On the outside, it appears a typical run-down building in the Barrens. Inside, it has good carpetting, plush chairs, hand-crafted tables, and quite a few fine pieces of art. It also is guarded by the local gang, who Nerlata pays for protection and occasionally do jobs for.

HISTORY
Nerlata was born to Gertrude and Jeremy Mayumi. Gertrude worked as a janitor, while Jeremy was a low-payed wagemage. They both were disappointed by their daughter's lack of magical talent, but they loved her anyway. She grew up with a poor lifestyle, her family often struggling to pay the bills, and as such she was exposed to the seedier side of life early, as her father occasionally took up a run or two to help during the bleaker times. But, otherwise, she was happy.
As Nerlata grew up, her eyesight grew progressively worse. Finally, doctors said it was a simple malformation of the eye causing it, and the only cure was complete cyber replacement. Though it was rough on her, she ended up spending her teen years as one of the first people of her class to have cybernetic implants. Teased about it, she retreated to literature, poetry, and philosophy, using them as comforts.
After high school, Nerlata ended up working as a minor security officer for Genetor Industries. Trained how to use a pistol, her main job amounted to mostly dealing with the occasional minor kid attempting a robbery or to break up conflicts. That would not have taken her far if it wasn't for a group of shadowrunners striking the corporation, attempting to cause internal damage to it. She attempted to stop them, only to end up beaten for her efforts by the people she was trying to stop.
Genetor, in spite of Nerlata's failure, decided to induct her into their more cyberized units. She underwent heavy modification, including improvement of her cybereyes, and was quickly trained by them to be among their elite. The next time she met that group of runners, over a year later when they were trying it again, she managed to get her very bloody revenge.
Over the next few years she proved to not have as many qualms about killing those who attacked the corporation. While she was hesitant at first, over time each death became easier to stomach. Within only five years, she went from shooting as a last resort to not hesitating to splatter a street mage across the walls. The corporation had her loyalty, and they rewarded her well for her ruthlessness.
Then, came the downfall. Renraku, getting back on its feet after the Arcology incident, bought out Genetor. On the news, they said they were sending in specialists to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the current employees and decide who to keep. What they really did was send in death squads, using the corporation to test some of the new toys they got from Deus. The employees who survived the innitial attack found themselves fighting for their lives. It did not take them long to realize the corporation they had worked for was effectively gone, so those who could escape ran with everything they could carry that was of value. No one was surprised to find themselves declared dead afterwards.
Nerlata managed to, with the aid of a few acquaintances she made through her friends at Genetor, make her way to her current home. Ever since, she has pawned off items she stole from the company that she feels to be a hindrance or that she has no use for. Of those she escaped with, only Neonet, as he is now called, is one she keeps in contact with, the two of them never meeting face to face but constantly sliding work and other items each other's way.
However, now she's in a bind: The items she stole are mostly pawned, her cash is running out, and her ammo is low. To her, now would be a perfect time for trying out the new lifestyle.
Note: This is just a basic summary of the intended story. I just want to get a feel of it across. Maybe tweek it later.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Nerlata stands just four centimeters short of two meters tall. Her Japanese features are softened by how many generations her family has lived in North America and her life spent in the shadows, doing most of her activity once the sun sets. Her obvious cybernetic arms reflect the occasional light, while her gaze is dark and seems to follow you. Her shirts typically have some phrase on them, one she found funny or simply liked, while her synthetic pants usually have a small scattering of holes and missing patches in addition to at least four pockets. Her belt is black and has slots for clips, in addition to a holster, while her long coat is a dark grey of one who often needs to blend into the darkness.
PERSONALITY
Nerlata likes to pretend she's sophisticated, intelligent, and well read. At the same time, she likes laughing maniacally while firing grenades into a room full of her enemies. She's willing to kill whoever she needs to without remorse, is far from afraid to kill for money, and relies heavily on a healthy dose of paranoia and military-style training.
