Have a look at the Cascades - a bread-and-butter run..
I am having a look at how 'stuff' works and how it affects characters and game play
Currently, fighting in the dark - and how well your enhanced lowlight/IR vision and implants work... I think the players are cheesed off with the vile limitations.. but you will come across this sort of thing and need to realise that sight enhancements do not suddenly allow you to see perfectly well in the dark !
So why do teams like to skulk around under cover of darkness? - because the opposition can see just as badly as you - unless you make preparations.....
Buy IR handbeam and IR goggles shares - there will be a flurry of purchaces soon...

Hoi chummer,
Maybe I can help. Can't tell you the goals of other rooms or what they are working tyoward but I can tell you about room 9 so you can make a decision!
Shadowpavement, "Hey, Could someone give me the lowdown on how PbP works. I'm expereinced with shadowrun and I'm pretty savy, but this is my first PbP experience and I'm trying to get as much info as I can before I do anything stupid. *grumbles* stupid no one other than me able to run a game around here.....*grumbles*... "
Pelch, "Play by Post as a concept is very easy to do. In reality, you're right, it's harder than it looks. In room 9 we are running an experimental change in the way Play by Post works. The other Play by post moderators have their own styles. The rules we use in 9 for play by post are here:"
Rule 1: This game is for FUN! If it ain't fun for you then it's a chore and you don't fragging belong here. If you want to learn, enjoy some give and take, ain't afraid to step up, then you're in the right place. Make your own dice rolls. You know if you were successful. If you're not successful be honest enough to take the bad breaks and write the outcome that way! Another words; you come to a point you need to roll, make the roll, abide by the results and continue the storyline with the outcome. If you get too many fragging success's we are going to know you're cheating and then your going to be kicked. Everyone on the Boards will be notified, because with cheating comes punishment and consequences. Don't betray my trust and you're standing. I'll be watching. The dice roller should be in the room if you want to use it.
Rule 2: Players can enter or leave this game at will! You are not locked in. Just, at the very least, let people know your status. All OOC:s will be done right IN the game so if you see a problem, have a complaint, ask a question, we can all participate and see the answers. While I am the moderator and do have final say, I don't intend to trample on anyone's right to say what they want. We may not always agree, but at least you Can say it.
Rule 3: Insults among characters, humor, jokes, put downs, insults are all welcome between characters. Insults to actual players? Can be cool if both sides are agreeable and not likely to take it personal. If it gets personal and you don't like it, politely ask the other person to stop. If they don't I get involved and someone may get booted. It's pretty draconian I know, but the game is not fun if the flames are taken personal.
Rule 4: You're all encouraged to make moves, as often or not often as you feel capable. Real life is out there chums and we can't always be here. Accidents happen suddenly and machines break. I'm not going to remove anyone unless you haven't said a word in a long time, we're talking months here, omae! If you know you got a problem OOC: so all know. Now your encouraged to help build each other up, put words in other characters mouths so to speak if it is in their characters previous style of play and it doesn't hurt them. So if your out encourage others to keep your character in play for you.
Rule 5: The GOAL of this room, besides having some fun? Learn from each other! That especially includes me! New ideas, new ways of doing things. WE ARE A TEAM! We work to make the team better, we cover each others player weaknesses. TRY not to let the TEAM down. WE are ALL counting on you to contribute and leave a mark on this world. You can't do that if you don't get involved on some level.
Final Comment but not a rule: Johnson is still over seeing what we do. It's his board and he spends the Nuyen to keep it going. He has final say, no arguments with him. You argue with me, but his rulings are final and the argument STOPS there. He expects us to do things that reflect well on his work. As a result we always respect that goal and TRY to make his job easier no matter what we contribute. See you in the game.
Pelch, "Basically you read the storyline, omae. Various players put in clues and it is within certain establish parameters freeform. If you wander off the map, the moderator let's you know in an OOC and works to bring you back on track. He works with you to iron out bugs in the storyline. The borders and must do's of the run are given by the fixer before you start. Study the style of the other characters, watch what they do and then write in your characters style and interaction with them. It's hard to learn when you first start but if you stick with it... man you get GOOD! The big thing is KNOW your characters personality before you start. It saves a lot of time. Want a hint, make the character as close to you in personality as possible when you start. It is easier to roleplay if you have a bond with the character."
You got more questions, chummer? YELL them out! Don't understand something, FRAGGING TELL US! We want to improve our services and it's guys like you that show us what we missed. You see I'm trying to make it easier for people to get in and learn and start playing. That is what room 9 is all about.

Thanks Omae. I apreciate the advice. As soon as I get a chance I'll be sitting down and read everything I can in Rm. 9
So... where is this dice roller you say the boards have? I was actually about to ask how the dice rolling worked. I may just not be looking in the right place

Easy as Mayor Krass with a hooker, chummer! When you do a post in the room there is a small die icon near the top of the page. Just press that as many times as you need to roll the dice and it will come up with the numbers.
In room nine we need a Shaman mage, a decker, a rigger, a medic and someone with good repair skills. Just to clue you in advance. Not telling you what character to bring, just telling you some skill sets you might want to consider. If you have a car that would help. Mao and I need a ride! Be sure you start at the beginning of the storyline and read through. It will give you a GOOD view to work off of. Hope to see you there but you can enter two games plus as many as the UGR as you want. UGR games though are practice and you don't get credit for them usually, although Johnson is looking to change that. Stay lucky chummer.
