((Hmm..I'm no mage or anything..I cut down the magical mumbo-jumbo to laymen's terms and example everyone can understand and all..but you know..since everyone's working on big ass spirtis and elementals..maybe put a ward 'round the place?..the building should be easy..dunno if we can do the same for the outer fence as well..and have them configured so I can pass in without loosing my spells..))

((I thought about that already. Me, Micro and herri could possably do the whole site. We'd have to build the ward in large curved pizza slices. How long it takes depends on the force.))

Chuck sees no extra cred coming so he heads out to the local bars and establishments to see who he can meet. He'll chat up the bar tenders, hookers, shop owners, gang member's, local street cops, and wear house guards in the area. Drop a 2 or 3 k worth of cred to make new friends. Also he'll pay closer attention to the way he talks and acts during the week while also watching how other people do the same. Wants to : Etiquette_2(3) to 3(3) for 4 karma Charisma_2 to 3 for 6 karma Total of 10 karma. I thinks that's all he has left

Micro chats with Illiya - she is very attentive and after a while Micro gets the idea that she is hearing him out - being an 'active listener' much like a mentor will listen to their 'charge' - she certainly seems to care - she takes it all in and replies..
You got a lot of questions there Micro and I can answer most of them. For starters I can see in your aura that you are a lot more attuned to the astral than you were a wile back - you have visited the elemental planes as the colours ar more vibrant. What you need is to go that step further. You have explored and had a gander now you need to concentrate on your request. The search and tasks are varied depending on the person but they follow similar patterns - there are a series of tasks or problems to work through - we think of these tasks as the concious wrestling with the unconcious in order to fathom out a way to connect correctly.
Shamen often have a series of what they term as heroquests where there are prescribed encounters Raccoon will have to steal and trick their way past obstacles or Bear may heal and fight them instead
- your own tradition may have similar.. is there a specific formulaic style of magic that you follow? Many often meet the raw materials of their craft - calligraphers encounter wood representing the pen - earth or water representing inks - a mathematical practitioner may encounter numbers or patterns which require solving and so on.. tasks which have a connection.
For everyone you have to maintain a clear goal - access to formula or an ally or a name - the quest must be for something. The end of the quest may well provide you with something that you could revisit with a little more ease next time. A destination which can be revisited - a Camelot, Childe Roland's Dark Tower, the Sacred Grove all are classical tales from awakened poets and storytellers.
It is up to you - the journey is yours - the destination is your own astral self making sense of the journey for your phisical being. We believe that the journey is similar for everyone, the destination and the benefits too. This leads to the conclusion that the astral is merely viewed differently by each traveller.
Set aside time - the journey may take minutes or days - protection for your physical too.
concentrate on your single goal - one thing only at a time. the benefit you wish to gain will be countered by the difficulty.
Regarding large spirits - the corps engage their mages to burn power in regular ceremonies onsite. Most tend to be creation of wardings for a year and a day, or binding elementals. Problem with elementals is the big ones either destroy all trespassers meaning you need a totem to remain a guest - therefore this pass-key is accessible to runners - or they just patrol and alert local security.
They are limited because they are difficult and expensive to control - one or two tasks if you are lucky for a lot of yen-cost.
Speaking of yencost you might want to ask Four-Eyes if there is anything spare that I may be able to supply.. I wouldnt point you in his direction under ordinary circumstances however you are part of this group and I want to look after your wellbeing.
As for a summoning site - if you got the material stuffs and the summoning circle - go ahead! the bigger you want the more element you need. for massive ones you need a whole lake or a massive blaze ... remember your aura could be traceable - and the authorities dont like mages with access to a huge physical potential for damage.
Where.. well a back garden could encourage a controllable spirit knid of under your magical capability - but a football pitch would be needed for a heluva big one - but still potentially controllable up to twice your capability. Bigger is for coven summonings and days of preparation.. which would be noticed.
Now - have you found any further parasites..?
And can we provide you with anything?
As a final point, Meg is setting up a college 'spur' here in Seattle - would you know if she has any dealings with Aztechnology..?

Wards for the Big Top site (the name of the company is 'Commute') - not required - there is a heavy lodge inside of the main building covering floor to ceiling of the living and working quarters. it does not cover the front office or outside in the floral maze.
to cover the whole site with wardings would be a massive task - standard is 50 cubic m x magic - that would be a 5m tall x 1 m wide x 60 long ... that could create four walls around the outer fence you would need another dozen to fill the tent roofspace around 20 would get the place watertight at 10 karma a go .. anyone got 200karma to burn? - the lodge inside suddenly seems really cheap -
big frondy plants would do better - obscuring a mage's view in astral - a hothouse is usually a great place to chat unobserved by astral interlopers! they cant get through the shrubbery and find it tough to see/listen unless real close.
The mages say it is tough to see things in the flower racks as the veg hides those rat-zap auto drones. the bots are indestinguishable from crete blocks - no life in them an you have to get upclose to identify them. Someone makes a comment about putting a basket of flowers on top of them - and they do blend in a lot better!

Chuck - the industrial area is pretty deserted during on-shift times. There are two recreation areas on the industrial estate which cater for truck drivers - employee snax - real caf treats - games machines for some R&R between shifts - pretty basic stuff. Outside of the industrial site however..
There are a bundle of apartment buildings an small shops close by - but the noticable main area is the S-E docks area as you know much of the area north of this is yak-land. There are clubs bars restrooms an coffin hotels and a lot of asian sammies noticably lurking in doorways.
So when you walk into the city this is the first area you will have to stroll through - under the shadow of the Renraku Arcology.. the huge strugture which is currently patrolled on the outside by the Metro Guard and Knight Errant.. there are roumours of atrocities and also huge data-nodes to be snatched - if you could get inside...
Yaks and Renraku... Jeeze - now Chuck mentions it - a couple of you remember the Wendigo... who was the guy murdered..? some chinese wage-slave deckker.. diddnt one of you deck into the site while on the bus then share out a big bundle of yen...
Chuck hasnt really approached Meg or F-E regarding potential goods an services from the company yet.. You can see that the place is spellworm heavy an even the other sammies are all straight fleshies - your thoughts on some 'ware are not reflected by the others - they dont seem to want to know or discuss much about implants and the like... theres plenty of adverts on the 'trix though for you to browse...
Chuck begins his prowl of the nearby area - it is tough work to lower your voice and to move less 'solid' in order to reduce the shock in their eyes. After a few days of 'popping in' to various shops and buying crap you will never use - and using a little shopping carry-basket, you see yourself blending. Could be your stylish leathers you have unpacked.. an adjustment in attitude from 'pulp em' to 'pay em' - oh and not smiling too much - that REALLY scared one guy..
There is always the occasional nerk who either shits themselves or tries to pull a blade as you turn the corner towards them - you can hear their nervous laughter in the background once you pass. There used to be a time when there would be no nervous laughter.. you remember the line about 'putting the S into laughter' when you would have sliced an diced em.. different days different ways..
So this is what it is like to be (kinda) legit..?

((wards don't cost karma, unless i missed something.))
A group's total successes = weeks of warding
compared to a permanent ward = karma forever
so medium term use a group for a few weeks - or fork out karma for a permanrnt F12 warding.. or even F18 if you are paranoid

Around midnight, a phone call rings at the Commute. A young Ork, maybe in his early 20s, red copper hair is on screen
"Yeah, hi. Is Meg around?"
After some switching around..
"Meg?..yeha you fit the bill..Listen, I'm a friend of four-eyes; he told me to tell you he'll be away for a few days..gettin' stuff for some bishop...oh yeah and wait for him to meet..huuuumm...someone who sounds like Illiatoya or somethin'.."

"...and this is the canteen." Bishop said, Harley following at his side.
"Feel free to grab something to eat - I have to get in touch with our fearless leader."
Bishop walks away, leaving Harley to her own devices as he takes out his pocsec and begins typing Four-Eyes an email that can be read at his leisure.
"Further to our short introduction to tactics and room clearing, I think it might be worth investing in setting up a killing house for team training and dividing our crew into fireteams - it seems to be continuously growing and too many cooks may start to spoil the broth.
It'll give people chance to get used to working with the same partners all the time, increasing the chances of peak performance communication. If it makes you feel better we can call it a "subduing house" instead of a killing house.
...Just don't put me in Shade's fireteam."

Harley looked around at the maze of fences and overhead netting - the lot was very different from the outside view of the tent-shaped white awning covering the whole place. Inside was a lot of greenery lots of sun-rai lamps to promote growth, then every so often a shoebox sized minibot ratcatcher had been mentioned so..
Bishop led her inside - the only enrtance (Sod Health and safety!) was the front office - easy to see it was armoured plas - the rainbow tints gave it away the more reinforcement the more light refraction = more rainbows .. and this was maxed out. Light security doors - bah.. meant you couldnt bust the walls instead! so the whole lot was roughly the same
Harley looked up - the tent roofing was woven on with steel cable to the guttering area - meant it wasnt going to collapse easily - unless someone wanted to blow a big hole in the tent roof. She looked at it for a while and could see a criss-cross network against the feeble Seattle sunshine.. some knda toughening
the plant walls provided good protection and the netting overhead was easily heavy enough to carry a big sultana
they entered the office door which closed behind them then three seconds later the internal opened allowing them access to the inside....
Bishop was a silent ball-buster - a fraggin isolated island - Harley dusted her ass and looked around at the others as she strolled into the main area - crap it was big ... upwards
she was used to tall thin alleyways or low squat dives to drink in - this was different - not sky different but it was tall very tall.. an them big squat brix machines - power all around too - conduits an heavy cables - hot
kilns workbenches and plenty of storage - your own terminals too all linked int Britcit Univers-ity Benny called out in his strangely scratchy voice to the students...

((Sidenote: we should cutb the security system from the matrix; make it a 'closed circuit' thing))
The 3 runners were lying in bed in the rented cabin; a defeat for some fresh air and Four-Eyes was clear of them. A short trip to the Ranger Station to say hello to Captain Bridges and the Rangers, alongside looking into the rental files, showed the cabin was rented by a certain Edward Fox. Maybe a fake name (it generally is) but something to check up on later.
The Stand were starting to close down for the night, it was almost 11PM, but he did managed to get a woodland camo fullsuit, a Bushnell 3-9 scope and a rifle toolkit for 3500 Nuyen. He even managed to place a quick order to the old Ork reloader for some AR rounds; Silver, silver AP and AP rounds. The old man was going down into the 'Big Smoke' as they say here in a few days. Four-Eyes will have to get him some little extra cash for the delivery services.
'Trouble is now..what does those 3 wanted with a sample of a Wendigo? Corporate interest's the safe bet. But how their employer, let's say "Mr. Fox" for now, managed to track the site so precisely....maybe someone from the Times talked, or maybe Peaches or Fryer did.....Shit like I got time to check that out..Oh well 'nother reason to call Lianna..and maybe another crap to talk with Illiya..Bah 'might as well enjoy m'self and get me some beer f'now.

After getting the info from Meg, and the terms for the job, Wrench was left to his own devices apparently. So instead of immediately tracking someone down to check with, he decided to do a walk through of the area. He noted the various security, the guns and the fences. He did a quick walk around the outside as well to see what the area was like before returning inside. All in all, it wasn’t too bad.
He headed inside to get familiar with the inside layout. And now he was starting to look for some people. His fellow runners really. Hopefully they were solid and good at the physical security. It was time to get to know the rest of the crew.
Find someone in the galley who wasn’t one of their protectees, he headed over.
“Hoi, chummer. I’m the rigger that just joined the team; Wrench. Just did a walk through and figured I’d check in and see if someone’s coordinating the group. Would certainly make things a lot easier I’d think.”

When the rigger moved towards Harley who had found somewhere to take a seat...the cat eyes retracted, becoming thin slits within her pupils as she stared...the tail flicking and drawing attention to itself as Wrench starts to realize he's talking to one of the reputed SURGE victims.
"I'm not the team leader....I just got signed on."

Wrench nodded as he looked on the fellow new-hire. He moved over and sat in an empty chair. "Never met a SURGEd before," he added half to himself before shrugging. Appearances weren't everything and were usually lies anyway.
Extending his hand, he raised an eyebrow. "Nice to meet you. Would you like to share your name? Please don't make me guess or come up with nicknames; it's often too degrading. So what's your 'area' in this?"
