Wow, I need to get into this deeper than I intended. My big mouth too Mr. Johnson. Let's spell out for everyone's comment where we think we stand. It might get a little long and boring but sometimes it is necessary.
Quote:Why would Mr. Johnson assume and or accept the first offer to come down the board and why would he think that the information he has is fully accurate and complete?
ok wait... last time I knew we were discussing a campaign idea... not negotiating a contract... did I miss something here?
Not at all, as usual you are right on the mark. It is an idea. It's your choice to consider just how far you want to take it. I go on the assumption that you are considering it and thus try to help you to refine the idea and work through some of the background and difficulty before we start. I was also joking tongue in cheek with you a bit. I was just talking in context so that if you were considering taking it to that level, to show you that I am willing to help you with it without stepping on your toes. I will be an adviser but the judgments, rules, and game will be yours along with the results. The credit if the game is a success is ALL yours. I am not going to toss you out there to the lions with No Support.
Quote:Considering the amounts of sexual innuendo the Retro's (Short for Retrosexuals) create I am not so sure I QUALIFY to sign up
as long as your sexual innuendo doesn't involve nude pics of any nature (especially of you).. then your as qualified as anyone else that is registered here.. and I know the register form is a pain in the ass which is why im workin on getting my own webspace... its just right now moneys so tight that I cant even see strait most of the time...
There's goes my part time job as a future Chippendale.
Money is tight for everyone. Given the situation let's not rush you into a new gig yet. You're doing more than enough and I envy that you have the energy to do as much as you are. Just wanted to be sure to let you know in advance, a little jokingly, that my games get pretty free wheeling, but I don't want to add to your burden by bringing more trouble and work to your doorstep. Initially you wanted to get the word out and attract SR talent. I devoted part of my time to helping you do that. You are though at a point where I may have to take it to the next level. Maybe it's time for me to close the Retro's door as well and move on. At least it would cut my costs.
I have been taking your comments of opening a room here and running a game very seriously. You see while I gave you a no earlier, I still promised to continue to consider your request as time goes on. I want to avoid at all cost stepping on anyone who is already doing so here.
By the way, did you know I was again recently approached by some people in Bravo Fleet to come back and try to add some dynamics to the plot lines? They are again trying to recruit me through a back door but I suspect that is a door in my life that I closed and will remain closed since my first loyalty is to the Retro's and then to you folks for as long as you want it. Right now my limited free time is devoted mostly to the Retro's and your site because I am enjoying not only the players but all the people here. We all have our hobbies and projects.
Krass of course likes the Quotefile site and it is his private playground helping Jon build his finances as well. Like all of us, Jon is struggling financially as well. Concerned Players who want to help out those who are struggling maintaining pages with ad's might consider visiting them regularly for the click counts.
Quote:I certainly hope he considers that others may not have the same opinion of me that he does. I am not looking to bring more unnecessary trouble and work to his site"
yeah.. I get PMs all the time bout how people loathe you... they cant stand it when you post... actually.. the posts I get are people trying to get MORE info on your group.. where you play, who you are.. etc
Yeah, people will SAY they like me until I drag my sweaty, old fat carcass into their presence. I do not want to give you folks a repeat of the Barbarian issue. There will always be some people that like initially what they see but over time their opinion changes for various reasons. I do not want the people here saddled with that old baggage.
Like Krass people will learn to hate me when I put them in the T-shirt that says Eat pork or Die! (just kidding)
To be honest my playing criteria may be too strict for MANY people. I accept that and the baggage that goes with it. I have met some very good people that way. I have also made some incredible enemies that way. So I want people to get to know me before I inflict my presence on you as GM. I am going to enter this arena very slowly just like you are reluctant to run your game too fast. I respect that attitude.
Quote:as I recall the details Mr Johnson you made the suggestion of a Hershey game in this very thread
yeah I have this tendency to open the mouth before my foot has a chance to plug it up... im not gonna bullshit.. im a little worried about running that detailed of a campaign since ive never really been much of a GM.. in RL when Melinko and Rahgast and I use to play... one of them would GM it (in about 12 years i probably ran about 4 or 5 unsuccessful campaigns and only 1 good D&D campaign)... for the time being im gonna collect the info here and mix some good ole fashion cocoa and sugar in it and see what comes out of the mix... what I may do is as I suggested earlier and run a mini campaign to get me warmed up.. then lead it into the Hershey campaign.
Heh heh heh, Don't we all. Nature of a good GM of course. We all do it because it is so seldom we find other strongly committed GM's to talk our ideas over with. We have ALL seen how rare good contributing players are. The problem is that GOOD CONTRIBUTING GM's are even RARER! PLAYERS IF YOU FIND A FAIR GM with a good imagination and a fun personality then SUPPORT your choice and CONTRIBUTE. You have the power to encourage a GM to be really great.
It takes a long time for a GM to train themselves to present a really good world to attract like minded players. These worlds are not developed over night. It will take me much work to present a good, fresh SR game here! If I do it will be with some serious consultation with all the GM's here. It won't be immediate. That means I'll have to cut some things out that I am doing now.
So let me make this clear to everyone. I am pushing poor Mr Johnson and several of the other GM's I have talked to here to run some more games so that with our diverse looks at things we can attract a wide range of viewpoints. Each of them should be ENCOURAGED who are already running games. Support them because it is critical for all of US to improve. Especially if you want to be able to play more games in the future. When I retire, which is not that far away, I hope to have more time to devote here.
In a side note, I am even considering shutting down the Retro's for a while as a group to run a game here. However... a strong however, if I do so, I desire NOT to bring the Retro's world and history in but create a new SR world that will fit the goals and views and plans of other GM's here! Other players will get the chance to make their marks if it happens. The other Retro's may or may not play here, that is there choice. If they do so they will do so as the characters some have already created here or will make NEW ONES and work to establish NEW reputations on an equal footing with everyone else. NO SPECIAL PRIVILEGES! They won't be able to trade in on old reps but must reestablish them under the guidelines and rules here. It's good training for them. They will earn what they get.
I desperately do not want to contaminate this site, I want everyone here to develop their worlds and their styles so that nothing precious is lost, not replay my world views over and over. That is why I issue things only as suggestions. No one need follow them if you are uncomfortable with them or think they won't work.
Thanks for taking the time to listen to an old guy who sometimes rambles a bit too much. By the way, where the heck is Raghast?
