"I'll be fine." Bishop replied subvocally. "How about using that ultrasound scanner to find an open tunnel or pipe that we can use?"

Henri relaxes a little now that they are out of the crawl space. After pulling on his own respirator he draws his pistol and scans their new surroundings while Blackout works. "Just make sure you don't burn through any electrical cables or gas pipes."

Shade organises the four prisoners to be 'porters to carry the crates and drones.. where to Shade? You can easily organise that truck pickup from the chinatown backstreet access point..
The Thermite as you know is a very fierce reaction - but set up just right you can burn through the crete skin where it was thin - then break a bigger hole once you have something to work on. Without the initial burnthrough it would be so difficult to make that first impression - respirators on the thermite begins.. taking your time to set it all up just right you can burn through ..
once your eyes recover from the sun-glare it creates you let the puddles of crete re-solidify and peer into the darkness beyond...
Shade and the other team have turned up a few resources in the meantime - and should be making their way down a different access shaft. by the time the stuff resets and the fumes clear - you ought to be a complete band again..

Bishop squinted, shielding his eyes from the glare and the smoke with one hand as he breathed in the resulting smoke without so much as a cough. Pre-combat jitters bade him to check the slide and clip on his pistol but he refrained, positive that he had prepped it right the first time - if it isn't broke, don't play with it.
He waited patiently, saving his energies for the moment when they would be needed.

After setting the new water height Shade sets up the marching order. "Chuck your front, mules, your in the middle and me and Hunter will follow." My watcher returned and reported nothing aggressive. I'd keep a watcher ahead of us, one behind us and of course I still had the water spirit helping us and I kept my other spirit's on stand by. They'd hang around in the astral until I have them a order.
<c>"Secondary object complete, proceeding to primary... and cover your faces with something. We bare gifts but we got some "friends" helping us carry it." "Alright guys, let's go." The shaman thanked us once again and we get underway to the carfax building.
For the moment I wanted to get moving, I would deal more specifically with what to do with this stuff later. I'd leave it in the carfax basement for now and send these boys on their way. I was nice enough to give them back their pistols before sending hem on their way, providing they didn't see anyone face's. They probably knew their way around down here anyway.

Henri pulls his weight in making the hole large enough for a (meta) person to fit through. It is hard going and he feels the sweat causing the balaclava and respirator stick to his face. With the hole made, he steps aside gestures for Bishop and Blackout to step through before him. "Can't give you spell defense if I can't see you." In Henri's experience a mage was never number one on the door in an entry team for precisely that reason.
When Shade's message came over the comm, Henri thinks "Friends? What the frag?"
OOC: For now, all three of us are getting two dice each.http

Bishop's eyes peered back at Henri from behind his facemask. With a slight shrug he took point and pulled himself into the hole. Having shifted his vision mode to the normal spectrum to avoid his eyes being strained by the glare from the thermite, he now reactivated his implants as he climbed into the tunnel...

the water level begins to drain out - it will take a long time for the level to drop a couple of feet - but the automated sluice system will only allow a safe amount through - otherwise the sluice gates will be wrecked.. so a half day to lower the sewer levels in this area...
it does mean that the four prisoners aint going to get up to any monkey- business with them being up to their shoulders in the stuff that floats on the surface.. that is plas and the like as any bio-degradables get decomposed real quick in the slight acid rainwater runoff that makes up most of the stuff in the sewers..
after a few twists and turns you get them to heave the gear out of the sewer while they remain in the water.. reduces them being able to spot the collection van. Wrench is driving and will check out the drones for nav systems and disconnect any feeds too - nice little job for him..
you now have four prisoners who's skin is beginning to itch badly.. you can make it back to the main chamber easily then climb to the point the rat shaman had indicated in order to link up with the others. so what to do with the four prisoners?

tying up the tail ends of this will finish of this section 'belly of the beast' and gain everyone who has been down here 9 karma each..
The idea has been to see how you organise a nd deal with awkward situations - forward planning and the speed you take.
Overall I would suggest that you ar methodical - covering all aspects of the job in hand. You explore multiple options rather than just choosing one and haring in. Careful planning and allocation of resources.
Determined and methodical - once you are set up you put yourselves into a good position
the flipside is that because you are slow and steady you may lose out to someone who is daring and takes a chance by diving in (and who could come unstuck by not having the right gear )
Meg informs you that she will be joining you as she has some hefty magics available for detecting spirits magic and dual natured beasties. you will then be chasing down where the ghouls came from.
At this point any characters who have had to leave will drop out and return to the site.
Anyone who has a character wanting to go into the darkness is welcome!
Write yourself an introduction to Meg Four-Eyes or through another member of the group with the expectation of close-combat. A personal reccomendation from a trusted compatriot is an excellent form of recruitment!

((Ah ok, the truck thing threw me))
A thought struck me.
<c>"Change of plans, Wrench you out there?" "Sup Shade?" "Meet us back at the sewer entrance, It's Christmas morning, I got you and blackout a new air drone each." "Alright I'll be meet you there." </c>
We went back to the entrance where we had Wrench waiting for us. They loaded everything in the back without getting a look at Wrench of course I had pre-warned him. "Alright guys, I made a deal and I am sticking to it. Off you go." I simply let them walk away. They didn't see any faces and the any handles they heard were generic enough to keep from finding us. I bet there at least 50 other human/elf Shade's in all of Seattle.... I wasn't worried.
Wrenched scanned them for active feeds and tracers before taking off. We watched over him to make sure no one tried anything, including the four who were now quickly moving away from us. With that done I levitated everyone in the group to get us to carfax as fast as possible. Chuck was the hardest but I took my time with it.

Blackout followed behind Bishop, the scanner was packed away but the little pocket scanner was turned back on. He had his pistol out again, and patiently moved along behind Bishop.

You will have to configure the drones and deactivate any tracers - Wrench will have a good play and dissemble then reassemble the two flydrones.
Chuck gets a message from Wrench and drops out of the forthcoming hunt for ghouls - Micro too (I believe..?) So Shade and Hunter can make their way very quickly to the underground carpark beneath the Carfax building to join the rest of the crew. Removing the plas suits and destroying them - they look cleaner than they went in as the acids must have removed some of the outer layers - no wonder those four guys were complaining as you marched them through the sewer-waters! Nothing a few cans of nu-skin some tetanus jabs shouldnt fix..
You now have an insight into the underbelly of the city.. there are routs into most buildings at certain levels usually following some kind of access tubing. There has to be access because a lot of the piping was installed by 'mole' nearly forty years ago and the sub-standard plas and metals used in the pipes and conduits needs constant repair. There are gangs of maintainence engineers on the go continually covering leaks - replacing sections and repairing cables. the flamin cost-cutting corps who installed most of the cheap rubbish have all either gone bust or their contracts somehow lapsed - with the city taking on the responsibility for public ownership. Where the block is privately or corp- owned then they have responsibility for these repair works. Suffice it to say that an engineer's work duds and a hastily created permit has got many a runner past awkward questioning deep underground.
The idea was to mole out then crete line these tunnels then install all of the required power water sewage gas steam oil cable and opticals and whatever else could possibly be wanted. As different companies took control and eventually went bust or taken over - the responsibility has passed from one hand to another. All the time the sub-standard crete has rotted away and the piping has sprung and broken. Devil rats seem to enjoy the plas cladding of most wiring cables.
Breakages and new bore tunnels - cave-ins and repairs.. there is a whole economy down here - and on different levels too. There are six to eight levels for some underground parking lots - with rumours that both Aztechnology and Renraku are still digging deeper under their massive complexes. Neither allow public access with the military on standby outside of the recently closed Renraku Arcology.
The huge Arcology is south of Chinatown with your industrial site slightly to the east of it. Carfax is to the north side of Chinatown.
The fumes from the Thermite burn and the molten plascrete bite the throat - a short time later they have been dispersed - sucked away by one of the many air vents - but the stuff leaves a stink in the air. A variety of scanners and imagers are applied to peer through the large hole you have created. Micro and Chuck can remain as anchor-men in the Carfax basement to cover your arses while you go on to search.
The object is to attemp to find any evidence of the vampyre - the Star have done a Search and Destroy but wont have gone far because they did not know about the creature. They lost some of their guys to crazed ghouls so stamped on them hard and to the book.
We should have a couple of days before this place gets investigated by someone - gangers reporters or the Star coming back to check. Hopefully we find evidence that will link to somewhere or someone else who we can then trace down and question.
Feral ghouls are supposed to be fast tough and well - feral so they cannot be reasoned with. Terminate with extreme predjudice. They are known to hide - attempting to avoid contact until the last moment - watch your backs and above as they could well be on us real fast. the ultrasound should pick them up better than any line of sight opticals -
I have magical detection up which should give me an idea if they are within about fifty metre - but It hasnt been tried and tested yet so rely on the tec while I get used to the wyrd.
We may not find anything apart from just plain nasty creatures down here - but I want to make sure. There was very little up in the Carfax apartments leading me to believe there is more down here.
UV is known to be effective so we have the wide beamers - let's see what weve got..
Organise yourselves people.. you can see the tunnel on the other side is at least two if not three metres wide as the walls have been scraped back to bare rock...makes sense as ghouls are blind but known to be magically aware.. The floor is covered in rubble making the going a little difficult...
The evidence of the Star Cleanse and Burn is here with the walls blackened by their flamers ang gouges burnt out by lasar cuts. Looks like there was one hell of a firefight - or they blasted every inch just in case.
You walk quietly for around fifteen twenty metres in and encounter a side-pipe at head hight stretching to both sides - burnt and blasted. the las cuts avoid the piping so the Star are being kinda careful. five metres on you hit a T where you join another clawed tunnel. the blackening on the walls stops - looks like this is the limit to where the Star got.
There is the faint smell of the thermite still in the air - your fingers grip a sidearm and either a beamer or a scanner checking the readouts and peering into the tunnel ahead lit with the curious blue-purple tinted light from the UV emitters.

Shade butts in right after Meg's briefing. "-also note that ghouls have enhanced hearing and a heightened sense of smell. If you got silencers on your weapons I suggest you take them off. It's deafening for you and painful for them. Loud noises and large groups are the best deterrent for attacks and dear GOD don't corner them." Shade pulls out a small box. "When we were grabbing gear I got some hearing dampers as well." He hands them out to anyone who takes them. ((Seems like something a para-hunter would do, as far as i know though they only come in hearing amps.))
Shade keeps two watcher's ahead of the team and two behind and he fly's so the rubble doesn't slow him down as much allowing him to act as a scout. He keeps his light in his left hand and his sword in his right. However he chooses to keep it off and watches the astral.
((in sewers i would think the astral would be lit up like new york city, given there is bacteria everywhere.))
