OOC: Pelch, "That's good Krondax because I was having some fun with you as well. No problem on the posting Wheels, as long as we know you ARE active we keep you in play. Like Mao you could go a week without posting, but since he hasn't SAID he quit, we just keep it going for him when he comes due. He will probably hate the fact that I took his nice, quiet, reserved character and actually had him say something and do something besides adjust his hat. Yes Krondax, that's sarcasm too. "

Reaching over to the box and takes out another Cuban. She slowly puts the clipper over the end for show as she looked back up at the elf.
"So? I'm just a shadow runner now. What is it that makes me so interesting to you?" she asks, accenting the question with a 'schwing' sound as she clips off the tip. Reaching into a pocket, she takes out a white tipped match and draws it on the bottom of the desk, setting the match head ablaze and begins to blow out through the cigar to light this one as well.
"What is your motive behind this? You do know that I will be checking this all out before I truly believe you. You already messed up on your facts. It wasn't an old business partner, at least not one of mine. Never met the man before. it was an assassin hired to kill me by a pissed off business partner."
She tilted her head down as she took a long puff, tasting the smoke for a moment before exhaling it, Then she snapped her head up fast to look at him. "You were the one who ordered those Shadow Riders killed. Weren't you?" she said as it slowly dawned on her. "Why, if you think that Pelch is going to be a problem, why not shoot him too?"
The smooth elf smiled at her, "You just keep reaching don't you. You make assumptions based on NO facts. Why would I have Shadow Riders killed? I have no motive. They were already fragging with your team and keeping Dom slowed down and under watch which is as any FOOL ELF could see exactly what we are doing. Watching Dom and the people he hires. No we had nothing to do with your dwarf or the Shadow Riders because watching him we could keep tabs on your boss. We had no interest in killing Riders or of framing your little dwarf lover because they would have been accomplishing the same thing we wanted, which was shaking lose info."
Widow started reaching for a tonfa but thought better of it. It was the elf's home turf and he could have anything ready if she made any overt moves. "See, you can think when you want to make the attempt." The elf stated superciliously.
He smiled thinly at her, "You assume that minor details are wrong, maybe it's that I don't find them important since it changes nothing. Maybe I just don't plan to cover every detail with the kind of accuracy that you like to see. Also minions don't always report every little detail, it doesn't mean that it is important. Don't get so caught up in detail that you miss what is really important."
"What is important is that IF you really thought I was lying you would have walked already. You hope that by marring my desk and stealing cigars and puffing smoke that I will get angry and reveal something. Childish. Desks can be repaired and replaced and cigars are nothing compared to the gains I can make in all this. All a minor expense. You're in the big time and don't know it. We aren't talking small change minor runs now with big money being 100,000 NuYen. We are talking corporate stakes where a half a percentage point can equal a couple of million NuYen or more."
"The problem you have is that I know way to much to make you comfortable. You hope to be able to get further information from me that will tell you what you want to know. Some information, like your dwarf buddy I'll give you for free. I have no involvement with him or Riders. Other information you won't even be allowed to suspect, like who I represent or what I am trying to do. Now you asked why we are interested in you. That is easy. Even now most of your team, except the dwarf Pelch are down in your hideout talking about how the new situation has messed up their plans to track trucks as they are being hijacked. You also have a new dwarf rigger called Wheels. They are wondering where you are. What is it lately with Dom and dwarfs? Maybe because he is changing that strip club he has an over abundance of sleazy dwarfs?"
Widow glared at the fragger, frustrated. "What do you want!"
"I would have thought that would be obvious by now. We want you to work for us and move your team where we want them to go so we can nail your boss. What could be more simple than that?"

OOC: Pelch, "We made some great gains tonight in the storyline based off Boombaby and Krondax's post. Boombaby's post has given us the chance to increase some detail in the hideout and to review the strategy and see what it will gain us. His line let us lead in with some important things the group needs to consider. Krondax's post has not only started to reveal a fourth player in this corporate mess but highlights something that we want firmly established in the history. Dom is BIG TIME! He has made a connection in a Triple A Corp, KD&A. He is now on the board but his annual salary is now in the millions of NuYen. Heck, he pulls down close to half a million a day just in salary! That doesn't count other profits he has going.
So if anyone was wondering how Dom can afford what he is doing? Start thinking. While he got stock options, perks and a place on the board as well as several other minor companies, he also gave out some stock options to KD&A for their action in his enterprises! That means that part of his current renovation funding is coming from those other assets as well. He is no longer a mid level fixer but is playing on the corporate level. Easy Street.....Right? Wrong!
When power structures change and someone gains power and makes moves OTHER players big and small are going to be VERY IN-terested! Nestles was checking just about the rumors. Others though have noticed the sudden change in the wind and for them the direction may be from the sewers. So is Widow dealing with some kind of Fed strike-force? Another Corp? A Lone Star or Knight Errant corruption team based on the political possibilities. Heck it even could be the Tir is concerned! How about a DRAGON?
So remember folks. While Dom appears to have made it into the BIG TIME and people may wonder where his money is coming from? His problems just got a lot more hairy. He still has to watch the bottom line of course, but not at the petty ante runner level most people are used to seeing him in. You guys can't even make a dent in his PETTY CASH! What he does have to watch is the reactions and interest at the corp level and that is where he has to concentrate. Now is it any wonder his whole situation is changed? Of course his way of thinking and his methods of operation are changing with it! So will the reactions of other places of power and even low level people will perceive him differently. One thing is he will be showing, but not necessarily living a more 'legit' lifestyle.
Let's leave it there for now and let everyone think about it. Sometimes it helps to show where the big picture is headed. So treat this as a roadmap. "

What have I gotten my hoop into now... Bobby thinks to himself as he listens to Quicksilver. As he winds down, Wheels lets go a large belch and stands up, stretching mightily.
"I don't suppose that it occured to you, that based on what you told me earlier, you just told our friends that we have no idea what the frag is going on. Drek. They are probably laughing their asses off at us." Wheels walks over to the Trideo and cranks the volume to a very high level and then strolls back to where the others stood, mouths agape.
The three of them leaned close in order to continue the conversation. "It seems the first order of business is getting the group back together and have a conversation, as you say. So, I have a bunch of maybe dumb questions.
(Gang Identification check to see what I know:[dice=6][dice=6][dice=6][dice=6])
"You mentioned Denny Park and the Halloweeners. Now I don't know that much about them. I had a run in of sorts with them not that long ago. Some big rumble down on the docks. Blew a van out from under my hoop." Bobby looks directly at Quicksilver and grins. "Your big friend wasn't too impressed with that. However, if we have a chance to take some gangers down a notch or two, I can definitely make this personal. But, my question is. Why get info on this Tony guy? Whats the big deal with him? Why are we checking into him in the first place? I mean, what the frag does Dom care about some slag who's jacking his trucks? Geek the drekhead and move on. The Halloweeners, what's their bosses name? Slash n Burn, he'd probably thank us if we offed this slagger. Heck, he might even lay off on the hijackings...
Next, who the heck is this Pelch guy and where the frag is he? I mean, if he's part of the 'team', where is he? Why isn't he here and who is supposed to be contacting him? Is anyone supposed to be helping him? Or does the 'Knuckleheads' leave their chummers out to dry? If thats the case, I walk right now..." Mao looked ashamed but didnt say anything for the moment...Bobby continued.
"Obviously, the leader, according to Quicksilver is busy, probably with whom ever it is she is busy with. You say you can't get ahold of her? What did you try? What have you done? Where have you looked?..." The more questions Bobby asked, the more the two others looked dejected.
DREK!! I must be in a Krass dream or some fragged up mess like that... Bobby screamed inside his head, as he suddenly strode away to the nearest wall and banged his head against it a couple of times...[rand=04475897972678699613186998142705952166102619875957201718889310699545]

She let out a laugh as she took anothre puff of the Cuban. "First, these are Cuban Cigars. They dont last very long unless you have them in a Humadore. And that box is not a humadore. Secondly, they are made to be smoked, and if you didnt want them smoked, you would have hidden them someplace where I would not see them. And if I truely wanted to mar your desk, I would have done the match on the top, not the bottom underside where no body is going to watch." She took another puff of her cigar, and then exhaled, reaching to the ashtray to knock some ashes off.
"Now, the real question is then.....What exactly do you want us to do. You say you want us to work for you and for us to be moved to where you want us to be to nail him. That leaves just what we must do, and what will become of us when we are done heloing you with Dom."

The elf looked at Widow like she was the dumbest thing since Krass. "You still get hung up on silly things like cigars. It's your time you are wasting, your team is waiting for you to come back and lead them to victory or at least some cash. Mao calls you guys Knuckleheads. It seems to describe you perfectly. Who cares what the cigars are or how you use them? Stick them where the sun don't shine for all I care. As for what I want you to do?" He looked directly at her and he looked serious.
"Stop asking questions you aren't going to get any answers to. You don't have any leverage or authority to ask questions. You certainly don't have anything you can use that will hurt me. Even if you report this conversation we will know it. You see you have that headset I used to bring you here. It's one way. You will receive orders. You don't question or argue or even answer. It will give you certain jobs we want you or your group to do, some of your group or maybe even your Johnson and his buddies could be eliminated if we chose to have you do it. Then we will watch to see if you carry out those orders without weaseling or goofing off. How fast you obey and how high you jump when we say 'FROG!' will determine what happens to you. Now if you do a good job for us? We reward you, really well. If you don't we kill you and maybe the next person will be smarter about doing what we want. You came here thinking you have a choice. Choice implies that you have some control over the situation. You don't have that. You came here so that I could make it very clear to you that we own your hoop. If we tell you to go peddle it on the street for 10 NuYen a shot you do it or you start taking a long vacation in a 24 by 7 dirt-nap hotel."
He smiled at her cruelly, "You see, you made a lot of mistakes. I'm your BOSS! Your not a customer I have to impress. You are my flunky, toady, or in street lingo my BIATCH! You sitting down and taking my smokes? Stupid. I'll be deducting the cigars and cost of the desk from what you earn. If you don't earn the money I'll have the pleasure of making sure that for the rest of your life you will regret it." He pressed a buzzer and the ork guard returned. He smiled and motioned Widow out.

OOC: Pelch, "That takes care of the Widow's thread. Sheesh those guys sound like what the Star did to me. I hope she is not crazy enough to try something here. I wonder what she will do? Now Pelch, he squealed like a stuck pig and gave the Star what they wanted. Will Widow? Now onto Wheels."

OOC: Pelch, "Gang ID Check, well you heard of them. You know their pretty good size relatively speaking and that they are pretty militant. They do have hit squads which usually include Rat Shaman support. Not good to get in a war with them. That's about all you know outside of your past brushes with them. The nice thing is you are learning more now. "Quicksilver looked at Wheels and his histrionics, "Stop doing that, you'll hurt the wall and Fab IV treatment is very expensive. Don't blow your cut." He stated with a slight smile. He turned down the trideo, "You of all people should know that there are signal washers that can take a dirty signal and wash it clean of any outside noise. The trideo just gives us all a headache! Sure we are being listened to. It makes no difference because what we are discussing is already KNOWN by whoever is tapping us. We have been only talking about the stuff we have already made plans for and have done before we knew. The listener has learned very little that is new or even harmful. Besides that the listener could be someone who wants us to nail Tony, too.""Now as to who is Pelch, he's a street dwarf. I told you a little about him before. I just met him myself, so you will have to form your own opinions about him. We mostly used him for his knowledge of Seattle, his contacts, and for low key investigations where we don't want to excite any suspicion. Don't go blaming Mao either. Pelch was ordered to go under cover if the heat got heavy. It's our own stupidity that no one specified where, or made a backup plan because we THOUGHT we could track him any time!" Quicksilver smiled, " As for the Widow? Where do you suggest we start? She has been gone only about an hour, but in an hour she could be anywhere in Seattle. You want to search through millions of people? She has the control room codes and the comm codes for contacting each other down here. It would be the height of stupidity to send everyone out looking don't you think? We sit tight and give her the CHANCE to get back. We will have to trust that she wouldn't be gone like this if it wasn't important. Who knows she might have information we need and she may not want us scattered again before she can tell us. In a War of Patience, your own emotions can get you killed."
"Now let's get to Tony and Dom. If Dom had known a lot about Tony do you think he would have paid us to go find out? Tony has caused Dom trouble before. Tony is here now. We are to find out as much about Tony as possible WITHOUT starting a war with the Holloweeners! That is what he is paying us for. That means we go in quiet, we find out as much about the slag as possible and then we go collect our pay and maybe a bonus if we find out a lot of good stuff. If it stops the hijackings fine, if we get the Holloweeners to cooperate and like us and help Dom we get a BIG bonus. Now it's possible that Davik may have had some information about Tony logged in his control room but until you can get in there we don't know. So, we wait. Now go take a nap and maybe Mr. Grumpy will go away." He got up and headed towards his bed. "It's been a long day for all of us. I suggest you take a shower, get some food, and get some sleep. Who knows how much time we have to put in when Widow resurfaces? Pelch ain't going anywhere and there is no sense us wearing out ourselves racing around when we are not sure where we need to be heading."

OOC: Pelch, "Time to move on."
After Widow left to go where ever it is Widow's go, Mr Smythe pressed the buzzer. Another elf came in and began to straighten the room as Smythe returned to his own office. That room was only used for visitors. As he walked in to his real office, his plain looking human secretary handed him two notices and three information packages. Smythe looked at them and smiled thinly. The secretary left quickly. Smythe was thin and creepy especially with those dark shades on. She preferred to stay away from him when possible but he did pay well.
To Smythe it appeared that two mages had answered his ad for a job and one was a hermetical mage, the other seemed to have equally good qualifications as well. Smythe liked the thought of competition. He would offer them BOTH a job on a temporary basis if they passed his initial screening tests.
He looked at the first applicant's note, one 'Freddy'.
Good afternoon, I am calling in reply to your advert, is it possible to arrange an interview at short notice? Is a physical presence required, or do you conference? -You don't have a trid, that wont matter.
His assistant had already requested that the applicant respond in person for the interview and had set aside the room for the task. She had also compiled some of the known history and strong points. Smythe sat down and began to read.
He looked closely at the background: Ferdilance Frederick, had good administration and Security knowledge and some knowledge of electronics. He had good contacts and some local history that seemed at least somewhat business like. Unfortunately he appeared to be a snake shaman. He also moved around a lot and Smythe was looking for long term workers. His background could present some problems, but also offered some useful points as well. Smythe out of personal preference preferred to steer clear of Shamans. They did not always fit well in a corporate role and it could cause some complications in the job he was hiring for, still snake was NOT a bad choice and just might be one of the totems he could accept. The interview would tell much. He set that packet aside.
The second request was from one 'Volcano'. he was also a dwarf! This made him a definite asset in the current circumstances. If Dom was building a dwarf team, then a dwarf mage would be very likely to be hired first. Gabriel Mackey was the hermetical mage and from what Smythe could see a possible winner. Volcano was familiar with corporate etiquette and diplomacy, had good computer skills and good contacts. A definite possibility. The real proof though was could he handle the decisions and action? Some applicants look good on paper but just didn't have the drive to perform and he wasn't willing to bank on a loser.
Take that new rigger for instance, Wheels. A definite asset. To bad he couldn't have gotten to him first. Bobby Andrews had excellent skills, and thought well. He was the kind of take charge guy that Smythe liked as long as he could take orders and carry them out as well. No wonder Dom had hired him. He had good smuggling skills and knew about border protocols. Smythe considered him a better prospect than Widow for leader, but he didn't have a say in that. Widow was to flighty and didn't seem to have the drive he needed. He saw her as a follower not a leader. If Widow couldn't be controlled as even a follower then he wanted to have people planted and ready to take her place if that was what it took. The fact that this might mean killing Widow did not bother him a bit. Smythe was goal oriented and results driven! He was hoping one of those mages could fit the job. If they could? Dom would never realize his new team was being turned and the first warning he would have was when the bullet hit him. Smythe smiled.

OOC: Pelch, "Enough about that fragger Smythe. I have to put on my extra nasty ass-hat when I do him. Roadmap time. That means I'm going to now give you guys a little chance to make some moves.
Widow has to make some kind of decision about her problem with Smythe. Let me make a contribution. First others CAN give Widow OOC advice! Second, be aware that in most SR games, the runners are able to frag over the corps and Johnson's pretty much at will. In my game? The corps are in positions of power because they have the power and will ruthlessly use it. It will take a really good runner to get around that and all a corps resources. Think carefully before you cross them and if you do better be ready for the payback. Most of them won't be stupid, although every once in a while you will hit upon a really dumb one. It will be rare. Widow has to meet Wheels.
Then Wheels can: Locate Pelch, reestablish the communications links with new codes. REVOKE Daviks old codes. Then decide which of seven dwarfs he wants to be. I don't think it will be Happy or Dopey. He might want to consider cancelling the trucks, drivers and getting the trackers back? He might be able to resell them for a profit and get the money back.......did you think of that Boombaby?
Quicksilver and Mao: Are probably going to have to team and go get Pelch once Wheels gives him a location. Luckily once Wheels gets comm up and running again that will not be too difficult. Be sure that Wheels don't lock you out when he changes the codes. Pelch is mellow at the moment and drunk on his dwarf hoop. Good Luck.
As for the two mages... well they have an interview where they have to sell themselves to Smythe... not an enviable position. Dress nice for the interview guys. Smythe don't like attitude. We saw that with Widow.

((OOC: Sorry Pelch, I'm born of 2 Dwarves but I am Human)) I will show up to my interview dressed in a dark red business suit. On my left hand I will have a silver pinky ring as well as a blue quartz wristband, on my right hand will be a set of chained together sapphire rings. I carry a platinum topped walking cane. Around my neck is an onyx amulet inscribed with a medieval shield.

Play the Game.. corp likes the structure the obvious rules..break stuff in the background - dont get caught, fit in.
looking over the info again, a few points welled out training provided - so its medium to long term contracts, definately not a one off hit. This was about consolidation not blitz. Mage wanted - so there was an in-house recruitment problem, or they wanted fresh blood from outside that could fit in elsewhere - remain inobvious It was the combat bit that foxed him - job specific, but Freddy supposed that it had to mean willing to move around outside a safe research enclave rather than a troll attack magus.
In person, ask at the front door. Local
Preparation, play the game. He usually wore retro real - jeans and silk tee, however because of Meg's lecture tours, his smart suit came out of the sealed rack, shave his head - leaving the pigtail, shiny shoes. Fits good, Squeaky clean. Take off the earrings, keep the ring
Job interviev, junior exec position. Wheres your track record - Seattle citizen - Graduate of the London School for Studies in Mystiscism - on record - Open University Diploma in electronics - on record, good - corps like paperwork, credentials, history.
Chip up with acti-softs, tasar in a zippy brief-bag, very exec, borrowed from Meg' lecture notes. pure water sachet, squirt of eau de colon. 2 x 250 credsticks and 500 in cash
Exiting the shop, he stops a suit to check the time, engaging him for a brief while, step back into the doorway and try out his new spell physical mask F5

Volcano arrived at the Ace Tomato Company first. In his red suit and jewels he suspected he looked the part of a smooth professional. He was escorted up to a mahogany paneled room by a young elf male who motioned for him to be seated and stated, "Mr. Smythe will be with you shortly. Please take a seat." He motioned to two leather covered chairs sitting in front of what looked like a brand new desk. On a mahogany sideboard was cut crystal with what looked like expensive brandy. Cuban cigars were on the desk, as well as a picture of a large house. Sitting carelessly off to one side of the desk was a closed folder.
A short while later Freddy arrived and followed the same routine. His competition appeared to be a dwarf. This WAS unusual as dwarfs normally did not go into magic. A dwarf mage was rare, but it was well known in magic circles that if you encountered a dwarf mage they were very dangerous. The constitution of a dwarf allowed them great endurance in magical casting. This could be a most unusual run. Freddy also noted the folder on the desk and thought to himself that Mr. Smythe had to be pretty fragging dumb to leave a work folder on his desk with unknown clients in the room! He was either the dumbest corporate to have graced the scene, SECURITY-wise, or it had to be an obvious test of some type. The question was, should he show the BALLS and read the folder or should he show restraint as well as smarts and leave the obvious trap alone? The folder would probably NOT contain anything truly incriminating or really useful and it was bad form to go through the bosses desk.
He decided to leave it alone and took a seat. He looked at Volcano and smiled politely.
"I see we are both here for the same job." Freddy stated in a friendly voice. "Hermetic Mage, right?"
Volcano smiled politely back, "Yes Sir, my name is Gabriel Mackey but you can call me Volcano." He extended his hand. He had politely stood up when Freddy entered the room. This guy certainly knew corp etiquette thought Freddy. This job could be harder to land than he thought. Freddy had never faced a Shadow Runner hiring of this nature. It put a whole different face on why Mr Smythe would want a mage from outside the corporation. Freddy shook the dwarf's hand and smiled back politely. He could play the game too.
"Nice to meet you, Sir." He boomed in a hearty good natured manner, "My name is Ferdilance Frederick but most of my friends and acquaintances call me Freddy for short. I am shamanic in nature as you would have already surmised, but I have hopes Sir that this will not give you to much of an edge for our negotiations. Shall we have a seat while we await our possible employer and pass the time in good comradeship before the main event?" They both took seats. Volcano was thinking, {This smooth fragger would probably stick a knife in me the first time I turned around then would smile and proclaim it an accident. Watch this guy.}
Freddy put a look of polite curiosity on his face, "I find it unusual for a person of your racial type to be into magic, especially the hermetical arts. Most of your people are shamanic in nature and few deal in the ART. You don't have to tell me if you find it uncomfortable but I think it a most intriguing and unusual story. Would you care to explain while we have the time?"
