As you pull out of the secured parking garage and into the street,
Tank notifies the group that he sees Tortuga's Westwind, [pricey
sports car] heading south towards Vitto's.
It's beautiful night for a ride; a full moon, clear skies and the
contentment of being gainfully employed again. You can tell Star is
just itching to open up the `moon' roofs and enjoy the night
sky unrestricted, and Bang equally itching to enjoy a good flick,
but instead, at of respect to everyone, they keep their desires
tamed as the team silently digests the information given to them,
contemplating their next move.
It's rather quiet as you cruise down 1st avenue, once the main
artery of downtown Seattle back in the late 20th century before the
Metroplex was formed. Now, mixed pockets of high-tech and lowlife
litter the seaside city as it desperately clings on to it's former
past, and slowly makes way into the rapidly approaching 22nd century.
Turning onto Yesler Way headed toward the 5 freeway, the
surroundings become a bit seedier. A lowlife pocket if you will. The
buildings, shadows of their former selves, are a stark contrast to
the modern buildings of today. A few cars pass by now and then, but
not as prevalent as when you cruised 1st avenue.
As you approach 5th avenue, the light turns red and you come to rest
at a empty intersection. Two cars cross Yesler heading north, then
moments later a third passes heading south. The quiet contemplation
of the night instantly erupts into a cataclysm of high velocity lead
and shards of flying glass particles.
[From the vantage point of Tank, Ashi and to a lesser degree Hellion
(looking forward through the open window that leads into the
cockpit)]
As the third car starts to cross in front, the engine of the limo
shuts off and the dark areas where windows should be, light up with
muzzle flash from both the front and back seats of the car. The
black sedan comes to rest moments after a maelstrom of hot lead
ricochets off the front windshield of the limo, leaving numerous
pock marks in tight groups where Tank and Ashi's heads once were.
[From the vantage point of the passengers in the rear; Chain, Bang,
Star, Hellion: ]
Like a well-trained orchestra, at the same moment as the occupants
of the sedan unload their fury upon Tank and Ashi, bullets rain
through both sides of the side glass of the limo, piercing through
the ballistic treated glass like bayonets through rice paper,
leaving the windows in tact save for quarter sized bullet holes. One
hits its mark, striking Bang in his left kidney through his armored
jacket, while another grazes Star's neck. The other high velocity
lead narrowly missing flesh, instead piercing the cushion seats and
entertainment center respectively. The sights and sounds of lead
ricocheting off the limo continue as members of the famed Section 8
team react to the perfectly timed ambush.
As the glass particles settle from the first assault, Hellion is the
first to react, and quickly glances around at the surroundings
before sliding to the floor for cover and drawing his faithful
Guardian. His face lights up with a familiar savage grin.
In the far distance, the sound of squelching tires is heard, as Ashi
quickly peeks up from his cover to survey the area as he draws his
handgun in his left hand and some small object in his right.
The sounds of hot lead ricocheting off the armored limo continue to
flood your ears, while heavy weapons fire continues to fly through
both sides of the rear passenger windows with relative ease. Two
shots buzz either side of Chain's ears, covering the back of his
head with shattered glass. Another shot hits the empty space just
micrometers away from Bang's right shoulder. And finally another
shot whizzing by Star, only microns away from hitting her in her
neck again.
Chain dives across the car to land on the floor microseconds after
more bullets punch through the windows of the Limo. "Everyone
down!", he cries loudly. He sits against the door with his back to
the entertainment center, his Ares Viper Slivergun quickly appearing
in hand. With a quick glance he looks out the window before ducking
his head back down.
Tank, apparently caught off guard by the onslaught of gunfire or
possibly trying to recall whether or not his insurance payments are
caught up on the limo, maintains his crouched position below the
dashboard as bullets continue to ricochet off the front windshield.
In the midst of the chaos of flying glass, Wandering Star calmly
reaches out to touch Bang beside her. "We'll heal you." Her eyes
first glow with silvery moonlight then suddenly the light flares
brightly-mirroring the full moon above. At the same instant a warm
blue glow surrounds Star's body, evidence of an armor spell.
Clutching his left side, Bang rolls forward off the seat, as Star
keeps her hands on him. As he rolls onto the floor of the limo,
holding his hands to his wound, he begins to chant. Bang's body is
now also enveloped in a warm blue glow.
Content for the moment, Hellion remains on the floor of the limo
grasping his Guardian, with the savage grin still implanted on his
face.
The sound of a highly revved engine can be heard closing quickly
towards the limo, as Ashi keeps a low profile below the dashboard,
his eyes slightly out of focus and deep in concentration.
More bullets careen off the front of the limo, while others continue
to rain in through the side windows, now closely resembling Swiss
cheese. Two shots punch through the glass that would surely have
taken Star's head off had she not ducked down a fraction of a second
sooner. Bang lets out a hushed moan, as one of the high velocity
rounds pierces through the ballistic glass, his armor spell and then
finally his armored jacket, striking him dead center in his back.
The final shot hits Hellion square in his rib cage, as blood pours
freely from his body leaving a large red stain on his stark white
suit.
Chain ducks as the bullets punch through the glass around his head.
He leans toward the door to get a look up at the building on the
driver side of the car. Seemingly lost in thought he says, "Astral
recon?"
Ashi quickly speaks up, "Spirit fled."
Tank mimics Ashi's pose, keeping a low profile below the dashboard
of the limo. Star continues to keep her hands on Bang as she
maintains concentration, the warm blue glow of an armor spell still
present around her. Bang remains low to the ground, his armor spell
apparently still active.
Like a heat seeking missile, a speeding Westwind resembling
Tortuga's rockets past the limo and tees the parked sedan just off
center sending it rolling across the pavement several times before
it comes to rest on its side. Upon impact, the gunman in the front
passenger side is ejected from the car, careens off the side of the
Westwind, and then tumbles to the ground. The Westwind, only
slightly dinged up, continues on spinning in circles in a controlled
manner before coming to rest facing the limo.
Chain's head jerks back with a start as he takes a few sniffs of the
air. He turns his lopsided grin to the rest of the team. "Fuel
leak," he says. "Time to go, lady and gents!" A look that hints of
insanity enters his eyes as he grabs his monofilament whip and
reaches for the door.
Snarling in response, Hellion coils in preparation to exit the
vehicle. Then with a cat like grace, Hellion nimbly makes his way
past his crouched companions, and pushes past Chain, leaving a trail
of precious life fluid behind him. As he opens the car door and
steps out, a pungent fragrance of fuel rushes into the limo. Seeing
the gunman exposed on the ground, Hellion pops two shots towards the
fallen warrior from behind the limo door. The first shot nails the
assailant in the stomach, the other ricochets off the pavement
floor. Almost instantly a high caliber bullet punches through the
door window, narrowly missing Hellion then continues on, burring
itself in the safe door, while a second one tears through the left
side window and hits the cushion at chest level, just fractions of
an inch from Star once again.
Keeping a low profile, Tank grabs his remote control deck and seems
to be concentration while scanning out of all the windows in the
front of the car. Emerging from the wrecked vehicle, another gunman
pops up in place of the one that was ejected and unloads two burst
shots towards Hellion. The first volley of shots manage to find a
crease in Hellion's armored suit, pegging him in the gut. The
second, missing him completely.
Following Tank's actions, Ashi continues to keeps a low profile
below the dashboard, his eyes slightly out of focus and in deep
concentration.
A second gunman peaks up from the back seat of the wrecked sedan and
unloads two burst rounds into the custom Westwind resembling
Tortuga's. The first barrage of hot lead blows through the driver
side glass and narrowly past Tortuga's head as he ducks down below
the dash. The second barrage misses completely, sending a trail of
bullet holes down the driver side door.
The gunman lying on the ground gets up on his knees, tosses an
object towards the limo, then ducks and rolls towards his right in
the direction of the Westwind.
Wandering Star turns her glowing gaze towards Chain, "Clear a
path!". Her eyes flare once more as she looks through the tattered
window in hopes of catching where Hellion fled. With the light
forming a moon-like halo around her visage as she directs her
intense stare at Hellion, then flinching slightly as Hellion
disappears from sight, all the while not breaking contact with Bang
and looking prepared to flee.
Bang lying halfway between his stomach and his side, rolls over
slightly and stares out the window in the direction of the gunfire.
The Westwind's turbo engine revs, as if taking a deep breath in
anticipation of another overexertion. Tortuga's head pops up
momentarily. Thankfully still attached to his body.
Chain springs from the wrecked Limo to the side of the
building. "Grenade!" he shouts to the rest of the group. Raising the
Ares Viper, he fires a burst at the helmed gunman rolling away from
the limo. The numerous sharp metal fragments from the flechette ammo
scatters off the pavement missing their target completely. After
firing the first burst, Chain shifts his aim and fires a second
burst from the Viper at the gunman in the back seat of the sedan.
The second burst finds it mark as the sound of countless metal
fragments ricocheting off armor plates pierces the night air.
The limo shifts to the right slightly from the weight of some unseen
force followed by a flying object that arches over the windshield of
the limo and hits the prone gunman square in the ribs. A gunshot
shortly follows and nails the prone attacker in his shoulder. A
loud "clank" sound reverberates through the air, as the high-powered
projectile pierces though his security armor.
Tank yells, "Grenade!! Out!" Echoing Chains sentiments. He quickly
un-jacks from the limo then exits, firing a single shot from his
Salvalette Guardian up in the air towards the building across the
street on the left.
Almost immediately, return fire rains down towards Tank. Two shots
narrowly miss his head, as Tank ducks behind the driver side door.
Both shots punch through the glass then burry themselves deeply in
the dashboard. At the same moment two other high velocity rounds
blow through the front passenger side window. The first shot
narrowly missing Ashi, while the second one grazes his right
shoulder, tearing through his unarmored clothing with ease, sending
blood splatter across the seat.
The Driver tracks Chain as he runs for cover behind the building.
Then unloads two burst rounds, leaving a trail of pockmarks in the
concrete building behind him.
A very loud explosion quickly follows; sending the prone attacker
tumbling up in the air. Then as quickly as he ascended, he comes
crashing down with a thud. The percussion of the explosion nearly
causes Tank to buckle, as hot shrapnel tears through Chains armored
long coat and ricochets off the limo. Staggered by the explosion,
Chain's unnatural balance keeps him on his feet.
The rear attacker continues to focus his attention and machine
pistol towards Tortuga. Two burst shots tear through the unarmored
stallion but manage to miss Tortuga completely.
Hearing the excited words of his companions, Ashi quickly exits the
limo firing his Elite at the attackers in the car as he scrambles
for cover. Both shots ricochet off the undercarriage of
the overturned vehicle.
The Mask of the moon remains constant as Wandering Star slides her
glowing hand along Bang's prone body and takes his hand. "Let's
leave," she says calmly to him turning her gaze out of
the limo. Star and Bang make it the car door and use it as a shield
as they study their next move.
"CHINGATE!" can be heard as the Westwind leaps forward with tires
squealing and bolts into action, driving over the downed gunman. A
few loud `thumps' can be heard as the gunman tumbles underneath the
low profile sports car. Like something out of an action movie,
Tortuga performs a perfect 180 and comes to rest in the crosswalk
perpendicular to the limo.
With a quick glance about, Chain begins to sprint toward Tortuga's
stallion. The Viper in his hand bucking with burst fire as he runs.
The seemingly endless spray of heated sharp metal shards shatters a
window across the street revealing a kneeling sniper. Almost at the
same instant more gunfire breaks out on the ground level near the
limo from an unseen source.
The Westwind's doors fly open, and out steps Tortuga, taking two
shots at the newly revealed sniper. Tortuga folds the drivers seat
of the Westwind forward to open up room to get into the bench seat
in the back, then motions to Bang and Star and says, "Get in."
Tortuga turns his head and looks at Chain running up to the car.
Tank brings up his Guardian in military fashion, takes careful aim
and unloads a burst towards the sniper, knocking the high-powered
rifle out of sight. Suddenly gunshots rain out from an unknown
source followed by the patter of quickly moving footsteps that
passes in front of the limo. The sniper across the street falls out
of view.
Two shots in rapid order blow past Tank, leaving golf ball sized
wholes in the driver side window narrowly missing him as he ducks
down for cover.
Having lost his intended target, Chain takes cover behind the car
then glances about quickly before firing his Viper up in the air
towards the building next to the limo. Again glass shatters in a
million pieces as the shards from the flechette rounds sends a
shower of glass to the ground revealing the hidden gunman.
Unsatisfied with the results, Chain unloads another fury of shards
at the sniper, knocking him back out of view. Chain ducks down,
using the car and car door as cover.
The Driver, trying to gain more accuracy upon his less armored
victim, switches his gun to semi-auto mode and fires two shots at
Ashi. The first shot whizzes by Ashi as he dives forward. The second
shot glances Ashi in the shoulder as he pops up to his feet. Tired
of feeling like a duck in a carnival shooting game, Ashi rushes with
great speed towards the two gunmen in the overturned car. Moments
before he reaches the car, Ashi leaps in the air with the crackling
energy of his mono-whip suddenly emerging in his hand. With a quick
snap of his wrist, the monofilament wire slices across the Driver's
chest and through his security armor with relative ease. The gunman
slumps forward as Ashi tumbles to the ground behind the overturned
vehicle.
The gunner in the back seat, seeing an opportunity to put an end to
the mono-wielder's prowess, leans down and fires two shots into
Ashi. Both shots narrowly miss vitals as Ashi tumbles out of the
way. The first one tears flesh on his left side, the other grazes
his right arm.
Star dashes into Tortuga's car, ducking her head at the last second
and pulling Bang quickly behind her, flinching at the resounding
gunfire. Doing his best as not to break contact with Star, Bang
keeps pace with her as they run towards Tortuga's car. Not breaking
stride, he looks up to the building beside the limo, then back at
the gunman that just fired upon Ashi. Bang stops short of entering
the car, his eyes narrow as an intense look of concentration appears
on his face. The final gunman briefly contorts violently before
slumping down out of sight.
Tortuga looks at Bang and says "in or out".
Tank looks over at Tortuga saying flatly, "Cut fuel line."
A small pool of blood begins to form near the lone gunman lying in
the street. Suddenly it moves slightly, then from an unseen source
two small projectiles, one right after another, become visible and
fly though the air. The first, barely making it over the windowsill
that the sniper was crouched behind in the building across the
street from the window. The second, through the window where the
second sniper had been.
Glancing from wall to wall, Chain swings the Viper back and forth
seeking a target, then slides on his hip across the trunk of the
Westwind in Dukes of Hazard fashion and gives Bang a shove into the
car. "Let's move guys."
Hearing Chain's call for action, Ashi dashes from around the
overturned car and bolts towards the Westwind shouting, "Pop the
trunk!"
Tank notifies the group that he sees Tortuga's Westwind, [pricey

the car, his eyes narrow as an intense look of concentration appears
on his face.
Hearing Chain's call for action, Ashi dashes from around the
overturned car and bolts towards the Westwind shouting, "Pop the
trunk!"
