(OOC Wolflet Say.. Dancing Eagle - Peaches and Angel went to visit him on the return to Seattle - deep in the forest, tough to get to, but you do arrive at the meeting place. True to his rep, he doesnt like outsiders much, and as you arrive, stretching your legs before greeting you, he mutters something to the younger orc with him. then One-who-likes-Peaches ! good to see you ha ha! the air tells me that there are confrontations then there is you at my door Come my frreind, let us smoke and you can tell me all about it! Your companion is not ONE - she may sit outside my lodge but I cannot welcome her inside. The young lad returns with a box of Havanas and a case of beer... you get settled for the afternoon.. Peaches can see the reasons why Angel is kept at arm's length - pointy ears, female, and not a shaman, she dont fit in with Dancing Eagle's way of life or the people he looks after up here in the Orc Cascades.
The young lad is quite happy to show her around the area, gut some real fish held in a nearby catch pool - and put them on the fire to cook in heavy leaves - the smell is delicious..

"Damn, Dancing. You sure do know how to treat a chummer." Peaches smiles at Dancing Eagle--the seat, the beer, and the cigars. He takes one of each, plopping down on a seat next to Dancing. He cracks open the cold one, then lights up the cig--even offering a light to Dancing. For a moment, he sits there, letting the tickling nicotine delight wash away the worries and cares of the past few days. Finally he takes another sip of beer and glances over at the shaman.
"So, who's da kid? some kind of 'apprentice?"
Dancing Eagle shrugs. "You could call him that--my nephew. My sister insists I teach him. He has talent but" he makes an iffy gesture, "thinks he's Eagle's gift to the Sixth World."
Peaches grins. "Aww, I'm sure he'll come around some time. He's got good blood in his veins, ya know?"
A smile crack's Eagle's face. "You could say so. What about you, Ork-of-canned-fruit? Does one in your work take on apprentices?"
Peaches snorts. "Tried dat once. Didn't work out so well. I ain't got time to be babysittin' wet-nosed pups."
Dancing Eagle smiles but says nothing.
For a few moments the the two orks fall silent, watching the sunset while contemplating good cigars and cold beer. Abruptly, Peaches speaks. "So, you've probably guessed dis is a little more dan a social call, huh?"
"I figured as much. The air whispers word of confrontation, and you show up at my doorstep. Eagle does not believe in coincidences."
Peaches shrugs. "I might argue da point, but it wouldn't do no good. so I'll just agree wid' ya."
"So what is it you wish to know?"
Peaches takes a drag off of the Cuban before responding. "You ever heard of a Wendigo?"

Many years ago along the shores of the lakes lived the tribe called grey squirrell, they worked hard and stored away food for the deep winters. They were a brave tribe, who would fight off raiding parties in the snows and beat them back, because they were healthy and nourished by their stocks gathered in.
Now one winter, raven's eye looked onto their stores, so he whispered to a thrush raiding party to sneak in and burn down one of the storehouses instead of fighting. Raven thought he could then feast on the unwanted provisions from the squirrel clan. The raid went well - too well and one after the other the store houses each caught fire, the thrush braves stared in alarm, their chests reddening in the glow of the fire, but that is another story. This left the squirrel clan foodless in the depth of winter, and soon their greed grew, spurred on for by the loss of their hard-earned storehouses, and their bellies grew empty. They fought each other over the scraps - scaring away Raven who was the life-bringer. Until only those with the strongest magics remained, strong through consuming others in the tribe, and the weak ran off into the forest where you can see them still. The greed did make them strong, able to survive harsh winters, but when they tried to come to trade, others could see what they had done, were afraid and threw fire brands at them, shot at them with arrows and cut them with their blades. The Wendigo, creatures of greed and famine took this fear and fled into the dark forest in search of their kin, and are hunting still.
A sorry tale, the remnants still roam the forests, feared and shunned by all.
That's the tale fruiticious one, the reality walks out of legend. fire wood and metal weilded by warriors will harm them, and the full gaze of man can return them to the earth. They weave magics and fear, but have become bestial. They turned their backs on Raven so despise life, some say they fashion their victims into unliving things. Closest thing the forest has to vampire.
Why do you ask? Running Moon mentioned there was a big brother in the company. Be careful Sunshine-in-a tin, strength and guile are not enough to defend against these spirit creatures, you must have a strong inner resilliance in order to stand up to old magics, or cultivate protections of your own.... seems like you are back in biz. My advice is, each to their own, you take out the physical and let them deal with the spiritual
the afternoon sun warms your limbs, the sound of bumblebees a smell of baking trout, a couple of beers and a fat cigar in good company, ah ! what more could a fella want - Oh yeah.. she said on the fone 'back by midnight' three hour drive, leaves, yeah, loads of time...

"Yeah, me and some chummers tangled wid da spirit or whatever of a Wendigo 'dey killed before. I didn't do dat much, but wid' all of us dere, we managed to take care of him. But, y'know, dere was a couple 'tings dat was bodderin' me.'Dis spirit 'ting summoned a bunch of Eart' elementals, right? Well, after we busted 'em back to hell, 'we found dat dere was gold and gems and drek inside of 'em. What gives wid' dat? You ever heard of any'ting like dat?"((Oh, and my appologies to everyone else for highjacking the thread for my own purposes. )) Some spirits are asked to come, others dragged kicking and screaming and forced to labour for their masters. Spirits of the earth are usually forced to perform a service. From what Running Moon whispered to me, the earth spirits were big.
I would expect to demand one or maybe two tasks from such a spirit before my control of it ran out, and it raced back to its own hunting grounds, but it sounds like these were not in thrall, not bound in service, but rather working for the Wendigo mage as they were performing a lot of tasks.... ?

Angel only manages a humph (while the player experiences a bit of a flashback to her second worst gaming experience), but offers little other protest and waits outside. She sits at the edge of the lodge and closing her eyes, starts to listen to the conversation about the wendigo.
(Wolflet Say.. you are all sitting outside of his wooden lodge - a big log and branch thatched structure - with carved eagles around the doorway looking at you with beady eyes.. and yes, the 'boys' are enjoying themselves, leaving you twiddling your thumbs ... maybe Peaches could help you with some absorbingly interesting hermetic research at a later date...

"So what, you 'tink he bribed 'em into service or some drek?" Peaches asks. "I didn't know elemenatls were into jewels and gold."
((After this question is answered, we can go ahead and wrap this up so that it doesn't interfere any more.))
He would have to be able to access the earth in its true nature to do that, but it would seem to fit, how do you gain a lot of help quickly, you hire someone on to do the job, you pay them in something they value too, earth spirits understand valuable stones and metals, no paper or electronic cred for them.
If the Wendigo spirit was linked to the earth like the stories of vampire - then it makes sense. Its physical form is killed off, its spirit has to reside somewhere, and is able to travel to many places as long as it knows where those hidden places are. It gathers up a band of hired help - paying them in metal and stone, things of value that they understand.
Another way of bargaining with spirits, why not tempt them instead of ordering them. You would have to be close to them too. Is there a greater link between the earth realm and vampire than we thought, certainly seems so. It is something I will follow up, though my realm is sky, there are others who will know better.

Peaches nods knowingly. "Yeah, it does make a kind of whacked out sense, huh? Okay, 'tanks omae. I know some folks who might be interested in da tale you just told me." He stands up and stubs out his stogie, giving Dancing an appologetic smile. "Sorry to drink and run, chummer, but da little lady back home wanted me dere by midnight, and it's already startin' to get dark. Plus, Angie out dere is probably bored stiff. You still got my LTG digits, right? You gimme a call if you run across some info, or just if you need any'ting." He chuckles. "And if yer every in my neck of da woods--which I know you won't be--you got yourself a flop to crash at, so ka?"
He extends his hand to the older shaman. "Next time, I won't make it such a long stretch between visits."

Ladies and gents - you are now beginning to explore the world around you, using your contacts, who are the guys who you know who help you out with stuff an info an give you a lead now and then when it comes their way. You could think of the rest of the group as contacts - people who know someone who can.... You are not alone! The more interraction you have with the others, bounce ideas off or buy kit for, the better understanding of Seattle you get.
As a result of your recent exploits, the word has spread through your contacts who are now listening out for biz from people that they know, on incidents that you may be interested in...

Shade looks over to FE "I've always been a b.y.o.s kinda guy, but if you can hook me up with a weapons dealer I'll gladly chuck 5 grand your way. Like I said my gear's gonna cost mounds of money. Without spending a dime I am already on a tight budget."

(OOC I was thinking wolf was going to play my contact when dealing with Meg. I'll do my best let me know If I don anything wrong Wolf or take over anytime)
Shaun looks over at Meg after he is finished the deal with Micro. "Well I got a few formulas. I don't really have high force ones I usally sell the focuses and spell formulas mostly. If you look on the shelves you may find what you are looking for or have a permit I could see what you have in the back, I've seen Micros permit 100 times." Shaun looks over at Micro still not sure of Meg. (Level 1 to 3 are on the shelves.)
Micro sees Shaun's looking at him and adds a bit of help Megs way. "Shaun this is Meg I said you can trust her, she did save me from a wraith." Micro turns to Meg and ponits out the area foci formulas are at. "Why don't you look at the shelves."
When Meg goes looking around the shop Micro does his best to get Shaun calmed down. "Oh great I should have took a shoping list and got the stuff myself then got Meg to pay me back after." Micro thinks as he remembers getting older kids to buy him smokes.
Mag can easyly find force 1 to 3 of formulas the rest need permits this is why Shaun has got tense, Meg is new to Shaun and this store is his life so it may take some time. "Look Bud She did save my life I would be a Wraith puppit without her help. She is on the level."
(I don't think dice roller is working yet but will try Charisma roll (4 dice TN ?) to help get Meg a deal. roll for me Wolf I'm sure you got dice at home.)

Angel looks at the beady eyes of the birds falling upon her and shuts her eyes just a bit tighter. She should be safe enough, this close to the men. She slips free of her mortal body, and it seems to slump in its spot. Soon she is sailing above the treeline. Practice made perfect, so she decides that if she can't join Peaches in body, she would attempt to do so in spirit, so she goes to stand behind him. ((second worst gaming experience, ooooh do tell Angel.)) (Wolflet say.. I hope I 'm not to blame.. Sorry Angel, as you tick no boxes with this male orc shaman - you dont get an invite! Nope, Wolflet, not to worry in that respect. My second worst experience was back when I was a teen playing D & D. There used to be a place you could go and find a game to play in, after paying a nominal fee. I was playing a female half-elf, if I recall correctly, and the game started with a water voyage and us on board a ship. A smaller boat containing a party of monks came to get the party to take them...somewhere. However, because the character was female, the monks wouldn't allow her to go with them. She stayed on the ship, and did absolutely nothing for the rest of the game. I think that was the last time I went to play there. (OOC Wolflet Say.. Phew* Dancing Eagle looks at you behind Peaches as he tells his story - or rather you feel he is linking into myth and it is telling the story through him.. The Mountain-man exterior fades into the form of a muscled young orc warrior feathered edgings along the back of his arms and a beaked helm - almost Aztec - or old Amerindian for sure. The lodge is painted up in reds black and a few other brief licks of green blue and yellows, with two big eagles aside the doorway, not wooden , big spirit eagles, with peircng rather than beady eyes You both listen to the tale - as he finishes, he indicates you should return to your body.
