Micro over his Sub vocal. Ya the idea is careful touching them. Well I'll cover me and Four Eyes. That will leave Hunter and chuck for you Shade. Micro keeps checking behind him to make sure nothing starts to flank them, always keeping Four Eyes in sight.
Micro uses his Shielding for him and Four Eyes since he can only Shield 2 people with it right now, placing all 5 dice into it until the dice are needed elsewhere.
(OOC I Figure as we advance we would want a team to keep the rear covered and since I have only me and Four Eyes we could cover the rear. All three mages need to keep their defended personal in eye sight. So now mages will be in the middle, not a blind rear guard.
For marching orders I say one mage with him and 2 others take left point the other right point. /. .\ style (/ 2 guns . mage) with me and Four Eyes covering the rear.)

*the following post takes place during down time*
It was after my shift and I was hanging out doing random research since I had nothing better to do at the time. When my comm rang I answered, the caller ID showed Taz. "Hey man, hows it hanging?" "Seems like the only time I hear from you anymore is when you want formula." "Yeah, my boos has a bug up her butt about people not leaving." We both chuckled. "I got a offer for you." "Oh?" "Think you could sneak away for a little while?" "Sure, it's my time, I can spend it how I damn well please." "Meet me at the club, I'll be at our usual table."
45 minutes later.
It's nice being a VIP. The club actually belonged one of the members of our old team. Everyone chipped in to help start the place so we got passes. Scott and myself hadn't spoken in years. When Helga died we said things that you just can't unsay. The truth was I was tired of being angry and just didn't like to think about it anymore. Taz has tried many times (bless his heart) to get us to sit down but pride kept the fires stoked. I flashed my pass and went inside. Taz was waiting in the conner booth, downing beers at a conservative rate. I sat across from him. We spent twenty minutes catching up. All good things come to a end and we got down to biz.
"So what's this opportunity you have?" "Would you be interested in joining a circle?" I sat my wine down and just stared. "I know you've had bad experiences in the past but this will be different." "How so?" "It's my circle. I've recruited some under grads from DU." "I don't think I like the sound of that." "Don't worry they're not associated with the free magicians ... speaking of, do you ever plan on gracing us with your prescience again?" "Is my replacement not up to snuff?" "Actually he moved on and has since gotten a replacement of his own." "I see. So many do you have? ... Is it just me or is everyone starting circles lately?" Granted my question came off as cynical. He downed the last of his beer. "What?" "Nothing, one of the mage's I work with wanted to start a circle, I wasn't having any of that." He smiled. "So your free then." "What exactly is entailed? Some kind of oath?" "Just a oath of secrecy, I don't want our business reaching ears that don't need to hear it." Ironically enough it was then I noticed the small white noise generator sitting next to him. He was taking this seriously.
I thought about it for a moment. "So where do I come in, in all of this?" "It's no secret I'm not a spell caster, I want you to teach them how to huck spells, I have the conjuring and enchanting part down. I only need you come in once or twice a week." "Dues?" "I get free labor out of them in return but that's it. I've got more then enough money to finance it thanks to you." I wasn't surprised. "Your still selling off that bug telsma?" "Hell yeah and I can charge whatever I want for it and people are paying, including other circles and triple A corps." That kinda side swiped me. I signaled for another glass. "So how many members do you have?" "Four total, you'd make five." "Hmmm, so your keeping it small?" "Yeah, I even bought another warehouse for our purposes." "Over on the docks?" "Yeah, I got the ancients running security too. It's smaller then my other two." "Two, I thought you only had one?" "I moved my growing operations away from my forge site."
I thought for another moment. "-and it's all for mutual benefit for the members as well?" "Of course, some of them are looking at initiating pretty soon. Speaking of... when are you going to again?" "With the help of a group and a ordeal I could probably initiate again soon." "See, you should join up. It's easy peesy for you." I sipped my wine and thought it over. It sounded good on paper but execution is rarely that simple. Still, teaching a few times a week was well within the realm of reasonable. "What's the circles name?" He cleared his throat. "We don't have one yet." "So you get free labor from then, your teaching them stuff and all you want from me is some teaching? Sounds simple enough."
"So you'll join?" I held up my hands. "Whoa partner, what aren't you telling me?" He rubbed his chin. "There's nothing hidden in the dark on this one. You godda teach and show up to help the group.... -and provide a little extra power now and again. All standard stuff but I shouldn't need to tell you that." "Uh-huh." I was starting to feel doubtful. "Even if you don't join I do have a favor to ask." "Here it comes." "No no, nothing like that. One of the members wants to learn channeling, a metamagic even I haven't mastered. I was hoping you could teach it to him, if you don't join I'll give you fifteen grand." Maybe it was the wine or maybe it was actually funny but I got a good laugh. Taz looked on puzzled. "That's a large incentive to join AFTER teaching him-" "Her." "-her channeling." I laughed a little bit more. "Since when do you worry about money so much?" I stopped giggling. "Honestly I don't know.... guess I'm getting old." It was Taz's turn to laugh. "I'm forty three , your not that old." "for a elf forty three is barely out of your mama's womb." We both had a good laugh.
"Look you don't have to answer right now, maybe sober up first... It's ironic I've watched people torturer you half to death, I've seen your insides and yet the only thing that really stops you is booze." I laughed again. "You've also seen half my heart." He shook his head and rubbed his face with his hands. "-oh gowd, don't remind me ." I snickered a bit. "Why do you work there? Dump those losers and come work for me. You could take my store front to a whole new level." I smiled. "I'm not entirely sure. A desk job doesn't sit well with me." He nodded. "That's true, even in collage you couldn't sit still." We spent the rest of the night drinking and laughing. In the end I had to use a antidote patch to clear my head. I was closer to my safe house then the commute.
I stopped at my favorite drive though coffee place and ordered my usual mocha. I showed up to my shift a few minutes early. I considered Taz's ofter to join his circle. In the end I decided to join and later that night I showed up at the warehouse out by the docs. It made sense he'd want his hidden places on ancient turf. They were some of the meanest motherfuckers you'd ever run across, plus the hallaweeners didn't like corps and Taz's enterprise would only keep growing.
When I showed up everybody was already there. A human male, a male orc and a female orc. <tht>No wounder their under grads. Orc's don't make the best mages. We had introductions and of course they all knew I was. Almost nine years later I was still a legend on campus. I still had trophy's on display and two records that hadn't been broken. Taz hadn't told me they knew who I was. The ritual to make me a member of the circle didn't take overly long. I took the Oath of secretly which also included following the groups rules.. It was familiar feeling. I looked over at Taz, "I guess you want me to start teaching." "Are Tuesdays and Fridays ok?" I shrugged. "Fine by me." The other members of course had a ton of questions and wanted me to huck a few spells so I humored them. This was about another 90 minutes.
Two weeks later.
I'd spent the last few week showing them how to properly throw a spell and they were coming along nicely. I was actually impressed. They knew the basics and simply needed someone to point out their mistakes although their art was slightly different from my own. We had to try a lot of different things but that didn't stop us all from learning as we went. After finishing a night of teaching one of the members asked me when I was going to initiate. None of them had ever seen the ritual done and they could see in my aura that I was ready. Taz even offered to cover the ritual costs. "I guess when we all find the time. How come you haven't yet?" "Hey, I'm still working on my spell casting, plus I just don't feel like it's time." "Isn't that why you joined a circle?" "Well true." "Like anything else in life you godda work hard for it. It isn't something that just comes to you one day."
Taz called me the next day. The group wanted to see, let alone partake in the ritual. They were excited. This was also in part because someday I would be helping them as well. Which I had no problems with, provided they pay their own way for the most part. The ritual was straight forward. Everyone helped setting up the ritual circle although they thought it was cool that I could use Animate object on the ink and do all the channeling parts, leaving them to fill in the formula's. I had to promise to teach Animate object or we'd never have gotten back on track.
The ritual it's self was straight forward. The others stood around in their designed spots and I sat in the middle. I focused my thoughts inward and allowed myself to see beyond the murky boarders of my mind. What I saw astounded me. As I floated though a sea of colors I could feel new vanes of knowledge enter my mind. My senses extended far beyond what they normally could. Words don't describe what a wonderful feeling it is to become one with the universe but as quickly as it started it was over. For me only a moment went by but for everyone else much more time had passed. I felt renewed, my senses burned anew. As strange as it might sound, initiating was better then sex.
The others looked at my aura. I looked over to Taz while the group stared at my aura. "I'm only one level behind you, better get cracken." We all shared dinner, a late dinner. We talked and learned more about each other but of course being mages the talk was mostly about magic but I did tell them some old war stories, keeping the sensitive parts vague. "So what metamagic are you gonna learn shade?" "Well... I was hoping I could get Taz here to teach me masking." He nodded. "Of course and since we're in the same group I'll gladly not charge." The others couldn't wait for their chance to initiate.
Once again I returned to the commute, with a full belly and a new power surging though me. It took Taz less then a week to teach me and that was in between our teaching the other members.
Normally I lived by the rule don't ask too many questions about your teammates pasts but it was native of me to think they hadn't. So over the last few months I had been gathering hair samples from the showers covertly. I used a watcher to make sure no one was coming and of course I kept gloves and baggies on me at all times. In chucks case I had to get a dermal flake since not all trolls have hair. I even covertly got high quality pics of them. Four eye's was the biggest problem but after a few days of experimenting I figured out to beat his detect spell. I felt stupid that I never tried t before but you live and learn... in case your wondering my experiments were me standing around invisibly and waiting to see if he looked at me. When using spell defense I actually flipped him off and made faces and not once did he look my way. Stealth spell helped too.
With pictures and DNA samples in hand I often went out to Safecrackers and had him run them though the Seattle databases, including KE and the Star as well and company database's he could get into. He exhausted every Seattle data system. I happened to be taking it easy on one of his couches. "I've tapped all the Seattle databases but there's still a few people who don't show up." I rubbed my chin. Bishop had a English accent. "Try decking into Britain based databases." "That'll take while given lag and all." "Take your time. I'm in no rush now that I got Four eyes pinned down." It actually floored me that he went to collage. Of course I kept all this secret. Plus I now had ritual samples of everyone so if they tried double crossing us I can long range nail them with a the biggest fireball I could possibly summon.
Everyone would be highly upset if they knew I had ritual samples of them. I kept my "database" up to date so I had to carefully gather Blackout's sample as well. I had to be covert about it as I didn't want everyone ripping me a new one. It wasn't really my style but it seemed appropriate given my situation. I even managed to get a sample from Meg after digging one of her soycaf cups out of the garbage and had SC culture it for me so it could grow big enough to actually sequence her DNA and of course I had SC look into her as well. He was #8 on Seattle's hottest deckers list. So finding out he had been looking would be difficult, time consuming and expensive. I also had him dig into her little business venture but when it came to Aztech every decker knew to take your time, so instead of being a few days I had to wait a few weeks on that one. Waiting for info from the Brittan hacks would take a few more weeks so I was currently waiting on them.
In the mean time I had to keep up with my duties, however I told SC not to revel anything when he called. I warned him on my first visit that Meg was tapping all traffic, I wasn't sure if that meant our comms as well but we weren't taking chances. When he did call the line was heavily encrypted and layered with lethal IC and databombs. Cold sim users got their shit crashed hardcore and hordes of virii and dataworms. ((R6-8, and they better have backups of their proggies and such.)) Over the years it had become a habit of mine to drive though ally ways and car storage parks. My routes were always designed to force a tail out into the open and when I got to SC's he had bug scanners and wireless jammers to help prevent people from tracking me back to his place.
((Basically wolf, if your not sure ask but odds are Shade and SafeCracker have already considered it and designed his fortress around it.))
I dig out my receipts for my spirit summoning. Meg said she would cover everything. I brought four receipts. Each for a force 4 spirit. Which came out to a grand total of 16k. She looked them over. “You could have brought these in sooner. “I've been busy hunting down vampires and studying for my Th.D” “Well good luck to you. It'll be nice having another doctor around.” "Thanks." Meg cut me a cred stick. When I uploaded the cred into my hidden account it was automatically washed as a extra free service from the quote "bank."

Hunter chuckled softly. "I was only referring to the Eatting Poo part. Realy wasnt meaning anything about you by it. I mean, I could see it happening with lots of alcohol... Ive seen lots of weird things caused by alcohol... such as a dwarf go home with a troll.... Dont know who got the worse end of that one really...."

Shade looked back to Hunter. "I was referring to their blood and saliva and as I said, being infected can get pretty rough." For a moment it appears Shade mentally travels someplace before coming back. "If you can nailed on a arm and I can't get the infected blood or tissue out I'll have to amputate.... -and yes I know it works. So let's not let it come to that." He checked in with his watchers when he looked out of it for a moment. "Watchers are reporting all clear, for the moment."
Shade suddenly chuckles. "-the troll I bet."

Hunter lets out a sigh as he looks around, taking in the situation. "Hunting time boys" he says with a little bit of mirth in his voice. He switches to Thermo on his cyber eyes, and amplifies the hearing as well. "I guess ill take point.. well, after the watcher of course.... Which way?"

(OOC - back from hols - ready to delve into the darkness... Take it that you have thought about what sort of kit you need - no need to put out detailed lists but if you wish to add anything to your own character's lists please do - could be useful at a later date. anything obviously strange you should let people know - like bigger magics or heavy weaponry Ghouls are as far as you know - a 'goblinised' human. the virus strain that is transmitted will infect a host and 50/50 create another ghoul. the blood and more usually saliva injected in a bite can transfer the viral strain.. claws can too. they are known to be 'cunning hunters' with an animal intelligence rather than plotting an ambush they will react to sound & smell then take appropriate actions.. lots of fresh blood tends to set off a frenzy. Some ghoul hunters use blood buckets or they freshly gut a dog to attract the ghouls then kill them off - very dangerous. thinking ghouls will revert to these animalistic feral ghouls after not being able to replenish their supply of human dna.. indicating that these thinking 'human' ghouls are snacking away on somebody's blood organs or children in order to keep themselves sane) Shade is drawing in strings and taking care to protect and cover himself - the dna samples can be collected - the Commute building is covered by a powerful lodge warding which protects against spirit and spell intrusion including passing through with active spells. Once inside you can cast even though the place usually has a dozen plus people inside - so is pretty busy - but Shade will have waited carefully for opportunities. Intel on Meg is quite easy to dig out - background stuff. Current contracts are protected by Great Britain security (most countries will have AAA government security) She is well known in academic circles- you could happily unearth some of her doctorate papers or university work through college connections.

During the time between finding a way in and actually going into Car Fax, Henri spends most of it in front of a data term studying two files recently bought from Loxoceles. At the end of his 'study period' he is capable of sterilising bio matter left behind by living creatures using two methods. The first is the conventional magical method that left a slight odour of hospital cleanser behind. The second is less conventional, involving a gout of flame that cooks everything in it's path. Henri practices with this spell, aiming to be able to control the fire's intensity until he can use if to light anything from a candle to a bonfire.
OOC: Learning Sterilise at F4 & Flame Thrower at F5, I know that's 9 karma spent. Can't remember how much yen, don't have access to my books right now.

Henri - your sterilise spell remove all connections - bit like bleaching the whole area - including people in it.. no need for showers any more! all the bugs that live off your dead skin and sweat will die of starvation and you will smell - well - neutural ! you would look 'scrubbed clean' with shiny pink skin rather than a weather-worn down-at-heel look. Nothing a touch of make-up or a handfull of dirt would cover up again.
Speaking of which - how long will a sample of your dna last in a freezer? so that it remains a viable sample..
This would be pertinent for Meg too as she will have dna samples of most employees through the docwagon connection.
same should really go for any high skills you take up - (Meg and Commute are a known magical organisation - though a lot of time and cash have gone into protecting the mechanics of what goes on in the place. Outside interest would usually focus on trying to find out what is going on inside - which may lead to outside parties wanting to know who you all are so you can be approached and bribed..
lots of practice will need somewhere to practice in and other people may well get to see how good you are and the word spreads.. you can take the time and trouble to be covert about it and therefore avoid a rep. (like Shade has done) this could cost you yen to buy off silence or you may have to avoid collecting in a payment or three so you dont draw attention to yourself.
(I know that around 100,000 yen has been used up like this !)
we shall be moving across to the new thread 'Belly Rumbles'
Can people indicate if you have silencers on your main armament..

Bishop maintained a firm grip on the Predator as he held his position, stacked to the side of the door and listening carefully. His ears strained to pick up any sounds of movement as the crosshair feedback from the smartlink drifted in the lower portion of his vision and a small display confirmed that the weapon was fully loaded.
No sounds came from within the room, though he was certain they were in there, laying in wait - three orcs with a score to settle.
He reached forward, grabbing the handle with his left hand and pushing the door open firmly and allowing it to swing gently and reveal the contents of the room to him as it opened. Giving the door a dramatic kick may have been more satisfying at first, but most likely would have ended with him sprawled embarrassingly in the corridor or entering the room to be greeted by the door returning to him from its impact with the wall on the other side.
A vast proportion of humans and meta-humans are right-handed, and so the left side of the door is the most likely position to attempt to ambush the unwary from. Bishop therefore entered and bore immediately left through the door, his pistol rising from the ready position to lead the way.
He barrelled straight into one of the orcs, predicably laying in wait beside the door. The orc clamped a shovel-like hand over Bishop's right arm, attempting to stop the Brit from raising his pistol and firing. The orc's reward was two shots into his legs before Bishop was able to make a grab for the brute, now screaming in surprise.
The room erupted in semi-automatic gunfire, though most shots fell wide as the shooters tried to avoid hitting their own man. Bishop unflinchingly received two gel rounds to his arm and ribs as he spun the first orc around into a choke hold and used him as a (meta) human shield before turning on the two remaining shooters...

"No fair, breeder" Dropkik protested, dusting himself off as he picked himself up of the floor. "Those first two hits would have dropped you like a sack of drek if this was the real deal."
"Shut yer cakehole, Dropkik." Turner chimed in as he passed around three beer bottles. "That pissy lil' peashooter of yours couldn't bruise a peach, let alone an angry limey."
"Yeah, well speakin' of peaches, if the big man had been around you woulda got your ass tanned fer sure." Dropkik retorted persistently. "An' besides, real fraggin' bullets cause a helluva lot more pain than gel rounds."
Let’s get started, shall we?
Bishop loaded more gel rounds into a clip, ready to go another round.
"Pain? I can handle pain..."
