It Begins...
Meg gets a call from an unknown public dataterm number about 11:30 pm. Answering hesitantly without activating the video uplink, she is surprised to see it is her contact Mary. Mary had activated the video link on her end and Meg could see Mary was wet (it was raining downtown) and Mary kept looking around as if she was trying to see if someone was following her.
"Meg? Meg?...That you? Good. Listen, I got a hot tip for yah, but you will need to move fast on it...You interested? Good. Here is the goods..." Mary loads a chip into the public dataterm at her end, and a file quickly downloads. "Okay, gotta run. Be careful with that. And you won't have long to act on it. KE is sending out a team in less than 3 hours. They brought in specialists from Detroit. Later chummer." Mary disconnects and the line goes dead. The light on the Tri-D player blinks at her as she slowly reaches forward to hit the play button.
A scene appears on the screen showing a large brick and mortar building that looks like it has been blown up. Fires still glow in the darkness, and the outline of downtown Seatle can be seen in the far distance. The time on the display shows the footage was taken less than 10 minutes prior. The camera taking the footage circles around the wreckage showing a larger compound surrounded by what appear to be 8' walls with razor wire on top. Two towers, one to each side of the blown up building appear to have automated or perhaps controlled gun mountings and the towers are tall enough to cover most of the grounds and a good distance outside the fence as well. The sign on the building says FoMoCo Development.
After the video footage, there is a file describing the nature of the building. It seems that Ford Motor Company, the owner of the building in the tri-d footage, quietly set up a small R&D center out in the Purity district of the Redmond Barrens near Snohomish (address supplied). It is suspected by Ares to be developing a new combat vehicle to supply to Lonestar. It is suspected that the explosion was the result of Mafia-Yakuza contesting the area and perhaps FoMoCo declined to accept their gracious advances. Either way, Ares suspects that the prototype was located there. They were assembling an assault team to go and take the vehicle for themselves...A brief outline of their itinerary including their ETA on site is included. It could be assumed that local security would be quite strict, at least if any of them survived. The problem was mainly distance from anywhere. The Facility was located at least an hour from anywhere recognizable. But the KE team was coming all the way from Detroit...
A brief recorded message from Mary ends the data file. Mary's voice comes across the Tri-D speakers. "Listen Meg, I know that theft isn't really your thing, but there could be big money in this deal. I know the chiefs here are all burning up the airwaves talking about how much obtaining the vehicle could hinder the next contract negotiations for the Seatle City Center contracts coming up in 18 months time. Everyone knows that Lonestar is barely holding on in lots of places.
You could jump a lot of ways with this one. If you get the vehicle, or any information, specs and what not on the vehicle, you could sell them to the highest bidder. KE or Ares, back to Ford, direct to Lonestar. Heck, you could sell them to Chrysler-Nissan if you wanted. Don't matter who. But you were the only one I know who might have the contacts to pull this off. Anyways, stay safe and good luck..." Mary's voice trails off as the message ends...
Spending a little time surfing the local channels reveals NO news regarding explosions of buildings any where near the area in question. With a little thought, you realize that going head to head, possibly with one or maybe more security teams is going to require some heavy fire power of your own. An image comes to mind. A Giant of a man, down on his knees, head to head with a small dwaven female, both looking down on a hand drawn poster of a sad, sad forest. Didn't Glacier say he had a grenade launcher??

Glacier, Noah and Grass - the thing she liked, well in a strange sort of way, was they were all cut up about that park job - heart. Showed they cared..
Buzz out a call straight off to each of them -
Guys I've got a helluva lead - time is severely restricted - Can you be up and ready to move now - we'll need transport and heavy kit.. I'll fill you in with details on the way - you can decide if you want to go through with this once you've heard the biz..
Maybe heist a low-loader - if the vehicle is disabled as a security measure - if someone can drive one... be nice to know a driver, with a waggon!

Have you got transport G - or know a driver ? - we need to drive about an hour - theres a vehicle that needs erm collecting, however there is some impressive security that will need breaching as well, so your Geat Lady will be in demand !
We can assemble at a useful spot close to you as we will be travelling out past the Barrens.. I can be there soonest.. you got vision enhancers, it is dark so it will be soo much more difficult to target things..
Meg will attempt to get a similar message out to the others as well to get a useful meet - barrens way - arranged as soon as poss..
Damn, wheres Freddy when you need him? She could well do with some magical help from him, but he was off out again searching for a run - He'd be pissed when he got back and found he'd missed out on this one!
Instead she locks up and moves to the back yard - and does what she is very good at, summoning the spirit forces, they will help out no end.. She can fly to meet Glacier, aided by the spirit she can conjour. Meg is slow, having put most of her time into study and lecture tours, but can move magically fast when required, especially fast when aided by a spirit.

Yay, work!! And I even get to bring the Great Lady... thought Glacier, except his thoughts were in Norweigian. He had been spending the night in yet another Coffin motel, just trying to eek out a meager living. Touristville, on the edge of the Redmond Barrens was one of the more forgiving neighborhoods for him to hide out in. If you didn't mind the Mob vs. Yakuza vs. Sepula gang wars going on. At least there wasnt that many children of so called high society people running away from him screaming "monster, mommy, monster...AAAAHHHHH!!!'
Most of the time everyone left him alone. But he usually tried not to make the mistake of staying too long in the same place. The problem was, there was only a few coffin motels that could accomodate him. Being a giant in a human sized world would always be a challenge, and many were the days that Glacier cursed his goblinization.
But tonight was not one of those days. Today he could go out and channel all the anger and frustration and need into his favorite thing...DESTRUCTION. At least from the sounds of the call from Meg. It seemed strange to Glacier that the quiet woman from the park last week would call upon him, but he was not about to question the source of work. Besides he got to bring out the Great Lady.
Hustling down the row of coffins from the one he had rented for his great bulk, he stopped in front of a more normal sized one. Looking around with great care, Glacier removed a stick from one of his pockets. Being so big, the stick helped him punch in codes and access numbers, dial phones, and other touch related tasks. Punching in the access code for this particular coffin was accomplished with the usual slow and careful mannerism that such a task required of the large Meta. Finally, after three attempts, the coffin door opened revealing a long black plastic case and his combat axe lying somewhat haphazardly on top of the case.
Pulling out the Axe, Glacier checked its edge, noting the Dikote hardening was as sharp as ever. Lovingly leaning the combat axe against the wall beside the door. Half sliding the case out of the coffin, Glacier opened the case to check over the grenade launcher that he affectionately called "The Great Lady".
The coffin slot was barely big enough for the two weapons, and he only had one clip stored here. He knew enough to know that putting all the ammo in one place was bad. Very Bad. He briefly considered grabbing more ammo, but Meg had told him they were on a tight schedule and he wasn't sure he could get to the meeting place on time if he stopped for more.
OOC I'll let you have whatever kind of ammo you want here chummer, but one clip. PM me if you have any questions.
Closing the case back up and sliding it the rest of the way out of the coffin, Glacier shut the door and reactivated the code. He had paid for it for a month after all. Shouldering the combat axe, the large meta made his way to the back exit so as to elicit less attention.
It was still hard not to attract attention however, as he looked like nothing less than a large metahuman on his way to war. The grim set to his facial features, though representing a grin at the prospect of battle in Glacier's mind, represented nothing less that a fierce, threatening scowl to the rest of the world. This served him in good stead over the next hour or so, as he hoofed his way north to the Snohomish/Redmond boundary, then north east towards the address Meg had given him. Anyone who saw him stayed well out of his way.
Being big was good for one thing though... he thought to himself as he covered the open but rubble strewn streets in great bounding steps. Kind of reminded him of hunting with the tribe back home...Keeping an eye on the cronometer on his cyberwatch, he guestimated that he might just make the meet on time...

((Little Meg is making Glacier's phone bill grow fast.))
OOC: I move @ 3m/combat turn (or 60m/Min or 3.6kph) and run @ 12m/combat turn (or 240m/min or 14.4kph). Why? and it might be faster if you picked me up as you know where we are going.

Flying within the city limits is wonderful - at night else you get shot down.. she takes a spin around the yard - like skating, Meg laughs - zipping around at about 20kph - but she needs to meet Glacier.. She has the message in her portcomp so they can view it together.
Slowing to a halt she speaks out to the spirit - hide me from eyes upon the street.. in the air make me fleet..
She kicks off under the protection of the spirit, doing around 60kph - over the wall, zipping up to rooftop height - skimming above the roads walkways and lighting posts - staying within the boundaries of the air - navigating the shorthop to Glacier's location - quicker than she thought - five minutes.. then one or two to pick out the towering shape - and come to earth nearby. Meg is not letting the fly spell go yet.
she lets the concealment fade and smoothly slides up to the giant
Hi Glacier - told you I wouldnt take long - here, while we wait for contact - have a look at this message - this gives us about an hour to get out there and about an hour to collect the goods before Knight Errant arrive in specialist force - and weve still got to get out of there and stash the vehicle - if we can get it!
Transport - I can move us at treble your run rate - thats jogging at about fifty to sixty - but would you be knackered after an hour of running ? your'e too big to fly. We could borrow a truck..?
