Hi. I started running Shadowrun back at 1st Edition. I didn't do too well as I was a D&D DM but I really liked the concept of the game. I tried again with Shadowrun 2nd Edition but the same problem. At the time, I was a "go fight" DM and didn't have much in the way of character interaction with NPCs.
I stopped tabletop gaming in 1997 or so. Mainly because I wasn't able to find other players in my area. I signed up to the Shadowrun mailing list around then but eventually unsubscribed as I was busy with other things.
In 2006 I started going through my boxes and found my old Shadowrun gear. Interested again, I started checking out the on-line forums. I'd gotten used to forums due to my interest in motorcycles. I found rpg.net, dumpshock, and this site.
I'm not a PbP player though so I really didn't drop in here often.
I picked up the rest of the Shadowrun books from e-bay and titan games mainly with a few books from other internet stores and several from my FLGS. I'd intended on running a 3rd Edition game but felt there was way too much out there for me to assimilate. 4th Edition was new and I figured I could get the core rules down and Street Magic and be able to surf the wave.
I started playing a 3rd Edition game last August and then started running a 4th Edition game last September. I stopped playing in March and went straight to running SR4 at my FLGS.
I'm submitting my paperwork to be a Shadowrun Commando and am running a Shadowrun game at the upcoming Tacticon 2008 con here in Denver.
So I'll probably lurk here more than anything looking for ideas and maybe chatting once in a while.
See you on line.
Carl
