Mao continued to hold the ear piece of his radio in his ear so that he could listen more closely to the responses rather than the boat chopping over the seas as they continue to chase down the chopper.
"I'm all with that buddy if you two mages can handle it. Its your call since I don't know how confident you are with your abilities."

Freddy prepares to go astral - straps himself into a harness and gives a wiggle kind of getting settled into position .. or is it the spells causing the twitches - too much reaction for his meat to hold down easily..
How about it Henri - two of us onto a weakened shaman? If it is just me - I will do a recon on the copter and be back in under a minute..
Freddy's body slumps as his astral self lifts out and up towards the copter - intending to double-up with Henri on the powerful but weakened shaman, or do a safer quick look alone at what is happening inside the big craft and report back.. either way, it's astral... and quick.

Henri thinks for a second "We might be able to take him, but his chromed chummer still has a gun to Pelch's head and we tip our hand. It may be a better idea to go for him when someone can put hands on Pelch and drag his sorry hoop out of there in the confusion. Widow?"

That would need the copter to be grounded... means us playing on their turf with their backup on the corp platform - what is the standard Star line for hostages Pops - negotiate... drop Pelch... then we send them a missile? They know that, so they need a way out, a scapegoat to blame it all on...
They know the Star isnt blaming Pelch for the attacks in Seattle - so there is a way out for them there... by blaming the shaman... if we make sure that they know he is the only one we are after..
otherwise we go to assault a corp sea-platform..
they may decide to drop both Pelch and the shaman ... and do everyone a favour..

Bobby had a good 45 minutes to think about stuff while he sped over to Sea-Tac airport. He hustled thru the security of the private aircraft sector and he thought he could detect the subtle hand of BB. The Lonestar representative met him and hustled Bobby out to his designated landing zone where his workhorse Hughes WK-2 Stallion sat warmed up and everything...
Thanking the agent, Wheels walked thru his preflight, meticulously checking everything. This gear was under a different name and located in a pretty high security area. It was unlikely that the bombers knew about it or could get access, but Bobby was taking no chances. He knew the clock was running but one thing a pilot never did was skimp out on his preflight. BB looked out of the co-pilots seat with a look of trepidation as Bobby continued to use precious minutes to look over his machine. She was busy doing whatever she was doing, coordinating, searching, communicating...
Bobby walked around the bird one last time, stopping at the nose to lovingly place his hand on the canopy. Looking at the machine one last time, Bobby returned to business and climbed in the cockpit, simultaneously strapping himself in, jacking in and checking that BB was strapped in correctly. As he began communicating with the tower on his Priority clearance, he quickly checked both the flight plan logged by BB and a Satellite uplink showing the progress of their quarry. Bobby knew that there was no way his machine could catch the machine flown by the men that had Pelch, unless they kept their own profile lower and not alert them til the warning signal signifying a lock-on was achieved. BB quickly brought him up to speed on the status of the rest of the team and Bobby discarded the idea of trying to sneak up on them. Even as he lifted off, Bobby noted that the enemy machine had increased it's own speed. To have a chance to catch them, Bobby's own machine would have to fly at maximum speed, and even that would not probably be enough.
"BB, I've been thinking...I was on a run a while back. A run that seems to have a lot to do with these jokers we are chasin. There was some things that happened but I didn't put them together until on my way over here...I was doing a routine pick-up for Dom when the Halloweeners happened to come by lookin for a fight. In force I might add. It didn't make sense at the time, but now looking back, things are starting to become clearer...
Bobby reached into his inside pocket and removed the two access cards that he'd been trying to find out information on and tossed them onto BB's deck. Bobby also retrieved the datachip with the information he'd found out about the card which wasn't much.
The card is a normal card with no real information on it, no names, addresses or anything.. just a logo of a palace and a dragon, after an hour of researching it you come up with nothing... giving the benifit of the doubt, you start to search underground sites and find information about a card with a picture of a dragon on it... you read the information that the writer had written and discovered that the card is in fact nothing of real value, but if you light the card on fire, its truth is revealed.. curious you do so and the paper disolves away to a transparent blue card and a black strip down the back (obviously its a scan card of some sort) the information on the site tells of an unknown mega corporation located somewhere in the pacific that is rumored to deal with DNA and advanced Bio-ware experiments.. no evidence has ever been found, and nothings been heard of about this corp for 30 years, its also rumored that Shiawese Corp was funded by a very private source that was believed to be this secret corporation but no evidence was ever presented to prove this. (the only reason it was suspected was because the note holder had written his pledge in Japanese and since Renraku would never fund another corp and the amount funded had to come from a mega-corp... sorta like the boat sank cause the lockness monster... no other real information though can be found, and the research your reading now is dated 28 years ago...
"See if you can find out more information about that...See, there was something else going on at the Docks that night. And the Halloweeners weren't there for me or for the stuff I was picking up. We ran into some other runners and took refuge on the boat the other runners were taking. On the boat, we were attacked by some of the gangers, and the captain and a couple of his crew were killed. Those were on the dead bodies. But there was someone else on the boat that night, besides the runners. An orc that disappeared. His name was Tony...
After that, when we got to Califree, we ran into another little fragger. Went by the name of Knute. And HE was a shapechanger too...Last I saw him, he was arrested in the airport in Japan. Little fragger could imitate anyone, and captured a couple of the other runners. Set them up or something. The airport might have some footage of the arrest as well as there might be some trail of what happened to that little fragger...See if you can find that too...I think Tony the ork, Knute the gnome and Tony, Dom's brother are all one and the same person...If we can track him from the Japanese airport, maybe we can track him to Seattle and get a better handle on what we are dealing with." Bobby concentrated on flying and trying to catch the enemy Helicopter, monitored the radio traffic and the triangle formed by his helicopter, the Lonestar chase boat, and the enemy copter. A lone blip on the NavSat screen showed the destination of the enemy craft. An offshore oilrig....

On you Henri - I have a small spirit in tow, that's three of us - noone else can get up there like we can - at worst we get to see whats happening and we cant affect anything, at best we mana ball the shaman, force him unconcious and they drop him and Pelch to save their lives..
Shall we.?
Depnds how much your department wants the rest of them Pops..
Freddy in astral form will follow Henri into the belly of the Dragon as soon as Henri is happy to go..
(reactions up, Will increased, F3 spirit on call - as ready as he ever will be)

Someone with knowledge of mediating deals get on the horn and let these guys know that they do have an option - if their shaman gets 'fried' by chasing mages, then they had to lighten the load and escape by tossing out the dwarf, and the body of the shaman as well.. gives them a way out..and us what we want...
Freddy makes the short trip from meat to dragon (copter) ready to stick his head in through the copter outer shell - astrally so he can percieve but not be seen...

OOC: Pelch, "I have currently escaped from Hospital for a period of very short duration. It was there that I learned that Krass thinks the movie, 'Deliverance', is a documentary. The access I am using is very slow and it takes over five minutes for a page to load. Soon I will be back in the realm of the undignified as they continue to stick gleaming needles into me until I resemble the 1960's version of 'Sputnik'.
Let's get on with it before they discover the dwarf has escaped.
IC: The pilot looked at the others. "I don't think they are going to buy it. It sounds to me like their stalling and they have had time to get enough support that they feel comfortable about a rescue. So now what? It's only a matter of time until they send some mages or munitions our way?" One of the guards laughed, "Start climbing. Get us above the cloud cover. Then they don't have line of sight. The clouds are full of living organisms. The mages won't be able to penetrate them. They will be wary of trying anything in the astral when it looks like they could be lost forever. Once we get above the clouds the ONLY way they have to track us is radar. Well I have news for them. Radar can be jammed. We get up high enough we toss, short and stubby out with enough radar decoys and chaff and we change direction. By the time they sort it all out we are long gone. Get the dwarf ready for his gravity test." He stated smiling.

One of the guards..! Freddy sticks his astral eyes through the upper bulkhead - the interior is large - plenty of seating available, there was word from the others of a stubborn resistance at the take-off warehouse so he wasnt too surprised by the platoon of mercs..
someone wearing a focus was all it would take for Freddy to drop a manaball from the ceiling...he scanned the occupants.. ah, the mage, now, what did he have on him..?
The piloting cabin was seperate two - could be four driving the big copter.. And Pelch, manacled to a holding bar, alive.

OOC: Pelch, "I hate fragging hospitals and doctors. You never get a straight answer. They just keep taking your fragging blood, waking you at all hours, stuff pills in your throat and the food and eye candy are terrible. What have I ever done to deserve such a hell on earth. You would think my name was Krass."
IC: Even as Freddy examined the situation the results were taken out of his hands as the chopper began to rise dramatically. He quickly realized he would have very little time before he would be completely lost at sea among the clouds. To save his life he was required to flee the scene, immediately. It turned out to be a good thing in a way. As he awoke in his meat body he heard Widow say, "The radar crew says there is an ancient fighter, an FA 18 Super Hornet Strike fighter to be precise, coming in at Mach 1+. It does not answer any challenges."
BB spoke from the chopper where Wheels and she were vectoring in, "The F/A-18 was deployed by the armed services of the following nations during the 1970-1980 time frame. The United States (Navy and Marines), Canada, Australia, Spain, Kuwait, Finland, Switzerland, and Malaysia. "
Mao made the connection immediately, "Switzerland? Nestle's?"
BB heard his comment/question and replied, "Possibly but it may not be germane, and Canada as well. The original FA 18 was created by McDonald/Douglas and made it's maiden flight in December 1979. Canada now the UCAS purchased several hundred in February 1987. The Swiss also purchased 34 Hornets, armament, spares and support, a contract worth an estimated $1.9 billion at the time. They were delivered to the Swiss Armed Forces Jan. 25, 1996. They have since been upgraded to the Super Hornet FA 18E/F is configured for both air to air and air to SURFACE missions and can do both simultaneously at the flick of a switch! It carries 'smart' weapons."
Widow growled, "The Germans have nothing to do with this."
Quick looked ill, "Oh Drek!"
Even Pops looked surprised and worried. "Coincidence?"
BB replied, "Doubtful. My matrix projections show that this INCREASED ranged aircraft could have either been carrier launched or launched from the UCAS itself. If it was friendly it would be in contact with us. Since it is NOT and will not reply to challenge it MUST be deemed as hostile. It's obvious target will be your small pursuit boat and let's face it, your boat is NOT equipped to handle a fighter of this type."
Henri nodded in agreement, "I guess Pelch is not the only one who is going to have to learn to swim." He looked at Freddy, "Know any good water spells?" He asked dryly.
Freddy smiled slightly back as he patted his pockets, "I must have left them in my Bill Blasted suit."
Wheels, suddenly was heard as a beeping sound came through his communicator, "Missile Launch!"
"We can't even see them!" Widow said sharply.
BB replied factually as she continued to punch serious deck, "The F/A-18 Super Hornet has a synthetic aperture ground mapping radar with a Doppler beam sharpening mode to generate ground maps. This ground mapping capability that permits crews to locate and attack targets in adverse weather and poor visibility or to precisely update the aircraft's location relative to targets during the approach, a capability that improves bombing accuracy. New production F/A-18s received the APG-73 radar upgrade radars starting in 1994, providing more precise and clear radar displays. The F/A-18A Super Hornet also has a pod-mounted Hughes AN/AAR-50 thermal imaging navigation set, a Loral AN/AAS-38 Nite Hawk FLIR targeting pod, and GEC Cat's Eyes pilot's night vision goggles. It also has a pallet-mounted electro-optical suite comprising a blister-mounted IR line-scan and two roll-stabilized sensor units, with all of these units recording onto video tape. They can see you from a long way away, That means they can shoot from OUTSIDE any of our current weapons ranges!"
"Oh Joy!" stated Quick, "At least we know how we are about to die in excruciating detail. Someone get me a drink. I sure picked a bad day to give up on booze."
Bobby commented, "Which means they have some 'serious' tracking gear on that bird. BB can you tell what kind of missile they fired?"
BB punched more deck, "From the signature and style of launch I would say it was an Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM). The type and style shows it to be a smart weapon, probably an Ares Mk IV Assassin."
"CRAP!" Wheels stated, "Air to Air? They have to be shooting at us! Well, the aircraft may be dated, they discontinued the FA-18's in 2010 but the armament is cutting edge." To Quick he stated, "If I survive this I want a fragging pay raise. There is no way I can avoid that type of missile especially with this type of equipment! You told me this was a 'candy' job, remember?"
Quick replied with a thin smile, "It's always a candy job when all you have to do is die."
BB shook her head, "The track of the missile is all wrong, Wheels. It isn't heading for us."
Widow exasperated growled back, "Then what the frag are they shooting at."
BB replied, "The track is the Dragon." Just then a light flashed crimson and then an explosion sounded ahead of the boat. Wreckage rained down out of the clouds and fell with an evil hiss into the ocean.
Everyone looked surprised. Now what?

mil-spec explosives, a small army of mercs, a getaway Dragon and then they get a doublecross to remove the evidence thats what..
Depends if we dare to go in and collect survivors - if they can swim.. He removes his jacket
awww If they wanted to wipe us they would have - this tub's got ecm? the shirt and boots next
or a wild weasle decoy just in case? trousers
spirit - move the dolphin that first breaks surface turns to hold onto the rail to keep balanced.. socks and shorts - Freddy is going swimming or believes that mooning at the F/A-18 will save their bacon.. eeyeew he really is that skinny
casts (bit tricky this one ... dolphin body4 - own body2/2 = Force 3 required)
[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6]
drain vs 3/1=1 +1(M) [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6]
He throws in an uninflated vest... theres a splash as he dives in not too well, a dolphin beak surfaces, catches the life preserver and takes off to the crash debris like hot snot - at least as fast as the launch was doing, on the lookout for the stuff that floats to the surface...
he's thinking that the launch may well be too late or too unmanouverable to find the floaters... a couple of leaps high to see the surface - and a few sonar chitters to detect sinkers astral wont be much use in water - but if theres time...

Freddy hunts around a bit in dolphin mode but all he discovers are bits of wreckage. He see's no sign of any bodies in the water. A short while later he spots Wheels in the chopper hovering overhead also searching the water. Then finally the ship arrives and als starts to sweep the area. He see's no signs of the aircraft that launched the missile. Finally after some time he returns to the ship and changes back and they start to head back to port. No one appears to have much to say. he wonders if the Z street facility will be closed down.
This officially ends the Preventive Medicine sequence.
