Most be horrible to be you, mate, living in the doom and gloom. THINK about what you just said. Most likely those bastiages will get to the moon and stupidly open the doors and kill everyone. We are better off without them. The SMART people will take and using garbage, because that's what oil and gas are, super compressed garbage, and will make their own fuels, or they will go to safe nuclear power, or they will go to hydrogen lithium cells. There are so many GOOD, WORKABLE possibilities out there it's ridiculous. When gas cost more than those possibilities, then they will be used and as they are developed will get cheaper. STOP WHINING, the Fatman says if you are smart enough and tough enough you will survive. WHINERS will get what they deserve. I'm a winner so don't add no fragging "AITCH" to be it rhymes to much with what Eon is.
By the way did you ever wonder, why mothers will spank you for sucking your thumb when your a kid but will suck..... It boggles the mind.

5.00$ a gallon ! You lucky lucky b*****d (Python)
here in the UK petrol prices (gas is stuff our cookers use..) have recently hiked from £0.80 to £0.90 per litre 1.5$ to a £UK (ish) = about 1.30$ per litre ... about 3.5 litres to a gallon = our standard price is around 5.00$ a gallon and has been for years.. hence big red busses for public transport , and little cars on small roads

A miracle happened...gas went under a dollar a liter! Then on payday it was 1,06.9/liter.

Well, it was rather an odd thing for us. Before Katrina hit, Oregon had the fifth highest gas prices in the nation (behind Hawaii, California, Washington and one other state). This is in part because of a strange law we have that outlaws self service gas stations (the attendants HAVE to pump your gas for you). It's one of only two states that does (New Jersey is the other) After Katrina, gas prices went up, but they didn't hit the three dollar mark. Why? Because we are served by a single refinery in the Puget Sound, so it wasn't harmed.
Thursday morning, I bought regular gas at 2.45. Thursday afternoon, the price at the same station had dropped to 2.43. Doh!
Unfortunately, before Katrina, the gas was at 2.07. I also remember (fondly) when gas was under a dollar. Of course, I also remember being with my dad and having to wait in line for gas because of gas rationing in the 70's during the oil embargo.
Personally, even if I have to pay higher registration fees, I am seriously considering making my next car a hybrid. I would have bought one the last time out, but my wiper motor failed at a critical moment, so I traded it in on something else rather than have car payments AND repair bills.....

Unfortunately, before Katrina, the gas was at 2.07. I also remember (fondly) when gas was under a dollar. A gallon of gas under a dollar! Wow now that's cheap gas. Back in the 80s gas was around 50 cents a liter, people went nuts when gas was 55 cents a liter, now where happy when it's around 1.14 a liter. Those gas companies are holding us by the balls and we can't do nothing.

Those gas companies are holding us by the balls and we can't do nothing. Actually, there are a couple things we can do, but not much. 1) Buy smaller, more fuel efficient cars (and this trend is happening) 2) Buy hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles (as demand increases, more car makers will make them) 3) Drive slower (the 55 mph limit was created for fuel efficiency, not safety) 4) Drive less (take public transportation, walk, bike, carpool or combine your trips) 5) Keep your car maintained. Dirty air filters, low tire pressure and dirty oil all detract from fuel efficiency.

Those are all good thing, but the gas won't go lower because if it, we'll simply buy less gas. Speaking of hybrid cars, you saw that Smart car made by Mercedes? People here are buying it like crazy, but it's ugly. I saw tricycle with bigger wheels than that.

with hybrids u only get that gas milage if u keep your average speed in town to 20mph, dont break as much, keep the a/c OFF at all times and keep your speed on the highway to 55mph or less thats what the company that certifys a cars gas milage. with that said i want u to name ONE person that seriously drives like that not me thats who. my in town speed average is probly around 50 or more mph and at least 70mph plus on the highway if u want real gas milage get a motorcycle cause they get 55mpg in the city and 75 on the highway

Well, if we got a motorcycle, it would make carpooling very...intimate. But we're married, so that's okay.
But I'm happy to say that gas is now down to $2.35 at my local station.
