Description: Squeak lives in a small warehouse in Auburn. The doss is rather run down, but it is spacious enough for the ork’s uses. The first floor is essentially a large garage with work benches, computer parts, electronic components, and mechanical equipment scattered about and sorted into several aluminum trashcans scattered about the place. Here he keeps his Bulldog van, along with several drones. The mini drones are kept under lock and key in a storage locker, while the rotodrone occupies a corner of the shop, covered by a tarp. The rest of the grease-stained floor is open, but it has connections for more complicated equipment, but Squeak has yet to buy it. The upstairs is a shabbily furnished apartment with a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. Squeak has also purchased a pretty tight security system to keep his shop safe.

Doctor Spark (Electronics dealer and guru 2/4): Doc Spark operates a “used electronics” store, which is basically a warehouse he keeps full of stolen electronic equipment that he “wholesales.” He was the man who originally enticed Squeak to skim a little off the top from the UCAS military, and though the good doctor might have been one of the mechanisms for his downfall, Squeak still keeps in touch with him for the many services he can provide.
Description:
Squeak is rather skinny for an ork. He has oily dark hair and scraggly goatee, and wears a beat-up Urban Brawl cap pulled low over his eyes. His chicken-wing shoulder blades poke out of his grease-stained wife-beater, and a tool belt of various implements hangs around his waist. He wears a pair of urban camouflage fatigues for pants, and old UCAS Military issue boots. A unit tattoo depicting a knight chess piece with a sword bisecting it. The strangest trait of all, however, is squeak’s incessant need to pick his teeth with the toothpick in his mouth. When the toothpick becomes so soggy it won’t hold its shape anymore, he reaches into his back pocket, pulls out another one, and goes at it again.
Matrix Persona:
When in the matrix, squeak takes the form of burly ork in a business suit, except with “Go-go-gadget” type abilities—helicopter that comes out of his head, extending arms, various “gadgets” implanted in his body that take the form of his various programs.
Personality:
They call him “Squeak,” not only because of his rather thin stature, but also because he has a tendency of “squeaking” by trouble, despite his run of bad luck over the years. He is rather quirky at times, and downright rude at others, but the optimist would say that he “marches to the beat of a different drum.’ Either way, he’s quite the gear head, preferring the solitude of machines to metahuman company. He has a tendency of mumbling things under his breath, snapping at people over innocuous issues, and being overall rather “sassy.” He always keeps a box of toothpicks on him, working it around in his mouth as a kind of nervous quirk. If for some reason he finds he is out, he will go seek out another box before he does anything else.
History:
Squeak started life as an only child in Louisville Kentucky in the CAS. Hisfather was an automotive mechanic who owned his own shop. His mother was a secretary for a legal firm in the city. He occasionally helped his father in the shop, but mostly the skinny ork was infatuated with the matrix. He spent inordinate amounts of time plugged into his cyberdeck, much to his parents’ dismay. Still, it was a pleasant, if slightly dysfunctional, existence. Life for Squeak was going splendidly, right up until the Matrix crash of 2064. Fortunately for him, he wasn’t plugged into the system at the time, but in the ensuing chaos, millions of SIN records all across the globe were lost; he and his family counted among the number.
The family was thrown into chaos. His mother lost her job. His father couldn’t renew his business license, and the family ended up destitute. Then, in 2066, they heard that the UCAS was offering a SIN amnesty program to all of the people who had lost their legal rights in the crash and hit upon a plan to at least provide their son with a better life. They invested most of their money to get their son smuggled across the CAS/UCAS border into Ohio where he enrolled in the SIN amnesty program.
Squeak lied on his application, telling them that he was actually 18 years old (a fact which seemed plausible, given the fact that orks mature a lot faster than other races). But fortunately for him, the authorities weren’t interested in asking question. Two weeks later, he was the proud owner of a shiny new SIN. But that left him with another problem—mainly, how to support himself. With no contacts in the UCAS and most of his savings spent, he did about the only thing that he could do—he joined the military.
Strict military discipline didn’t agree with Squeak that much, but when they saw his proficiency with computers and his nominal background in mechanics and vehicles, they quickly saw skills they could use to their advantage. Squeak spent most of his 3 years in the service flying helicopters and drones, utilizing his considerable skills in both the matrix and behind the wheel to perform combat, recon, and electronic warfare duties. After basic training, he was shipped off to Seattle where he did his mandatory two year tour.
In that time, Squeak met an illicit dealer in electronics that called himself “Doctor Spark,” and hit upon an idea to sell outdated UCAS military electronics equipment to the good doctor for a modest fee. He made quite a tidy profit, squirreling away quite a bit of extra funds, until the military got wind of it. They couldn’t exactly prove any of it, only that some electronics equipment mysteriously disappeared from a storage unit at the base, but the suspicion was enough to allow them to give Squeak a dishonorable discharge out of the army.
The settled down in Seattle after that, buying a new doss and some equipment to go along with it. He had to pay the military restitution for all of the ‘ware they put into his body (since they can’t really take it out and leave him in
the condition that they found him), but the money from his illicit trades covered that. Doctor Spark set him up with a fixer in the area who operated with certain Shadow elements of the city in order to get work, and since then, Squeak has been operating as a hacker/rigger/driver for various odd jobs in the shadow community, trying to make a name for himself and get into a real shadowrun.
