen and has a similar role and performance to the described drone. Now, I am assuming that the pricing system includes things like relative availability and techlevels, so I still say that a simple drone with just a camera would come in around 6-8000. Starts off with 5000 x Body level for remote control and rigger interface. I believe this includes better technology for a longer range of control (part of that cost is abstractly covered in the game with the "Flux" rating)...However, with out some better defined parameters from Wolflet59, determining the price is going to be a little difficult. But I still maintain 6-8000 nuyen for something simple...

"That could very much be the case...but keep in mind I would have to somehow ascertain proof of what you state."
Tony nodded and smiled: "To what purpose then would I speak to you now then or try to make a deal?"
"If I only listened to what everyone said and never found backing nor thought myself I'ld be only running in circles and doubt I'ld have lived as long as I have wouldn't you agree?" Mao smiled and tipped his hat once more.
This was as close as either person would go. Both realized that each was working for the other side but they also had to give mutual respect based just solely on how far each has gone or their route has taken them. Tony was a shapechanger...granted to more easily hide his true appearance...but then it also meant that he needed to hide his true appearance. Mao had suspicions from the moment that Tony spoke about his past...
It was like a poker game...each person gave and took. It was a stalemate of sorts...actually...more so of a tug o war. The middle of the rope would heave to one side then back the other way...never really away from the middle yet it never stayed there either. There was an old chinese saying...
If one wished to know what was laid in the middle of the trap...then the only way to found out was to brave there.

Freddy can draw on his Administration knowledge - Interviews, the purpose of which is to find the best fit candidate for the job or task at hand.. Job specifications mesh with candidates qualifications and practical experience? Candidate meshes with the job, team, corp..? Accounts have verified long/short term pay - is a position is vacant for someone with his skills ? Do you like what you hear, and does he have any specific questions..?

Quick was watching the proceedings - Immediate Overwatch suited him well -- someone in charge - but in the background where he seemed to like to be - and certainly able to take care of any immediate situation
While Widow and Henri jousted over pay, conditions and duties . Freddy had already provided his opinion, Widow could make her own descision.
Henri - I found it difficult to take important steps into the glare of compeditive corporate politics.. I do not know you, but by the astral scry that you have just provided, I know that you are an awakened. If you did that in public, I would regard your scry as rude - but then I would be scrying as well.
You speak straight - typical of a hermetic - Persuade Widow that you will fit into one of her teams - You are no longer looking at working smalltime from the shadows, this is a big step up from running - lots of sammies dont understand - this is an opportunity for you to demand what you want - through results.
Do it as an independant - you get the crumbs -
prove that you have the wherewithall - bite cake. - theres a lot of cakes to bite into out there.
Downside is, it Would not take long to find me, or my family, or my businesss - or to annonce thiss idea to the world, whether you leave here with or without a job..... Word will get out that there IS a recruitment drive.....because there is !
Stay in the shadows, get the leftovers. move into the light, choose your slice...
He leaves the room, looking out to the new casino.. a very quick astral sight as he gets tothe doors
Standard magical protection for a big business - elementals on call - but they will only perform a specific function - just like a drone can only follow its last programme.. he assenses three elementals hovvering over his head. Then waves to the monitors, waiting for the controller to rush out -- which he, and five others do, tasar in hand..
you have been recognised as a guest of JJ but the astral security is referring you to me.. you are under the juristriction of the Siren inc. assume the position.. .. BZZZT Yes aprehended.. yes.. SIN id is correct... 'Sir i will take a blood sample' . pink DNA confirms.. thank you JJ you are a clearance Three sir, enabled to interract with security but with limitations. You are in a security two area, I shall dismiss the elementals back to their duties. Security is aware of your presence.
Freddy was not surprised by the security - as everyone knows if you build a castle - anyone can get in, it is the personnell defending who are important, and it is them who will put themselves into good positions
He remained with the security guard - the guy stayed five paces from Freddy - tasar held lightly, but held anyway... stopped the miscreant from doing anything rash or quick.. Over the comms, JJ's voice squeaked through the comm
Widow and Freddy have security clearance Three - please confifm identity...
The guard's sector system monitor recorded , updated , and cleared the two for recognised service - and therefore to be ignored by the half-dozen elementals of lesser level that had congregated around the area.....
What level was Quick then..?
There was always the problem of chaining any spirit to any area.. one command. lots of non mages thought yu could give a spirit a variety of instructions... the holovids told you so... but the absolute reality was, that once you gave the spirit a command, then that was exactly what it did -- only one command, and that hd to be a reasonable command - spirits were thick! especiallly the air-heads!
Magicians had tried for eons to tie spirits into one place - fine if the instruction is clear - keeps most people out, but will eventually be bested by an infiltration team. just like the Egyptians who thought themselves so well protected.. The best protection is an active rather than a passive system.. you just gotta have good staff!

Henri hears the lock click home as he sits down. "He is all yours now.""What the frag?" he thinks, frowning for a second "Trying to see if I'll do something bone-headed?" he wonders. She let a puff of her cigar go. Pulling it from her mouth, she looked at Henri. "The other is for you chummer""No thanks" he replies, making a brief gesture of refusal. "I never liked the taste." At the requests for info on his background, Henri first considers the 'excreta tauri cerebrum vincit' approach. However, not knowing the exact contents of the dossier, he decides instead to give Widow and Freddy and editied version of the truth. "Alright, I joined a corp military straight outa school. I was never much good with the rifles they issued. In fact I only just got the minimum pass score with their rifle, so training as a combat mage was never an option. After basic, I was trained as a support mage, directing elementals, providing diversions, long distance sniping with binoculars, that sort of thing. A tour in the desert wars came after that, it had its moments but nothing to write home about." Henri pauses for a second, mentally editing the next part before continuing. "Not long after, I got called in to see the CO. He said that my service record and evaluations had got somebody's attention, they were looking for volunteers for the corperation's intel service, but my salary would still paid by the military. It didn't take a genius to figure out what this meant, and I jumped at the chance." "Because we were still on the military payroll, we had access to their training facilities as well as the intel service's in house ones. We were responsible for our own training, but we had another motivation besides ourselves. The more courses we completed, the more we got paid." Pausing to think back to which courses he'd done, Henri lists them mentally before speaking again. "Before I went freelance, I finished courses in using and concealing sidearms, camoflauge and concealment in various terrain, physical & astral surveilance and counter-surveilance techniques, basic cyberdeck use with 'trodes, computer theories and several shamanic & hermetic magical theories. I was also part way through an advanced driving course before I decided to leave the corp." Henri smiles to himself, thinking back to the good times before he'd been cut loose, "Off the corporate books, I kept up with forensic advancments and what they're capable of, although the theory behind most of them is way above the high school science I learned. I've also kept an eye on the stock markets and who owns what, it helps to know who you're working against...or for, now that I'm self employed." After listening to Freddy, Henri says to Widow without sounding cocky or full of himslf, "Just an observation, but it makes good tactical sense for you to take me on. From what JJ says, He's the only spellslinger in the group. If the drek hits the fan and he needs to cover you all, he's gonna be spread pretty thin. I can also give a different perspective on magic, which might or might not be useful to you." OOC: Ok, gonna go now, typers cramp & I'm missing the Engalnd match

Half a dozen Medium air elementals to generally patrol the public areas - given a command to what..? Freddy had already tested them.. the summoning mages could leave elementals on site, but with only one order. They had congregated around him when he applied a magical effect - sort of astral pointing fingers - the magical security would pick up on this and call in standard security to clamp down on any magical activity.. The spirits were not there as attack dogs..
Force of the elementals was over Freddy's charisma , but not over double.. medium to quite high would be easy enough to conjour, and tough enough to not be easily dismissed. How did the spirits recognise and ignore him now then..? blood sample..
a thought crossed his mind- if he was ignored, then a few subtle spells would easily tip the balance in any game of chance.. except that as a recognised employee, he would still be watched. Most big jobs had some form of inside help, security on the staff was probably higher than on potential attacks!
Internally there was bound to be a heavy duty warding - one ward couldnt cover the whole building - unless there was a recent wizarding convention in town where everyone decided to chip into creating a huge ward... hard enough to get a dozen guys into a room they were so twitchy. but a dozen Knight Errant could be flown in to set one up - each could ward a small board-room around 10x10x3 metres, ten could cover a central well for the SirenSong and once a week someone would have to update it - which was difficult a force of double his own Magic in a warding would be well tough to get through - They might get paid enough to make it permanant, at 5000 the going rate to impose your will on the world, a ward 12 would only cost a further 60,000 on top of their fees. And a couple of big elementals inside with orders to 'attack until ordered to desist' by those in a higher dna cabinet - them with high clearance.
Takes full advantage of what is available, keeps the public from cheating - or using magic on-site - as long as there is security surveillance - lots of fiberoptics around - ideal for a mage to observe the astral from afar. they cant use electronic monitors .. means there is someone astrally aware always on site to monitor the elementals.. boring security work for.. magic students at Seattle institute? and a geezer or two through Knight Errant?
Of course there would be stories sent out about FAB traps and helhounds - too dangerous to the public - scare off the customers! Literally! killer elementals, mind rips and blood to boiling lead spells to dissuade magical hits on the place. So there was probably some sort of 'in case of emergencies break jar' to loose a big protective nasty...let someone else find out what that was..

OOC: Pelch, "Let's get to it."Wheels, "Denny Park has an ACTUAL Park in it. Surrounding the park are the residential, light commercial and in some cases some very light industrial operations. All of this is considered as the Denny Park Area. The area is indeed some what rundown in the SR world. I am sure it would be fairly simple to find a wrecked place to set down in or even in the park itself. Not safe but there are places. As for the drones, see what you can come up with. You're the man on that. Get creative and see if you can find a way to actually cut the costs? ""Now it sounds like Widow, Henri, Freddy and Quick are busy on details so let's let them decide where they want to go and how fast they want to do it."
"Again, it appears that Mao is the one I have to expand on. He's circling all around the decision but seems reluctant to make a COMMITMENT! Maybe he needs a nudge?" IC: Tony smiled slyly, "You seem to be blathering again my young antagonist. You want proof that what I am telling you is true and thus you make it impossible to prove to you that it is true in the short time that remains. If you aren't willing to accept my words now and then check on it yourself at a later date then any proof I give you verbally is going to be considered by you to be worthless no matter how truthful I am. Let me make it easier for you." Your problem is you see to MANY alternatives and by doing that you make no decisions. Review your job requirements. Did Johnson say explicitly that your information about me HAD to be 100% the truth? Could it be that it is only your assumption that it has to be that way? Wasn't it your job to find out as much as you can about me, right or wrong, and then turn it over to Dom so he can make a decision? So even if everything I tell you is a bald faced lie, it's going to be checked out and either become a fact or be eliminated. Even the lies will tell your boss something! Do you want to take this opportunity to learn anything even when I tell you it is free? I think you do. Why deliberately make your job more difficult and create a stalemate? Slash is not going to be busy in there forever you know. Time is running out. I think I'll give you a small piece of information that you can carry back to your boss. Why? It will make you think about your relationship to that group of crooks you are working for. If he is satisfied enough to pay you in full, then you will know that my information and words are correct. We will then most assuredly meet again. Tell Dom Haseltorn this; "Greeting's Brother. I survived both Father's and my Brother's treachery and I am much stronger now. You have stolen my birthright and you will die. Then tell them Krass will die to prove my intent." Tony then vanished just as the door opened and Slash stepped out. "Where's Tony?" He asked a confused Mao angrily.

Freddy brings back a tray of ice-colds a jug of real coffee an a bottle of Jamesons - whatever conclusion Widow has reached - any magus who is looking for that opening, may just be up against you the second time you meet - so a freindly - yet business-like approach should never go amiss, could save your life - (or his!).
His understanding of the routine of these situations was minimal, at least they could call in for more coffees to take the edge off too much Irish.. Should he have left..? or go back now.. bah!
Anyone want a drink?

OOC: Pelch, ".... on Father's Day."
Ripper had left some time ago when Mao finally came walking into the lantern. Spotting Pelch he wandered over and took a chair. "Well I met Tony, pay up."
Pelch glared, "The plan was that you were going to arrange a meet between us and Slash, using the troll as a passport remember? You were supposed to meet them 'down here' so I could FOLLOW Charles the Red to Tony. That way we wouldn't alert him that we were looking. Did any of that HAPPEN? No? The meeting between, Widow and Slash? No? Me, following Chuckles to find Tony? No? Then you tell me you found Tony by meeting with him when you weren't supposed to. Sounds to me like you HOSED up the bet and you owe me. You just had to GRANDSTAND and change the plan without telling anyone on the team! Now want to tell me why you decided to pick a fight with everyone in here? I suppose it never occurred to you that you could have been killed and that you wouldn't have any BACK UP to help you out or even know what happened? Now you THINK you done good? Fools, Idiots, Morons and protecting Angels!"
Mao adjusted his hat, "You're just jealous. That other stuff is not so important. I had to take some initiative, you know, like you're always carping about. So shut up and listen. I've already met with Slash. The hijackings are over but we can't recover the stuff or the money. I have a message from Tony for Dom. We at least have some information about Tony now and his next plan is to kill Mayor Krass. Tony is a magician and real powerful. I also think he is related to Dom. Tony looks a lot like Dom but older. They could be twins except for the age difference. Tony wants to kill Dom too."
"All this from just one little meet? I'm SOOOOO Impressed. Did you check on the shape changing?" Pelch stated calmly watching Mao's face closely, "I didn't think so. You didn't find out anything about his ability to shapechange but he looks like Dom so maybe he shapechanged into that SHAPE? Your description ain't worth diddly and there may be NO relationship to Dom at all!"
Mao looked uncomfortable. "I had only a short time to talk with Tony and it didn't come up in the conversation." Mao said defensively.
Pelch smiled tightly, "Tony had himself a prime sucker, ki... partner. He steered the conversation and you were so busy being your usual paranoid self and looking for meanings beyond meanings that you didn't even tumble. THAT WAS WHY WIDOW AND FREDDY WERE SUPPOSED to be at the MEETING, Nah? So Tony obviously told you some things. He just spilled his guts, just like that, because he likes you and wants you to have his children, right? I think I'm getting a BIG headache." Pelch put his hands over his face and shook his head in negation.
"Why do you always have to be so negative?" Mao asked. "I got good information. Solid info. I can ID Tony. Slash will leave the trucks alone. How much more do you want me to do here?"
Pelch thought a moment, "Well you could have gotten killed by Tony and left all your stuff to me. How would that look? My partner was killed because he couldn't stick to the plan. He knew the situation was dangerous when we MADE the plan so instead of sticking with the backup that might just save his hoop he goes trundling off like a complete imbecile! He comes into this place, picks a fight and gets sent who knows fragging where before any of us can get in POSITION. Then I twiddle my thumbs waiting for you, wondering if maybe I should go to the pier and start dredging for your dead hoop."
Mao smiled, "You were concerned! Don't deny it! I'm so touched by your interest in my welfare but I am more capable than you seem to think and besides, NOTHING BAD HAPPENED! What are you my MOTHER?"
" I feel like that sometimes but actually, I was more worried that you wouldn't be around to pay off on your bet! I hate losing all that EASY money! Widow would have probably kept your share, you know how woman are." Pelch grumbled. "I did find out that Tony is working for Nestle's though."
Wheels walked through the door. Spotting Pelch and Mao he came over to the table and sat down as well. Mao and Wheels both ordered smoked sausage on rolls and Green River Pale's. Mao nodded, "I don't know why you were so worried, Wheels was with us all the time. If I had needed help he would have been there to handle it. You can trust Wheels." He turned to the rigger. "You tell him Wheels. Tell him how you had me covered all the way and nothing would have happened. Matter of fact he probably had the whole thing bugged and has pictures of Tony as well as the voice tapes of the conversation!" They both looked at Wheels.
Wheels tried not to look guilty as he thought about what to say.
