OOC: I swear to god, women were put on this earth just to annoy us men. Anyway...
Henri checks the lair over with Freddy and is impressed by the layout, if a little worried by the fact they all know it's bugged. While they're on the astral he listens to Freddy mentioning biofiber and FAB. "We don't know if we're gonna be here permenantly yet. Before we go spending huge amounts of cred, why not just throw up some polarized wards?"

Its not our cred ! In fact the original guy who unexpectedly dissappeared organised this place - yup wards would be good - but take power to keep up -
we could isolate one room with biofibre board and put a white noise generator into it - then use the place to plan and discuss.. that would be easier than trying to buy in a big bugscanner
Henri - us practitioners should also get a thorough reading of everyone in the team - so we know what their astral signature should be. With shapechangers around we need to know who we really are. Another job for us.
BB should check any of the matrix link wiring, for a tap on what we are looking at.
Just a thought - if Nestle is too solid to get into, then if we can talk to Tony nicely (Hah!), he may have access into Nestle... now theres a route to explore, he is bound to have access to a lot of Nestle info or easy routes int their system.. but thats for another day.
What are you like on summoning up elementals Henri? I can whistle up spirits one at a time to give us quick cover and movement - you can keep a few on call cant you? what sort of cost is required in preparing a couple of them - I remember you need the element like a bonfire or a lake, just like I need to be in the right place to call up a specific spirit. They would be well useful in providing instant support - but they are costly arnt they?
You mentioned getting jacked up - it will result in you limiting your magical manipulation.. My folks thought it would be useful to have some embedded tech - before I got the calling - it makes me more of a jack of all - as a result I have to work harder at manipulating the ether..
Is it worth it? I can jack into the matrix, but dont have time to build a deck or study the latest in programmes much. hey, Pelch has a datajack - wonder if he has surf experience...

Bobby got up and downed the last of his cold beer before waving to BB to follow him. They were given their assignment first, and sent off, so Wheels wasn't going to wonder what the others' assignments were for the time being...
Widow had said, "... take BB to "The Lair". I want her to start researching whatever she can find on Nestle personnel files and operations then match those with incoming ships and flights to include the Zeppelins. Let's find out if Nestle's is sending people this way. Then I want you to see about getting us 'UN-BUGGED' in 'The LAIR'. After you do that I want you and BB to come up with a non commercial communications rig that the enemy can't tap easily and it has to be so simple to operate even PELCH can use it. No one leaves the Lair until everyone has such set. Off you two go."
"My name is Bobby, but you can call me Wheels. I'm the rigger. You're the decker hunh? Well we got our work cut out for us. Got any ideas on a non-comercial communicator of some sort? We got us some secure data ports in 'The Lair'. Hope you will be impressed...."
She's kinda young but I was pretty young when I started too. Didn't someone say something about her being a pacifist? That's going to be a bit of a problem...Speaking of problems. How the drek am I supposed to stop sound from travelling up and down ducts? They are going to know something is going on and be sure to change or remove whatever it is, that I put in the ducts to stop the noise from travelling there...hmm....I need to talk to an engineer...
The two of them walked the 3 blocks over to Ace Tomato chatting politely and getting to know one another. Bobby runs her thru the security systems and asks for her observations. The two start talking shop as he gives the grand tour, sets her up in a room and gets her familiar with the Lair in general. She sets up in the security room and starts doing research. Bobby added a couple things to her list including doing some research on Tony, and finding some sort of non-Comercial comms devices, maybe something that they could scratch build.
In the mean time, Bobby searched around and gathered an odd variety of electronic components left over from the original tenant of the Lair. He begins searching thru data bases and havens for something that will suit both their bugging problem and their communications problems.
Engineering test to see if he finds something: Engineering 4
[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6]
A couple hours pass, and Bobby unplugs from the search, rubbing his forehead as a headache is beginning to form. Getting up from his station, he sees BB is still plugged in and hard at it. Wandering out into the main room, Bobby sees Henri and Freddy sitting at the main Tri-d couch, heads together as the go over something on the table in front of them. Not wanting to disturb them, he continues on his way to the kitchen were he finds some food that someone prepared. Sniffing suspiciously, Bobby tries some and then finding it passable, eats his fill, readying a plate for BB absentmindedly.
Returning to the security vault, Bobby notes the others returning, but JJ is not with them. Stopping at the door, Bobby talks to Pelch. "Don't touch that pile on the table there. I'm working with that. And come here. I wanna talk to you about that deal I was mentioning..." Bobby turns and reenters the security room, where he removes the Ares Pistol from his belt. "My proposal is this. You teach me how to shoot this bad boy here, good enough to be useful, and I'll start teaching you about electronics. Comms gear and what not first, and then other stuff later. Whaddaya say?"[rand=4514948998646897308921854890618538274536894223719149138300722431]

OOC: Pe1ch, "Thanks to the marvels of BT networking I was out of the loop a bit. Luckily we have not proceeded too far so I can play catch-up or is that catsup? Time to get to work."
Pelch wandered into the Lair with Mao in tow. Pulling up a chair and small table loaded with junk he sat down with the inner door open so he could look down the tunnel to the main door. "Guard Duty is so boring. I can't believe the 'Stupid Cow' gave me this meaningless job. We have detectors and guards on the guards already. Like we can stop anyone that gets in this far! I guess I got the first eight hours of boredom. You got the second and Quick can take the third when he finally shows up. Why is it when someone becomes the boss their IQ drops 10 points in the first five minutes?"
Mao looked at Pelch with a serious expression, "The same reason that when you are not the Boss that your IQ immediately jumps 100 points and you can do everything better, smarter and faster than the Boss. Stop griping. You lost, Thank the Powers for that. You would have been a really terrible boss." Mao adjusted his hat and went into the back to check on explosives.
Pelch glared and then extended his middle digit at Mao's back and muttered under his breath, "Go take a flying BLEEP at a rolling donut!"
A minute later Wheels walked out of the Security room and looked at Pelch sitting in front of the door looking down the tunnel. Comm gear and what not first, and then other stuff later. Whaddaya say?" He then notices that Pelch is not there! Glaring he walks back out and sees the dwarf sitting and still looking down the tunnel. "Did you hear me?"
Pelch doesn't even look at Bobby as his eyes scan the tunnel, "I heard you, you traitor you. When did I become your hoop kissing BUTTBOY? You slot me over and then act like you own me? Just because you changed your fragging vote I have to sit here at this stupid post on GUARD for the next fragging eight hours. You voted for that, that....Tonfa playing COW, and not only do I have to kiss a million away and kiss her fragging hoop, now I got to sit here listening to you and doing this useless job for the next eight fragging hours and as far as I know I ain't getting diddly for it. So if you want to talk to me, you'll have to do it right here because I'm not moving my ARSE from my job just to accommodate you now. I got my orders. You want someone to teach you to shoot? Go talk to Quick. He's in charge of the fragging range and he ain't got diddly to do but help the Green boys. I ain't in the mood right now to do anyone any favors."
Wheels glared and was about to respond when he stopped a moment and thought. If he was Pelch how would he be feeling right now? He decided that maybe this was NOT the time and went back into the Security Room and then past that to the computer area. BB was there getting things organized for her research. She smiled as he came in, "I was thinking about your bugging problem. Why do we have to be like "TOTALLY" bug free? We could leave the bugs running and set up one area with hush screens. A meeting area, maybe. That way when we do have something to say there we just turn them on. Hush screens are pretty cheap. I noticed from the supply list we have several portable ones in stock in the back supply room. It would take about an hour to set them up. Then we just turn them on when we need them after we scan the area or we can keep moving the area around if we want. "
As he considered this possibility, Freddy and Henri wandered in. Freddy spoke, "The Fab IV treatment is good. It covers everything. The only way a spirit could get in is when the door is opened. Considering that Ace appears to have several Security Mages on watch over the building, I suspect that magically we are pretty safe. " Henri nodded in agreement, "I also took a good aura read on everyone in the lair and will get the rest when they show. I wouldn't mind getting a ritual sample from each for tracing purposes as well."
BB spoke up quickly, "I'll also need blood, tissue and DNA samples to store in the medical area in case we need cloned parts. I'll set up appointments with each of you and you guys can get your ritual samples and I'll store them at the same time. I'll have to do that later though, right now I have orders to do some decking. She attached a small wire thin jack to a small receptacle behind her left ear and leaned back in a reclining chair with and appeared to go to sleep."
Freddy looked at her, "One of us is going to have to stay and watch her. If the I.C.E. gets her we need to jack her back out fast."
Wheels spoke fast, "I'm working on the bugging and comm problem. Mao seems to be sorting explosives. I don't think this is a good time to bother him. Quick and Widow aren't here yet. That leaves one of you two."
Henri smiled, "I'll do it. I need to think things through a minute and it seems easy enough. Especially since we are about as economically secured magically as we can be at the present time. You guys go do what you need to do."

Widow watched as JJ took the chair across the table from her. JJ was about to speak when Widow held up her hand. "Before you start, the situation has changed. All the group except Quick are now working for me. Before you offer the next job I want you to either give me control of Quick as well, or he walks out of the group now. I am not going through another mess like the last one with a split command."JJ sat back and looked at Widow with no expression. "Don't you think that would be Quick's choice?""No, I don't. I've seen the way he is. He's going to be loyal to Dom and you, only, unless you give him specific orders to the contrary. If you and Dom tell him that he has to take my orders he will. Otherwise he's going to continue to do what he thinks he should, when he should, and that may not fit my plans. You and Dom can't have it both ways. You want a team? You want a team leader? Then you are going to have to let me build said team without interference and back seat second guessing from you or Dom. I want the freedom to make my own mistakes, without your hindsight kicking in." Widow stated bluntly. "If we don't do that?" JJ asked quietly. Widow smiled, "Then I take my part of the group OUT and maybe go work for Smythe down at the ACE. He's already breathing down my hoop anyway wanting to get something on Dom or even Krass. We already have a setup location so it wouldn't be much of a switch. Then Quick can come back and work for you while we go about keeping body and soul together.""Isn't that a little disloyal?""By your lights possibly, but look at it from my end. Both runs we did , Dom deliberately held back info. I can live with that, and I'm sure he had his reasons. He was testing us. Well testing time is over. He either starts to fund us and give us what we need and time to prepare for said runs, or we go to someone who can. That means if he had the bright idea of pointing us to save Krass's hoop, the answer is NO. We aren't ready and we've been running from pillar to post with no prep time. If he wants us as a team we need to start getting a stable building foundation and that is going to take some time. That means we all get legit SIN's as working for this company and we get a steady paycheck and funding. When we get set up and ready then we take on the cases Dom wants done. Anything else is unacceptable.""So, you want command of the group, you want a steady paycheck and legitimate status and you want funding. Then you work for us and take on the jobs Dom wants?""If they are within reason and fit why we are hired, then yes.. you wanted us to be an intelligence unit. That means body-guarding, full on assaults, and intimidation are not our jobs, and I want rights of refusal in those cases. You give us intelligence, subversion, data steals, even corporate defections and lift outs and we will do our best.""That seems fair enough if we get what we want. Now you mentioned a paycheck and FUNDING. Just what do you have in mind?" "The paycheck will be prorated. When we have no job we are talking 1,000 a week for each person. Working it will be the thousand plus whatever we negotiate in bonus's as part of the contract. The tougher the job the bigger the bonus. Funding is this, medical, life insurance, equipment loss and replacement, and a contingency fund like I already have, so I don't have to come to you every time I need equipment. I also want Smythe off my backside and I am sure you can arrange that as well.""How did Smythe get into the funding issue?""I figured you might have to pay him off or his bosses. It could be expensive and I wanted that cost from your end." Widow stated smiling. JJ looked at Widow, "You want an awful lot. I'm not so sure your worth it."
Widow's smile got wider, "Oh we are more than worth it and you know it. Want me to tell you why?"JJ looked at Widow warily, "I don't know if I have time for bedtime stories here. Just what do you think you know that makes you so valuable?""The level of INTEREST we have aroused." Widow stated bluntly. "Why the interest if we are just a run of the mill group of runners? "JJ laughed, "Come now, some runs generate more interest than others. Some runners even generate enough interest to have whole corp hit teams after them. After the run it cools down, so what makes you any different?"Widow smiled thinly a predatory look on her face, "Nestles. Dom's brother TONY with a grudge and heavy Nestles connections, Not one but TWO runs with heavy Azzie smuggling connections. Krass. Lone Star, and the NAN on BOTH RUNS? Give me a fragging break JJ. We both know you can take heat on a single run but all these players have been active on BOTH runs and rather than cooling off the level of interest is growing. In two runs it has led up to a corporate level hit team, backed by an insect SHAMAN trying to take us out! We are getting close to something someone doesn't want us to see and they see us as a threat. WHY is the question I have to ask? We are a pretty low key ordinary group as individuals. No reason anyone should know about us unless we have been deliberately leaked as a Quaker Cannon or we really have been blindly, for us, aimed by Dom at something really big. Together with the skills we have we can, properly organized, be pretty tough. Someone else seems aware of that potential so why has Dom been rushing us from one run to another?"JJ looked at Widow a hard look on her face, "We have our reasons."Widow smiled brightly, "So you have and so do I! So you don't want me to see the big picture, fine. The group when it is ready can deal with that but it's going to cost you 'Le-al'."JJ looked stung at the elven term of intimacy and insult but said nothing insulting. She stated stonily to Widow, "Very well, I'll give you enough rope to hang yourself for now. You will have some time to prepare. I'll give you one week before I give you the next job. It will be strictly intelligence. You'll get your paychecks and SIN's when you leave. See the bartender. Accounts will be set up at First Tribal Bank and they can use their SIN's to access the money. The contingency fund will be set up there as a sub part of your SIN and Freddy;s account. It will contain 250,000 NuYen and will be refreshed after each run. If you need more you will have to contact me and I'll decide if it is worth it or not. Quick will be instructed to take your orders, for now. If that changes I will tell you before I do it. Smythe will be dealt with by Krass. Anything else?""Not at the moment. See you in a week. Nice doing business with you, Mrs. Johnson." Widow smiled as she walked out the door to see a bartender. OOC: Pelch, "This of course means that EVERYONE in the group has a LIFESTYLE change due to the job and paycheck. So smile. Just remember though it can go back DOWN as fast as it came up so you better be ready to earn it."

Henri decides that he can't work on building defense until he gets a complete blueprint of the place (for some reason Freddy had dodged his request for this) in order to look at likely routes of entry, as well as possible routes of escape. He decides instead, to work on something Widow said before they left the Siren. "We may be followed because the cell phone units are giving away our locations."
"It's amazin' how in the age of GPS & astral snooping, no-one ever thinks of a good ol' fashioned tail" he thinks.
Whilst BB is doing her thing, Henri fires up one of the tortoise terminals and begins to download streetmaps of Seattle's various districts. "You mentioned getting jacked up - it will result in you limiting your magical manipulation." "What the frag makes him think I'm gonna get a 'jack? I said I'd used 'trodes", he thinks to himself while the terminal starts up. Glancing over at BB, he concludes that maybe Freddy doesn't pay as much attention to detail as he should. "I never said I was gettin' jacked", he replies to Freddy. Speaking of which...Henri takes a quick wander over to the medical supplies and rummages through them. Dragging a bundle of wires and other equipment over to BB, he soon has her wired up to an ECG & EKG which both bleep away steadily. "Any major changes" he thinks "I should hear straight away".
So far, Henri was definately not happy with the security of this place. The entrance was guarded by some unknown heavy working for frag knows who. The place was bugged to the hilt, hush screens would do for now, but he'd be much happier if the bugs were found & trashed. Of course, all this meant that someone knew they were here and Henri meant to find out who and try to come up with ways to remove this threat to their security.
As he works, Freddy asks "What are you like on summoning up elementals Henri?" "Good enough to get by. I can have a few bound at any one time, but the stuff to summon them isn't cheap. I placed an order for some yesterday, but it's not due to arrive for another three, maybe four days."
After poring over the maps and making notes for a good while, he becomes more confident that if they are being tailed it can be dealt with. However he isn't about to discuss it with anyone until those hush screens are up. Grabbing a soykaf, Henri can't resist a peek into the astral, just in case, and decides there and then that as soon as he gets chance he's warding the place anyway. As he sits & drinks the hot liquid, he asks Freddy "So, who doesn't want me to see any of the buildin' except in here, and why? And why don't I get to see the blueprints?"
OOC: Is anyone working on a map of this place? Just thinkin it'd really help if Smythe gets the hump about Krass giving him his marching orders & sends in the heavy mob.

After a little while Quick shows up at the lair and dumps a few bags of food on the table the smell of soybugers and fries float through the air to anyone around who has gottin use to his demeanor Quick is obviously unhappy. grabbing a bag of his own he turns in generally face the occupants of the room " I will be in my room till the queen bitc.. Widow gets here."

OOC: Pelch, "A cheery good morning to everyone. Let's buckle down and get to it, nose to the grindstone and all that."
OOC: Gremlin, "Is anyone working on a map of this place? Just thinkin it'd really help if Smythe gets the hump about Krass giving him his marching orders & sends in the heavy mob."
OOC: Pelch, "Not really, for several reasons. First, but NOT foremost, is bandwidth considerations. The more pretty pictures, the more resources you need. I want to try to hold down costs somewhat. Second, and FOREMOST, is I want people to IMAGINE and use their minds to actually picture there surroundings! Consider it an exercise in visualization and mental acuity. When you play the character, I want YOU to actually see the LAIR around you. If there is a fuzzy or incomplete area of it in your mind I want you to FILL it in to add detail to our posts and for others to see the mental pictures we design for our background. Each character will see the Lair differently! This mental exercise improves your imagination and pushes you to improve your writing and descriptive skills. (This is excellent for real life, gaming, and for when you are GM's as well!) I want YOU ALL to contribute because your characters will affect decisions and goals in the game, you are not just participants. To me too many pictures just makes players LAZY."
Henri looked at Freddy, not to be put off by simple avoidance, "So, who doesn't want me to see any of the buildin' except in here, and why? And why don't I get to see the blueprints?"
Freddy looked uneasily at Henri. "The tenants who allow us to USE, not even rent, but USE, obviously don't want us to have building plans for their own reasons. They are willing to sponsor us, and insure most of our privacy, but they will monitor us for their own defense and they certainly are not going to reveal every secret they have to a bunch of largely unknowns. I would have thought you would have understood that by now."
Henri blinked, "You seem to KNOW and awful LOT about these 'SPONSORS', why do I get the sudden 'feeling' that you aren't telling us everything here?"
Freddy laughed at the sudden suspicion in derision, "You think I don't do my homework, Omae? I was hired and interviewed initially by the 'Sponsors' and sent to JJ who hired me. They work for JJ and Dom just like YOU DO, and Widow does and Pelch does and Quick does and Wheels does, and BB does! Get the picture, Mate? Now stop being paranoid and realize that we ALL have different backgrounds and knowledge. We are a TEAM and we have to trust our team members if we are going to survive. Why do you think Widow just went through all those gyrations about leadership and support? We all have blind spots. I've noted several that you seem to have. That's why we NEED this down time. We need to gel as a team and get familiar with each others strengths and weaknesses. We need to work out plans and train. We need to STOP acting as individuals and support each other." Freddy suddenly stopped talking and listened, He heard a voice cold, ruthless and chilling say, "I will be in my room till the queen bitc.. Widow gets here." Freddy, looked at Henri and Wheels, "Excuse me." and he abruptly turned and walked out of the room.

Pelch watched as another satisfied customer walked in. At least the drekhead had brought food. No one remembers the fragging guard on duty who might have to occasionally eat, drink or go the the fragging CAN. He smiled to himself in satisfaction as Quick stated angrily and coldly, "I will be in my room till the queen bitc.. Widow gets here."
Freddy walked out and glared at Quick. "Hold it right there MR. It's obvious that you got the word from your BOSS that Widow is running the show and that we do it her way, including you and Wheels! Now you had your chance to vote just like everyone else. You had your chance to step up and try for the spot yourself. You CHOSE not to. So why the attitude now? Sure you don't have to like it. Pelch don't like it but he at least made his vote and tried. When he lost, he lost gracefully."
Pelch cut in with a nasty smirk, "Yeah, I gracefully called her a Tonfa sucking COW. For me that's graceful and polite and true!"
Freddy glared at the smirking dwarf, the little slotter had bollocks the size of basketballs, at least, but this wasn't the time or place for it. "Then you need to listen too." He stated glaring, "Widow is the leader. She deserves RESPECT and COURTESY and MANNERS. You LOST the vote or didn't vote, get over it. Now we all AGREED, the leader gets the full backing of the group and they take the orders she gives out. To carry the BLINDING BLEEDING OBVIOUS farther that means you do what she says with respect! You don't have to like it but you STAY PROFESSIONAL and you put the attitudes away and save it for the street. You got a beef you tell either her or me and we try to work it out. Do you understand?"
Pelch spoke calmly, "Who died and made you boss of me?"
Freddy smiled coldly, "Widow did. She told me to take charge here until she arrives. That good enough for you or do you need to hear it personally from her?"
Pelch nodded calmly staring into Freddy's eyes, "No, that's good enough for me. There's no profit in you lying about something I could check so easily. If that's your orders then that's the orders. So, when do I get a break to go to the can? At least someone remembered to bring in some fragging lunch that's fixed. I can't leave my post."
Freddy nodded, "I'll give you a break to get some food and hit the water closet. If you need other breaks then YELL, we will hear you." He looked at Quick and Pelch, "Now listen, you two, Dom pays the bills, we know that. Dom let us select a leader. We did. He confirmed Widow as leader through JJ. Now do either of you want to argue with Dom about his choice? How about JJ? If your loyal then you respect the people they put in charge. That means Widow gets the SAME treatment that you would give Dom or JJ."
Pelch spoke up irrepressibly, "I've called Dom, 'DUM DUM' and JJ a 'slut' to their faces BEFORE they even hired me. They hired me anyway, Mr. Manners, so don't you think they would speak for themselves? If I hear you right you're now saying that 'I' can now call Widow a Tonfa sucking COW because I tell Dom when I think he is stupid! Will you make up your fragging mind here?"
Freddy glared and Quick almost smiled, Freddy spoke sternly, "NO! NO! NO! You rock headed little man! It means the opposite, you treat your Patron, Boss, Johnson, the guy who pays to keep your hoop fed, with RESPECT! You understand 'STREET RESPECT' don't you?"
Pelch nodded in agreement.
Freddy looked at Quick, "A professional hitter, understands that you don't go flashing attitudes against the people who pay you right? You know more than street smarts or Dom wouldn't have you on his staff. You aren't as stubborn or daft as our resident numbskull, are you?"
Quick nodded in agreement to Freddy's view as well.
"Then you both need to cut the shenanigans and get with the program. I don't want to hear anymore of this crap. I don't want you giving crap to your teammates for their votes behind the scenes too. You either accept what Dom says and do what your told and work for the leader and the group or you quit and walk. Clear?"
Quick nodded stone faced, "Clear."
Pelch grimaced, "Yeah, I'll try, but..."
"NO FRAGGING BLEEDING BUTS." Freddy yelled as Wheels and Henri attracted by the yelling listened at the door. Even Mao had come out to listen. "You FRAGGING DO IT, or I dock your pay each and every time you muck it up! So if you don't want to pay me for every fragging run you make, then just keep opening your pie hole with your stupid comments!"
Pelch smiled but nodded, "Is that all?"
Freddy nodded. Pelch went over grabbed some soyburgers and fries and a bottle of beer. Setting it by the guard post he went to the can, returned and took up his guard again. Inwardly he was smiling and thinking. {So they didn't want Pelch Hitler, huh? Well now they had BITCH HITLER and her Gestapo henchman.} He almost laughed but it never showed in his eyes or face. He looked at everyone standing and watching then spoke calmly, "Well you heard the orders, get your hoops back to work."

OOC: Pelch, "Well Done! We made some great headway. Now I won't be on again for a couple of days, so everyone has plenty of time to post. Krondax as Widow is going to be very surprised at where we are when he gets back. That is if he actually goes back and reads how we got here."
"If BT permits and I get operational again I'll be picking up with Widow's arrival in the Lair. It will also be time for a guard change where Mao will take over. Hopefully by then we will have made considerable headway on the plot line."
"Henri? There are only two KNOWN entrances to the lair. ONE is ONLY KNOWN by Widow and is very securely hidden. The other is the guarded access point we all use. You can do a ward if you want but it is not really necessary, still if you feel better with it in place it will be permitted if it is cast inside the Lair to only cover the LAIR itself."
"Good Luck."

Bobby sat and considered as he listened to both BB and Henri. Both thier ideas seemed to have merits, but they still didn't understand the bugging problem. Speaking of bugging problems, sounds like Pelch is being his usual insectisoid self out front...Little fragger....
Listen guys. There is no bugs per se. It is an aberation of building. Or perhaps a design of building, I am not sure which yet. The simple fact of the matter is, Ace Tomato, can hea r us upstairs thru the simple expedient of listening at the walls." Bobby stands on his stool and taps the air vent above his head before sitting down again. Turning one of the computer screens towards the others he types out a quick message.
**THEY CAN HEAR US THRU THE VENTS, AND I AM PRETTY SURE THAT THEY ARE LISTENING AT ALL TIMES THAT WE ARE IN THE LAIR, AS INDICATED BY OUR COMING AND GOING THRU THE USE OF THESE...**
Bobby holds up one of the security cards that hangs off his shirt pocket and the other two nod in understanding.
**WHEN WE COME, THE CARDS ANNOUNCE OUR PRESENCE UPSTAIRS AND THEY START LISTENING, RECORDING, WHATEVER. I DON'T WANT TO BLOCK THE VENTS OR INSTALL NOISE GENERATORS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, SINCE, THE MAINTENANCE PEOPLE WILL SIMPLY COME AND REMOVE THEM. OR PERHAPS ACE WILL FIND A MORE INSIDIOUS WAY OF BUGGING US. UNDERSTAND?**
Both nod again, and Bobby was about to continue when the shouting in the main lobby got to above a dull roar. It sounded like Freddy and Pelch were going at it full bore....Henri and Wheels moved out to the security door, noticing that Mao was looking out from his room as Freddy was cursing out both Pelch and Quicksilver.
"...AGGING DO IT, or I dock your pay each and every time you muck it up!
He almost laughed but it never showed in his eyes or face. He looked at everyone standing and watching then spoke calmly, "Well you heard the orders, get your hoops back to work."
Bobby glanced at Henri and shrugged, turning back to go back to the computer stations. "Little fragger is like a bad itch. Its always there, but sometimes it doesn't itch, but when it does itch, it drives you crazy..." Bobby murmurs to Henri, and they both smirk, Bobby throwing a look over his shoulder towards Pelch who sees Bobby and Henri going back into the security room heads together and smiling. Both dwarves think to themselves in that same instant...Fragger!!

OOC: Pelch, "Well seems as Krondax is back, I'll wait on Widow to post her own. Let's leave Wheels talking to a jacked in BB who can't hear him and Henri who can. Time for some filler."
Pelch turned on the holo while he ate, drank and watched the tunnel. He could at least hear the news and it would kill some time. Some unctuous, snotty sounding, overblown with his own self importance announcer was speaking from 'KONG'.
"Seattle is threatening to unleash a new missile on the NAN today. Mayor Krass in an exclusive interview with 'KONG' calls it the 'Dalongdong' and swears he can get this one up successfully. It's an apparent attempt to make up for the miserable failure of Krass's earlier launch of an ancient Taepodong missile as a test earlier last week. The name 'Dalongdong' comes from a mythical one-eyed giant snake in Korean folklore."
Pelch grumbled to himself, "That should piss the NAN off real well. Wonder how they're going to take it. I bet they're trying to get Schultz to do something." The announcement continued.
"NAN officials said recent intelligence coming out of Seattle makes mention of 'Dalongdong' but they have only been able to guess at its capabilities. "Whatever it is we know Krass is pretty damn proud of it because they're keeping it concealed under some sort of rubber protective coating that our spy satellites have been unable to pierce", said a unidentified NAN official. "It may just be a revised version of the Taepodong III which we know has a history of premature launch problems', the source said. Most missiles have a countdown of at least ten before launch but they say the Taepodong has a history of firing off early, usually by the count of four or five."
Pelch grinned, "That's Krass, always premature."
Mao walked out and shut off the holo. "You better pay attention to your job before Freddy comes back in and tells you off again." He went back into his room.
Pelch glared and thought to himself, {I'd like to see that self righteous hoop kisser stuffed into a 'Dalongdong' and shot into Seattle Bay with the sharks.} He continued to watch the tunnel.

OOC Actually I was trying to explain to BB and Henri about the bugging problem before BB started her Decking...but that is fine...
Bobby went back to working on the comms problem first. He'd been at it for a while but the Non-commercial part of the instructions were what was slowing him down. Use of commercial communications with a varying schedule of frequency changes would help minimize the overhearing part, but someone with a good enough scanner and a bit of luck could still catch on. That or, capturing one of the communicators would give up the whole gig. They could go with prepaid phones, and public dataterms for their contact sites with aset contact schedule, but with these guys, following a set schedule seemed, at best, difficult.
We could always use a couple cans on a string I suppose... Bobby chuckled to himself, causing Henri to look at him in askance."Nothin, chummer, just thought of somethin funny..." Henri went back to monitoring BB and doing his own tortoise research.
After several hours, Bobby stumbled across a forum discussing the merrits of directed laser communication devices. The were limited in range and required direct line of sight, line of sight being the limit on range, but they were practically untracible. Bobby grabbed the construction templates and started to build a prototype.
Electronics B/R 4, with engineering 4 as complimentary.
Electronics B/R 4:[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] Engineering 4 Complimentary: [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6]
After a couple more hours, Bobby couldn't quite get it to work. It wasn't really his field and he seemed to be missing a vital component or two. Besides, the device as he built it was so big, it would stand out as being very obvious. Drek, it'd look like some abortion of a piece of cyberware sticking off the side of your head...Back to the drawing board...
