Look at this tester as 'earlier on' - you will be brought up to speed with the current situation like everyone else - lets take the lot across to 'The Belly' - tie up any loose ends you wish.. see ya there

After eight and a half years I held no illusion what Blackout was doing but while I couldn't heard what was said, I hadn't sen any hint of betrayal in his aura so I wasn't worried. "Bug scanning isn't my department... unless we're talking bug spirits." I smiled at Blackout's talk of a tail while I followed him to his van. What Blackout didn't know was I had three F3 watchers keeping eyes out, if we were being tailed I'd know about it pretty quickly as they zeroed in on the intent.
"Thanks for looking at my nuker, I'll bring it back to the commute when my shift is over later. Till then I guess you'll need directions." I gave Blackout directions in real time rather then trying to enplane it all at once.

by the way - commute is generally used as a transport term and would be very lame for the company having no relevance.. however it is also an alchemy term - to transform from one substance to another - 'to commute lead to gold'. This I believe is not so lame.

I would think it can be done - but in an industrial atom-rearranging process which involves vast amounts of power in order to remove electrons to adjust the atomic signature itself. and producing tiny amounts. bit like industrial diamonds...

Gold is a mineral meaning it can't be broken down into anything else. The process would have to be magical rather then industrial.

There's this thing called "nuclear fission", I guess you haven't heard of it. Anything can be broken down, though finding the things you break subatomic particles down into is pretty hard.
Sarcasm aside, actually joining subatomic particles together in such a precise way to produce a stable gold isotope would probably cost hundreds or thousands times more than the gold is worth.
I think he means "commune" not "commute".
I wasn't aware I was supposed to be along for the ride in Belly of the Beast, I'll read up and post when able.

(alright let's wrap this up then.)
Shade and Blackout head back to HQ. If their still being tailed, Shade's watchers quickly catch on and Shade politely asks Blackout to have her stop following them, returning takes 20-30 minutes. When they return Shade has to lean over Blackout to have the guard slot his ID card. Blackout his issued a restricted access ID card and life goes on.
((lock it down Wolf.))

(just out of curiosity, I have to wonder, how do the spirits do that? I mean, she's hanging three to four blocks back, if they just check every single vehicle that's in a four block radius they're going to have hundreds of vehicles to check, and that's assuming they're under specific orders to check four blocks, rather than two or twenty blocks or can they pick up intent, in which case what would they find, "following someone"? even then there's a good chance there'll be more than one vehicle with people of that intent - even then, are they 100% reliable? "F3" doesn't sound like much as I said, I'm just curious, in theory I'll have a go at a mage someday... when I know the system better )

They zero in on intent though aura reading and I don't think Peaches is in a high traffic area. You also have to figure that the watchers could simply hang in the air and go "hey that van has been following my master for several blocks now", also key in that Shade knows how to look for a tail and on a straight away (which he would make sure you got on) she would stick out after three or four times. Shade is no fool and even after a while it simply adds up for Shade and his spirits. Also figure while your on a straight away Shade would pop out for a look of his own. He's been doing this for roughly eight and a half yrs now. However, if you prefer I could send my much more intelligent elametnals on a seek and destroy mission.

rearranging molecules - yes Blackout that was what I was thinking about and the cost would be prohibitive - even if power is cheap the tech involved would be enormous. (some sort of collider maybe firing atomic lead into whatevers.. )
magic can do it - there are roumours of the philosopher's stone hunted for by alchemists since alchemy began
watchers are like dogbrain drones int of 2 or 3 - they are perfectly fine with understanding a simple command that involves little intuition on their part - something of a higher order of understanding would be beyond them .. so 'check that we are not being followed' would come back within twenty seconds saying 'boss there's a car on our tail' strangely there is traffic behind you and sure enough ther is a car on your tail.
for this you would need stealth or driving skill to determine the movement of the other cars vs their stealth or driving to stay far enough back...
