Meg calls you in for a meet while the students are still deeply engaged in their current guided experiments – they are hovering around the kilns making temperature adjustments recording and logging times then frantically busying themselves in matrix research..
The terminals are isolated which had been a concern – the students use these to connect through secure lines to the college network and to make external searches as well – there are always rogue programmes being isolated and destroyed by the college checkers..
There is around a week or so to go before there is a result from the kilns. Anyone making an assault in this time will destroy the complete process, so if they are in the know then they cannot interrupt – and if they are just opportunists the standard security we have ought to take them out.
As a result there is a short while before you guys need to go onto full alert – for a period of a week then there will be another hiatus – another lull in your activities while they get stuck into their next stage.
You encountered a vampire in the rescue of Kristina. I would dearly like to know more but the Star became quickly involved. I notice that a number of officers have been rapidly promoted because a number of unsolved disappearances were sorted out recently.
They called in their armour and then sealed the place up with crete after what we have to presume was a search and destroy. There are no accessible records on this - however there must have been more down there otherwise why send down a strike team. S&D hits are not subtle so they may well have missed hints and pointers to where this vamp came from.
There are people working on the samples you retrieved which indicate the presence of retro virus. If there are more of them then I want to make sure that they are not going to pose a threat in the future.
We have encountered these things before and they have a habit of avoiding their demise - maybe something to do with having a close association with death.
The Star have now finished taking out crates of evidence from the upper floors – so that will have all been scoured. There must be other entrances to the sealed off area – the underground carpark I am led to believe – I would like you to see what you can find and once we know what we are up against we can decide what to do next.
Schematics of this and nearby buildings will be good – has anyone got connections in city hall which may pull out recent modifications?
You will need vision modifiers and breathers too if you are travelling underground – and a thought on getting through obstructions - as explosives may bring unwarranted attention unless you can come up with a way of explaining them to the authorities – but these are details you will need to work on over the next few days.
This is a different move from your original contract for bodyguarding - which we need to address.
Meg waits for the discussion on what may be needed and who intends to do what over the next couple of days..

"So you want us to find a way in operating on the hope that the Star might have left some evidence behind?" Bishop asked, not entirely sure what the objectives were "So that we can track down more vampires? Do we have intel that suggests a vampire group is targeting the students?"
There was an implicit 'then why the hell are we making them our problem?' in the tone of Bishops questions - his expression gave away his sentiment that the group was losing focus on their priority; the students.

"Way back in the day we used to use catalyst sticks that would turn plascrete into something resembling chewing gum. You had to push though it and the sticks weren't cheap and I wouldn't even know where to get them anymore if they even still make them. They don't make any sound but it release small amounts toxic gas's as a byproduct Using it in a sewer is like a drop in the ocean."
((I don't recall seeing this item any books but in the first run book the runners get this type of stick and no stats are given for it iirc)
"They were called gum sticks." Barring that I guess the Seattle Saint could give his favorite commissioner another visit. After all it wasn't often he made a request but I'd prefer not to go this method. Each time I exposed myself in this manner was one more chance someone would find me out.

(OOC When it comes to the stuff you are talking about Shade it is located in Man & Machines. They have Plastisteel-7 Catalyst at 500 nuyen SI1 not too expensive, there is also acids at 500x rating Nuyen SI2 and last thermite 500Y per KG and 1000Y per burn bar. This is all on page 111-114 of man and machine.)
Good we get to ice a few more vamps I love the sound of this and since it is Meg asking us to do it that means we are going to get payed to do it. Micro thinks to himself as Meg talks.
Micro hears Bishop ask if there is a vamp threat to the students. I know that the students are the main mission we are on but Meg is the one paying our bills, and as we have seen with Kristina there are side missions that we have to take on this seems to me more like a side mission then a mission affecting the students directly. Micro waits for a second takes a drink from his coffee then adds. If any of you guys can get your hands on floor plans of this building I'd love to see them before we try to get into the underground of this place so we do have an idea of what we are walking into. Saddly I have no avenues I can think of to get our hands on to them. If this fails I say before we head down there we do the old astral search the area a day or two before we go so we Know what we are heading into. Shade you seem to be good at remembering stuff I think if you came on the astral survey of the building you could draw a better map for the rest of the team then me.
(OOC I'm figuring Micro has been around Shade for long enough to have seen him use his photographic memory that Micro can tell he has a good memory so I added it into his plan.)

I have an interest in this vampire - I would like to know as much as possible about it and its MO. The reason - the creatures are traditionally awakened - indicating that they target mages such as Kristina.
It would be useful to gather in the names of those who's remains has been discovered presumed killed. If any were mages then it could well be that they are still around as vampyre... ready to consume more mages. We have a dozen students here along with a high professional mage-count. That makes us a very juicy target. The more we know about them the better protected we shall be. Which reminds me we need to consider what their capabilities are and if they could break into this site easily. Plus I have a vested interest in removing them.
Once we know what works well, then we shall be better equipped to deal with them. The permanent lighting outside is Sunbeam UV striplighting which I am led to understand is a deterrant to many but could be destroyed by explosives. I have concerns about security involving any with specialist abilities.
Over the coming months I would be requesting you to follow up leads which are uncovered that involve these creatures and wherever possible to eradicate with extreme predjudice. This will require you to protect yourselves physically and also from being identified.
I dont do wetwork - but I do not regard these things as anything more than parasites which need removing along with the people who harbour these vermin.
I would not expect us to become a search and destroy unit but some of the work we will be doing will involve this.
I have commissioned further research - we should have more information on the enemy soon - in the meantime - anything that you can gather please do so but try to keep it covert in case you are monitored and traced.
We shall work out any danger bonus involved in this as well

"I have some blueprints of the building but they only cover the outside. As for hunting these things down, that's something I can get behind." Shade pulls out his pocsec and uploads something to chip and toss's it in front of Meg.
((Micro I'm juggling four game systems in my head these days. I can't remember everything bit it's good to know your on the ball.))

(OOC I'm fine with searching down info when ever it is requested, no big deal to me glad to help out when I can.)
When it comes to the UV lights since they keep the parasites at bay I suggest if you haven't already place an electronic sensor in them so if they ever go out like a sniper bullet through it it sends an alarm to the control room. Who ever is in the control room should be able to dispatch a team to check it out. This way we will be able to have a warning that something that doesn't like the UV is heading our way. Micro downs the last of his coffee then heads over to the coffee pot to get a refill.
Thanks Shade for the exterior blue prints this should help to see if there are any windows or any other places that would give the nasties waiting for us a heads up on our arrival. I say we survey the area with astral as mentioned before, look at the building lay out get a peek at what is there for parasites if any remain. Then go in as a team with Imp. Invisiblity spells in place. Dam I would love to have that tech that can make a full body suit totally invisible, that way if they see throught the spell there is also a suit on us but that is something to get the team when we get the coinage for it. Micro realizes he is now just thinking out loud and shuts his mouth and sits back down.
(OOC ideas for how to spend our Group Funds that just got upped 5,000 Y when I sold the 3 focuses. "Ruthenium Polymers" page 114 Man And Machines. this is that stuff that I just mentioned it steaths your units, combine this with thermal dampening and you have Ghost in the Shell "thermal optic camo." Cost ALOT 10,000 / m2 and imaging scanners are 5000 each. Big money.
We can also get Freeze Foam (this stuff is glues something in place, think of a guy with his legs "freeze foamed" to the ground. this stuff is cheap 20/ liter and 5/ liter for the Solvent (the stuff that unsticks you.) just some thoughts.)

Shade adds "As long as we're wishing on star's, I'd rather have form fitting armor with gel packs." He smiled. "On a serious note, when we go looking though this building we should take all the watchers we can with us. That place is big, real big. We should in the area's we already know and split up from there. "
He rubbed his chin. "I'd float down the hallways and have my watchers check the rooms around me. Anything living bigger then a devil rat or something magical is worth checking out."
((CC iirc))

There are stealth suits I believe - and the military have heavy recon combat armour - I dont know too much about anything beyond standard stuff - this would be worth looking into so you have some better protection. Mil-spec suits would be very difficult to get even if we have corporate status - it could be used onsite but prohibited outside. You might find it restrictive or a dampener to some of your more specialist skills
You all have access to formfit-suits an Shade mentioned gelpaks - If you think they would be useful then let's ge hold of some.
I have tried to cover medical as far as possible but working under would pose a real problem to Docwagon - you have medic kits - who is profficient with them?
It would be useful to scour the upper building just to get a better idea of what they were up to - but the Star have been crawling all over it so I cannot imagine there will be much left. the place is still cordoned off - probably with internal cams to warn them of snoopers on the crime scene. The important thing is to find out why they deployed the S&D team so quickly. They must have found something else. Coupled with the crete seal they pumped in would indicate something deeper.. That is where anything important ought to be - if anything still remains.
I would have thought that a vampire would want a way out - the under-tunnelling would be ideal. Sewerage, pipes drainage inspection even evac tunnells exist down there. The Star cannot just fill the whole place with crete - just plug up any dubious looking access..
Your schematics note there are four sub-levels car-ports for the most along with maintenance sections and the ducting that goes with it. One of you should link up some of this tunnelling and see if we can acces the place from somewhere else nearby. there should be a few entry points still left unblocked.
That covers protection and access - how about offence? What did you find most useful?

"I'll summon some watchers and check the place out astrally when the meeting is over as for gel packs they are illegal and you can't wear any other armor with them, nor can they be added to form fitting armor. I did however pick up a medkit but I only know the absolute basics."

"I'll go along on the astral snoop of the place I'll get my self some watchers to help out but I'm leaving Silverwing behind she doesn't like places underground. I guess I can have her keep an eye out above ground to make sure we don't have anyone crashing the party." Micro downs the last of his 2nd coffee and waits to see what else everyone what to do. As for offense I want to lock as many spells in place before we hit the place also have a few clips for my Areas Predator. Other then that every mage get as many elementals in place as you can, non mages bring your biggest guns with lots of ammo. It would be better if we could get silencers and sound suppressors for them. When we do find out what materials these nasties don't like I think we should start getting rounds for our guns made just for them, just like Four Eyes was doing. With the conversation almost coming to an end Micro lights up a smoke trying to get one in before he hits astral space for the info grab.

I looked to Henri "Even if you decide to stay behind we could use a few more watchers. It's a big place and if we do find something odd, the eyes checking it out the better."

silencers are good - keeping everthing quiet even if it is below ground it will echo and alert anyone lurking close by..
The Gel thing may be restrictive - I knew a guy who kept a riot shield in his trunk - and Freddy uses a ballistic sheet in his briefcase.
Lighting - we have heavy light beams we used out in the field which will illuminate a lot - switching to astral by the mages could pick up unusual things - but you do that anyway.
breaking through crete walls if you need to - those thermal lance thingies sound good - can you get a contact and I can buy that sort of thing legit - for our kilns...
Wrench has drones - but he is drawn out of town - they would be good for scouting ahead a little. Do you have anything that can drop a drone just in case you meet up with similar? be wary of any explosives as the blast will be channelled along a restricted space.
If noone has connections to City Hall for updated sub-level plans then you will need to do a ground search for access hatches or vents and ducts.. Chuck found a couple in Chinatown - there ought to be similar around the Carfax block.
Astrally scouring the upper building could be tough as it is all crete and therefore dark to astral eyes. Nothing like getting in there and having a good look. As you have already been inside you are already ahead of the game. Wrench's surveillance drone spotted that there is a new maglok on the door and the windows are now boarded up - plas sheets and bond-glu
You will need to find ground access from close by - that shouldnt be difficult finding the road hatches but access from other buildings may mean you have to find a way into their underfloor areas.. bribery and subterfuge...
see what you can do - recon entrance points first before you go down for a good look...
in the meantime if you get me the details I should be able to get some of the less legal gear you might need..

The fingers worked efficiently in the accepted darkness - they checked each item and rapidly and efficiently re-assembled the new ColtM22A2 parts - still smelling of production-line grease. The extended ammo-mags were taped together to improve reload - not that there would be a need for a standup firefight, just a couple of well placed shots would do the trick - the rest of the rounds would be to clear the streets for the getaway.
It had taken time and a lot of yen to track down - there were no more favours left to call on - hate concentrated the mind into a clear but cold viewpoint.
Yeah - revenge was best served cold.

"I know a decker that can dig out the info we need. I'll take care of that before we go scouting." In truth I started right then. I pulled out my pocsec and shot SC a instant message with blue prints and my request attached. Along with 300 from my shadow account.
<msg>Standard fee, 3 days worth prepaid.
A few minutes later Shade's pocsec chimes. He looks at it for a moment and puts it away.
<msg>I've got my three best search agents on it. Will send info as collected. City archives take awhile, even for agents.
