op and Blackout have found six bodies floating inside state of the art medi-support tanks all maintained by the machineries - on closer inspection the bodies display the traits of ghoulification - allare white-eye blind - teeth have atrophied - fused fingers - a rotting to the flesh - all in the first throes of becoming a ghoul. all attached to cabling and coils..
on the main floor the ice begins to melt disturbed by the occasional twitching of the dead ghouls
two crates containing the machines have a US ARMY burnt into the wooden boards - you know that the US Army has not existed for .. a long time.
the briefcase emblazoned with the 1940s symbol and various recording monitoring and storage devices are arranged around the six plas tanks. A strange mix of some of the oldest and newest machineries you have seen..
anyone got any history or bio or even magic theories... there is a magical taint to this setup - not a magical device but something which has conducted magic leaving a dark taint to it. You will recognise two of the occupants from the mugshots associated with the missing persons from a good while ago - those supposedly murdered by the original vampire..

"What the frag is this drek?" Blackout muttered. He stayed off the subvocals to avoid distracting the others from the fighting and just talked to Bishop. "Looks like they're making ghouls." It wasn't his role to decide what to do about it, but Blackout looked all the systems over with his expert eye in an attempt to gauge how they would be best turned off without causing a hazard. All electrical devices need a power supply, after all, and interrupting that is the easiest way. He kept his pistol handy as he did, the area was far from secure even if it did seem like the creature the others were fighting was defeated. With that in mind, he looked back up at Bishop. "Have we missed any hostiles?"
Electronics 6 to try to get some understanding of the electronics side (obviously blackout wont know much about the magical/medical side) [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][rand=171130618315123669201997479918094933367969671453707143231262060423]

you recognise that standard medi conduits power up the tanks - new top of the line hospital equipment alongside a roll of stainless steel hand tools -
there are power cables running into archaic.. judging by the weight - copper transformers .. copper cable too rather than modern silver alloy industry standard tinywire
there are two machines which carry glass vaccum valves.. the sort carried in Soviet Mig aircraft last century designed so they could survive an electromagnetic pulse from outlawed nukes. Half a dozen books - real paper pages - all on electronics..
Reding the titles is easy but the pages are beyond most of you as talkie minicomps are used nearly exclusively now and reading is an old-time outmoded skill. four different comps are connected to two different powergrids
old and very new side by side.
It takes a half minute to treble check the place - the comms gear - the monitors - the dead and sticky remains. All seems silent
A frosty unit contains blood paks, next to a kibble squeezer and a toilet resyk remains of spud-u-like meals and a couple of buckets of chikos and there is still one unopened 2litre fruit-a-hol
this is a typical field workshop - tools and rudimentary facilities - work hard for a few days on the trot then bring in supplies or a change of personnell.
any other useful skills or Kn to bring to bear?

Between the mages you will note the old equipment has a definate dark taint which you feel will create difficulty in casting into or at it - a background count. Something which is gathered over time from extreme conditions or emotions.
In the tunnel where the vampire went down to Fade's blows are a pair of cyber implants - wolvers
otherwise everything else is mundane..
The bodies in the tanks are alive - just. Floating in a bio soup being monitored and you would guess maintained by the medi-machinery.

Bishop nodded his head at Blackout's question.
"The tunnels could still be loaded with hostiles, we need to secure this area if the brains are going to examine the scene."
He pointed over to the door, the main (only?) entrance to the room.
"Can we close that and post a sentry? I'll start capturing image data for examination later - that way we won't have to stay any longer than absolutely necessary."
That said, Bishop unzipped the front of his camo-suit and produced his pockset from a pocket underneath. He started capturing forensic footage and photographs of anything and everything in situ before the team disturbed anything.

(I didn't notice you guys had the cage open. Does this mean combat is over? I thought there was a third vampire.))

Shade stands up and swings his blade off to the side a few times to get most of the gore off. He looks over at Fade with a big grin. "2 hits, if you count the lightning." He chucked a little "-excellent job on that light, most people woulda given it up and started shooting."

Did you look at my pistol? It wasn't going to do anything against these thing's! I need to get something a bit better then this little Walter PB 120. Frag I could have thrown rocks at them and did more damage. Fade drops the light down off his shoulder and starts in to the main room to look around.

(OOC I'm posting thinking the thing is not dead yet not to sure if it is or not.)
Mist pulls out his little flash light and starts to point it at the strange vamp.
With Mist last pass he lets go with his last stun bolt. I really need a lethal spell that doesn't do area effect or blind everyone.
(Out of spell pool oh no. So doing a powered down version) Stun bolt F 5S Drain 2s Stun TN: Will

Shade pulls out a ziplock and wipes his blade down with a white rag and stuffs the rag in the bag and that bag into a bio container bag. Then pulls out a sterilizing wipes and cleans the rest of the gore off. He listened to Fade and nods. "That's exactly what I am telling you Fade. Most woulda just kept shooting."
Shade made his way into the main room like everyone else and started checking out the computers. He hoped he could salvage something. After that he would poke around the astral space for interesting stuff.

Blackout left sentry duty to someone else while he kept looking over all of the equipment. "And what do you want to do about them?" He said, thumbing towards the half-ghouled bodies in the tanks.

The whole thing was over in about twenty seconds - your ears are still zinging from the pistol rifle and grenade shocks...
As you slowly come down from full alert - having surveyed the bodies and checked that there does not seem to be any obvious boobytraps around.. To the rear of the central pillar/block is a set of inspection rungs with an armoured inspection hatch which is bar locked underneath - to the rear of the cellar is a second caged door same as the one you came in through - again locked but this one is maglocked.
we collect what intel there is - take a few samples then torch this place - unless you think we can organise a holding team and get some specialists in real fast.
Mist - you seem to know their comms and comp systems - see if this is all isolated.. any fone links to outside maybe..
Blackout - youve got the explosives knowhow - check the equipment they have set up for any nasty suprises
Shade an Fade make a survey of this equipment in the astral - again looking for nasty suprises -theres a negative aura about it.
I have a little knowhow in biotec so will check out these six tanks
Bishop an Hunter - fancy working with Mist to see where those doors go..
the ghouls will stink soon - What I would like to know is do they have any freinds who may come a-calling...
other input folks - apart from a job well done - you should all be proud - we should all learn a lot from this.

Shade was 1 second away from plugging into one of the computers. He groans and starts checking out the astral in the lab, He also sends two of his watchers past the maglocked door to explore some of what was on the other side.
"There's only one thing to do with those poor bastards. Their ghouls."
Shade stops by Bishop for a moment before counting on his way and gives him a what now, bitch look.
((sadly yes, things are on final wind down))
