Shade divides the surrounding blocks between the two of them. A quick check a few blocks in each direction to get a idea of the foot traffic.

Bear in mind what size of buildings you are looking to have a peek through - it is not quite as laborious as a door to door survey on all of the residents looking onto the Car Fax building - but it would take a long time to check them out.
Looking into the cellar would pose it's own problems too - the cellars would not be lit by the light of mother earth and therefore would be black.. erm I have just considered that with any sort of lighting the astral viewer can still only see blackness as the light is nothing to do with astral life. An internal boardroom would be black even lit up with powerful striplighting - unless you have natural light or moss and live beings you will be blind..
raises the question would a spell cause light to astrally view things? any sustained area effect spell... should work - the effect would be like a flashlight or a storm lantern
I know this reduces the effectivness of the astral traveller. ideal for short range - but watch out for getting lost - you will not have an astral 'compass' and can think you are travelling vertically when actually going the wrong way - downwards..? you could use the texture of the surrounding area to 'feel' your way around - so be careful !

the road traffic is light - not bumper to bumper - mostly commercial delivery wagons.. lots of smaller courier jackrabbits too - taking a slightly faster and less dangerous route to the overzoom.. There are not many multiple pile-ups on the overzooms either - contrary to popular belief.. the failsafes in the road surface create auto slowdowns to all vehicles when a spill or crash causes a vehicle to stop suddenly... carwreckers have found that a couple of 40gallon drums filled with water do just as well bringing the traffic to a halt so they can rob the passengers at knife-point foot traffic is certainly light here - if you dont need to be in this sort of no-man's land then you dont want to be. Juves and street-vendors... lots of down and outs - there are always plenty of disposessed around and the industrial areas are good for them as they dont get moved on too much, and they have nothing left to steal. the wage-slaves all live uptown as close as they can get to their corp offices Independents live anywhere - but few roam the streets which do not have immediate access to the markets or malls - generally too dangerous and nothing there for them.
All of the big citybloks have their own mall/market and the more interesting ones have clusters of small vendors around the pedways. These traders get moved on a lot by blok security or by the Star.. where there is a strong security presence there is a tendancy to the extremes - keep out the riff-raff or to encourage traders so you take a slice like Cinatown.
So the area you are looking at is quite spartan compared to a lot of Seattle.

Like Micro and Shade, Bishop decided to do a visual recon on the building but, lacking their ability to project, was forced to do so in the flesh. He opened a channel as he did a drive-by and then a walk by, checking the entrances and any possible lay-up points or alternate means of entry.
"This is Bishop, I'm coming into the target area now. If Meg's intel was right and they have surveillance gear installed our new decker may need to start earning his pay sooner rather than later. Standby..."

((What about all the watchers we brought with us. Your saying 4-8 watchers wont light a area up?))

yep - watchers should do it - they would light the area like chinese lanterns - light good enough to navigate by in any cityblok.
hmm - that is 'how to navigate in the dark' sorted out.. summon up a couple of watchers and you have 'lanterns' - your own astral forms would probably do the same so you should never be in the complete dark as you ought to glow too - more than the watchers!

Shade and Micro with watchers in tow - looking very festive in the astral - survey the immediate surroundings -
the rush of traffic down below blurs - you know you could sit on top of a vehicle and follow it with ease - as ong as it does not go too far underground so you lose your bearings.. but that's not what today is about - check out the main building and a quick spy of the surrounds..
leaving your meat in good hands you project and collect up your watchers - they need ordering in order to do anything more useful than 'protect me' and circle around your astral forms heading out to the top of the Car Fax building..
12 stories - quite small compared to a lot of the newer bloks - just not bought up and rebuilt into a plex of some kind. you circle the rooftop - broken in places which is where Micro shows the route they took - again circling the upper floors - avoiding the moss algae and big roaches the place is empty. Lots of traces of... official searching... the Star will have sent plenty of people to check these floors leaving a faint trace of their passing
the wire trolleys stuffed into the upper access stairs still remain an intact barrier to bigger things - too much problem to remove?
The upper four floors are much the same - empty of interesting tems or auras. Once the floors themselves are watertight there are signs of habitation - Micro points out where the grenade trips were and where the vid cam wiring was draped down the stairwell - but again little sign of habitation .. the background aura is cold and grey with more fecent 'officialdom' overlaying this bleak aura.
Having a check outside reveals little apart from dark lifeless crete.. down on the streetlevel the background becomes very busy - a lot of recent 'industrious officialdom' - the resonance from those Star officers busily carting out load upon load of bagged evidence.. Ground floor is the same with a feint bloody aroma in the bar area.
In the bar a couple of lighting towers could illuminate the room if switched on - and the cams are set - you recognise the old models - too old to be worth stealing and sell which discourages looters.. they are wireless and have a variety of settings - motion heat and size usually - anything more elaborate would be stolen stripped and sold quickly.
white outline spray rings slugholes hundreds of them! you did not realise how much the room was sprayed.. the ganger outlines are there where the dead were picked up from - no outlines for the living.
you decide to leave the main floor 3 untill last - the first two floors have a background of lived-in familiarity - different gangers must have lived on these lower floors - and a lot of official activity overlaying the whole place
missing out the bedroom thetwo floors above it are surrounded with rooms steeped in heavy emotions mostly revolving around pain and suffering - these had traces of body parts and dried blood around them - older memories which the walls remember.
the main room is a shock.

Chuck after spending a few more days just relaxing. The Dermal Armor is hard to get use to, defiantly restricts his movement abit. Chuck heads out for a drive on his bike. He heads over to were the vamp gang boss lived/unlived ....... who knows. So he cruses around the area with in a 3 or 4 block radius of the vamp house. Looking for a fe homeless people. When he spots a few he parks his bike goes into a Stuffer Shack and grabs a couple of bags of food and heads out to the were they are hanging around.Hey there, I'd like to ask you guys a few questions. But I have a couple of bags of food stuffs here and a a few cred to help you all out. Chuck gives each of the homeless a bag of food and he shoves a 100 cred into each bag. I only have a few questions for you now. If you could answer that's good but even if you can't answer the food and cred is still yours. I'd like to know if there are any way to get under ground around here and if there is anything living down there that should keep me from going down there after you tell me a way to get down there.

Hey troggy boy - you're OK wit me ! you lookin for a nice quiet underslab dorm then you could do far better just west of here heh! or stick to the carports under the blox - but just maybe youre thinkin of havin a looksee where the Star wuz pumpin crete eh? Dude like you splashin cred on geezers like us.. neh? Well now we aint been under that section for a year or so coz of the stinkin gools - fraggin ghosts they are - sneak up on a fellah an scare the livin daylights out of a man - pardon my franglais troggy.. always creepin around up to no good.. thats why we moved out an into the carports in the other blox - sure we got moved on but least it wuz by normal folk..
Good on the Star I say - leastways its the only decent thing theyve done for a long time.. I hear they filled up the whole place with crete to keep them goowls from sneakin abouts... you thinkin of gettin in there - sorry pal it's all sealed up in a big block.
Tell you want tho I can give you an intro to a pal'o'mine who might help you further - for a cheap introductiory fee!
Chuck holds onto another 100 bill and smiles... the result is what Chuck wants even though the effect of a grinning troll up against the out'ers face accidentally spooks the hobo into blabbing..
S.. S.. S..orry Mr Trog I dissnt mean to offend .. Reepacheep is her name - rat priest - youll find her close to the sewer culverts north of chinatown I..I.. can show yuh.. She helps us out findin good billetts an we keep our eys an ears open for her.. Cmon, this way..
Realising that trolls dont always suddenly eat people, the crumpled hobo indicates the direction and shuffles off intent on showing you the way..

the bedroom area has been cleaned- cleansed would be the word.. the background of noxious vile activity that had been present when you executed the vampire is now.. nothing..
you both cast your gaze around trying to pick up on the signs that the creature had been here - Just the steady quiet hum of an industrious official activity which you know will have faded within the week to a bleak nothing. There was more astral signature from the bar downstairs.. Damn.
taking a good look around - the air ducting, laundry chutes, even the toilet downpipes have been creted.. an astral feel down the different pipes gives you that itchy crete feel to down to two floors. the lift doors that Micro recalls had been welded shut are open but a solid block of fresh crete has plugged the shaft from floor five as far down as you wish to go...
the stairwell too from this point down has been creted in. There does not seem to be a physical way down there
back to your meat and put a message to the others - next step would logically be to dip into the basements below. According to the oldish specs you have - there are three sub-levels... carparking and maintenance - with links to pipes ducts cable-runs and sewerage to the rest of the city network.

Shade wasn't excepting much to start with but the star really went all out covering the thing up.
"Well so much for that. I guess the next part is actually getting in and keeping a low profile."

Henri accompanies Bishop on his recon of the area figuring that a) two sets of eyes are better than one, b) if anything went to rat-drek the two of them could cover each other and c) it never hurt for a mundane to be covered by some friendly spell-defense. As they carried out their walk past Henri keeps quiet, seeing no point in repeating what Bishop already said. He concentrates on projecting the impression that they are simply two chummers minding their own business as they make their way to a bar.
As Bishop and Henri circle the block and report their findings, they spy three people sporting the same colours as their opponents from Kristina's rescue. The trio are hassling passers by and generally making a nuisance of themselves when a beat up van screeches to a halt nearby. Seven youths wearing different colours pour from the van and set about the three with a variety of chains, knives and bats. Apparently the casualties inflicted during Kristina's rescue had altered the balance of power in the area.

OOC: Bishop has 3 spell defense dice covering him for as long as Henri can see him. Hope Wombat & Wolf don't mind. I just thought I'd throw a random encounter in there, a gang ruck might make things interesting and seems to fit with things as I understand them at the minute.[rand=76783671953513844703519007901769772983097905346425997751446057565]

Very appropriate violence ! There is always this ebb and flow of power with the different gangs organisations crims all hustling.. the corps do it between themselves too - and the independent companies all looking to improve their power base...
Shade can see that the Star must have cleansed the aura - it is a lot for them to bring in a specialist psi investigator but then again if the Star realised what had been going on then they would take steps to close the can of worms so the public dont know ! - crete and cleansing....

Sure buddy. Let's go see this Reepacheep. If she's good with me there's a few more cred in it for you. I'll follow you on my bike. Chuck climbs back on his bike and follows the hobo.

Once he sent word out over the comms he tried his hidden admin account on the star database. He used proxies to keep them from chasing him down. The account and been erased. Shade cursed as he started heading for the gate He let Micro know he was stepping out for a few and when he got back they could check out the basement.
He left on a foot and used a spell to help hide himself from sight and lev'ed several blocks away in no time. He picked a ally devoid of anything but a few rats. He disabled video ran another proxies line and dialed a number from heart.
The call connected. "Afternoon commissioner." Bill sighed. "What now and don't say it's another vampire. I'm stlil catching heat from the higher ups about my own on call vigilante." "I need info." Bill's eye brows couldn't go any higher if they tried. "That's a new twist." "I don't make a habit of asking for help but I figure two and half years oudda get me something." Bill grinned. "If I can help gimme a call anytime. I owe you that much." "I need all the files and reports from the car fax ab incident." He instantly looked concerned. "What? Why? Did we miss something?" "God help us if we did."
He nodded and started going to town on the keyboard just out of camera's view. "Everything?" "Everything." "Usual data drop?" "No, I got a new one. 234.97.165.221:3275" There was more typing. "Ok it's dro- the hell?" I chuckled. "It just vanished." "That's my decker cleaning the trail." Bill just shook his head. "I'll let you know if I find anything." "For once Saint I hope you don't." I got a good laugh. *click*
Unseen I went back to the commute. <tht>God that's a stupid name. I reappeared at the edge of the parking lot and walked up to Ralph. I slid my card and headed back in. On the walk back the files had filtered their way around Seattle making tracing all but impossible and as I hit the parking lot they downloaded into my terminal. Reading though them only took me long enough to meet back up with micro. <tht>Speed reading is the best thing I ever took next to anger management.
((and yes he passed anger management. Proof being Bishop and FE are still alive.))
