Welcome to Ares Fireteam Bravo, recruit. Having completed your tour of duty in the general Ares security forces, you have been selected to be transferred to the prestigious Fireteam units. Here you will defend Ares from vile and lawless scum, put an end to criminal interlopers and help do your part to protect Ares’ interests across the globe! Congratulations trooper. Welcome to the big time.

So, you have been an employee of Ares for at least 2 years. Your life story before that can still be whatever. You have a SIN. You’re a corp wageslave (security branch). The corp is mother, the corp is father. (heh) Kidding. But it does keep your bills paid, handles insurance, medical, educations and takes care of your family. It’s not a bad life.
That’s the premise (or at least the start) of the game. You are all Ares security personal recently transferred to a new Fireteam. The game will progress through a couple Fireteam issues and then (most likely) head ‘freelance’ (ie the Shadows). There will be an overarching plot as well, assuming the game survives.
There are various character build requirements given this premise. I’ll list them and then get into your points and the like.
Character Requirements:
- You must have a Bod score of at least 3. Strength, Agility and Reflex mins are a 2 and those are ONLY for the serious non-combat/support types. Everyone else better have 3s or better.
- No Attribute score can be a 1. (silly but needs to be said)
- Everyone must have at least 1 gun/firearms skill at a 3.
- Everyone must have Unarmed combat at a 1.
- Everyone is required to have the SINner background (5pt version) as you are working for Ares. If this increases to criminal version during game play, you’ll be rewarded with Karma. Note: as you are required to have it, it will not count towards your total of 35 Flaws.
- There is only 1 Hacker/Technomancer and only 1 Rigger slot. Rigger slot is/would be a field position (ie drones) not sitting cushy and ‘safe’ somewhere. Sorry. Beyond that, I’m open to most char concepts.
Build Points
- You have 210 to spend on stats. (Edge is not included in this total if you weren’t sure.)
- You have 100 points to spend on skills.
- You may take up to 35/35 for Qualities and flaws.
- NOTE: I do not allow any genetic or SURGE qualities or flaws. Same for unusual racial types.
- You have a 3/2 and a 2/1 and a 1/1 contacts to start. (This is to force people to have contacts. It often gets lost in the shuffle of points and everyone knows people.) These may be increased with free points (see below). Anything with more than connection 4 will require significant explanation and justification.
- You have 110 points to spend however you like (race, more skills, spells, magic, gear, contacts, etc).
- For Gear: the max points you can spent is 55 pts.
- You start with a lifestyle prepaid (probably somewhere between low and medium) while you work at Ares. Your starting funds will be all based on that. If you wish to dump money into it for better place, it only applies till the game leaves Ares employment (but would give you better starting funds). After that, you will be on your own/loose previous money invested into lifestyle (just a heads up to be fair).
- (for those with Math issues, that comes to 430bps)
Now, I will give you one week to finish the char and send it to me for approval. I’d like to get the game rolling starting on the 28th. At the latest, Oct 1st. If for some reason you will be away and unable to make either this deadline or the 2/week posting, please let me know so I don’t become frustrated.
