Hello all,
I recently moved away from my long time gaming group in Austin (TX), and moved to the Dallas area to be closer to my kids, so I’ve kind of been out of the gaming scene for a year or so and haven’t established a new gaming group.
To try and satisfy my cravings I ran a PbP (play by post) game on Yahoo with my old buddies, but real life got in the way (as is most cases) and the game was shelved.
Just found your site by pure luck. I recently found out that there was a new version of Shadowrun out (4th) and it sparked my interest and so I started rummaging the net for all things Shadowrun to curve my appetite, but most sites were outdated or not working at all. Mostly I was looking for PBEM groups or various online avenues to run/play since I’m new to the Dallas area don’t really know anyone to game with here.
I was pleasantly surprised when I came across this active and current site. I have been playing/running table top SR games on and off over the last (8) years or so; 2nd and 3rd editions, but mostly 3rd. I really love the genre but never was a big fan of the rules. They seemed to muddy up the role-playing experience (being so complicated), especially when it came to Rigging/Decking (and to some extent Magic) to the point it seemed most people would avoid playing them.
So when I heard there was a new version out that boasts “simplicity”, I really wanted to try it out. I don’t own any of the 4th ed books so until I get my grubby little hands on one, I don’t think I will be able to participate at the moment (at least not in a 4th ed game).
At any rate I wanted to pop in and introduce myself and say “hi”. Also, I would very much like your feedback on the 4th ed compared to 3rd. What do you like about it? What don’t you like about? What are the major changes?
Until then…a toast…
"Friends, here is to another year in the sprawl, where the ambrosia of the gods is laced in the shadows. May we spend so many more together enjoying this nectar."
p.s.
If anyone knows a good, mature gaming group in the Dallas Metro area that is looking for players, please let me know.
