Gunther and Xeno went back to the hotel, While Jorinda and Seer kept guard at the store, which involved watching the camera feed, watching Ed eat and sleep and trying not to fall asleep.
At 6:45, Lance arrives at the store. "Good moring to you both, so how was the night? I hope Ed wasn't too much of a problem...Now go rest up, last night wqas shaky around here, I hope tonight will be calmer."
He put a copy of the local paper, the Snohomish Herald,on the counter, the front page title was very visible
"Firefight on the farm: 4 dead, 6 injured, 1 arrested in failed home invasion attempt"
Too tired to read the rest, you made your way back to the hotel. As you walk back, a white van makes it's way down the street and park in front of the store. A human, 30-something jeans, bomber jacket, both beard and hair not combed or trimmed steps out, looks around and knock on the door. Lance opens up, and he seems to point the hotel. The human waves at Lance, and leans on the van, waiting for something.
================= At the hotel, Gunther and Xeno gets the wake-up call from the front desk at 7. After a shower you get down to the dining room around 7:30, where Jorinda and Seer are enjoying breakfast. They show you the paper and talk about the man in the white van that came around after they left.

"Bad news." She mutters. "And it seems Lance is withholding info from us." She tells them about the man she'd seen talking to Lance and pointing him to the hotel. "Maybe he's going to check in." She shrugs. <grunt> <mumble> <yawn> <stares off into the "void"> <grunt> " That guy is mine. Reinforcement. A Rigger I thought we might need. I gotta get some air. My Comm is live and on me so call if anything fun needs to go down." I will walk outside, go to the Soy-Shack, and talk with my Rigger.

The headline on the paper catches Jorinda's eye, and she grabs one off the stack by the front desk (many hotels have complimentary newspapers for their guests) and reads it while she has breakfast, which for her was cereal with soymilk, soycaf, along with a piece of fruit, a rare treat in Seattle, but not in short supply in a farming town like Snohomish. For some, a morning meal, for her a snack before bedtime.
The news was grim indeed, and while it would barely register in Seattle's papers, here it garnered front page headlines. She reads the list of victims, trying to see if she recognizes them, and barely notices when the Seer comes to sit with her, also holding a newspaper. But she does notice when Gunther and Xenomarch arrive, because things get suddenly quiet when they show. She looks up from the paper and hands it over to them. "Bad news." She mutters. "And it seems Lance is withholding info from us." She tells them about the man she'd seen talking to Lance and pointing him to the hotel. "Maybe he's going to check in." She shrugs.

Post by Braddoc on Jun 23, 2006 16:36:49 GMT -5
Jorinda: The deceased are not named, mostly because they were SINless gangers from Redmond, You do spot the name of Billy O'Connell as being 'lightly wounded after being attacked with a knife', and an old man, Mr. Jameson for sure, who was 'sequestrated but safe, only taking a few bruises and a nervous shock for the events.' one Jim Roberts was also arrested for 'possession of a firearm without a permit and assault with a deadly weapon'
Reading further down, you see that Roberts is going to be surely released, since all evidence LoneStar have points to a case of self-defense and defense of property. He must the be big Ork you saw last night, leading the others.
"This is not the first time that individuals from Redmond have come to Monroe to cause trouble" explains Sargent Hollard of LSSS "But it is the first time it has ended with deads" When questions about the rumor circulating around Monroe and the Greater Snohomish area that a possible agricultural corporation might be responsible for the presence of those thugs to force farm owners to sell their farms, Sgt. Hollard set the record straight "Our department does not possess any evidence of hired thugs to intimidate the local population. Like you said they are only rumors, and until we can get evidence of such actions, they will remain only rumors."
============== Xenomarch=Arriving at the store, The human smile in your direction "I've heard about cybertails, but I'd never thought I'll see one for real, I thought that Yorgi was bulldrekking me..You're Xenomarch, right? I'm Blicks." He extends his bigger than average hand in your direction, waiting for a shake "I've been told you're in need of a rigger for surveillance, lucky you I started my 3 weeks vacation...it is boring doing nothing all day or what? So, what's needed to be looked at? Cheating spouse, unloyal employees...hope it's not just fields of soy you need to keep an eye on, or you better pay for the soycaf hahaha!""

Jorinda reads the paper. The Orks kept insisting the gangers were from Redmond, and the story seemed to prove it. But the suggestion that they were trying to force people to sell their farms? That was a new theory, and one she wouldn't put past the megacorps. They often used such tactics. Question was, which corp? That could be something worth looking into.
But if Lone Star wanted evidence, she would be more than happy to try looking for it. It was always fun catching a corp doing something naughty.

Now... I hope it still is boring Blicks but I wouldn't bet on it. It seems that Remond Gangers like to hit poor snohomish every once-in-a-while and this Soy-Cream shoppe has a potential target on it. What I need you to do is give me and my team as much advanced warning of any incident that might effect this estabishment. It's a 3 day job, pays ¥2000 and all the soycaf you can stand."

Blicks smiled "So want me to check the front huh? Yeah it's alright. can stay rigged-in for a good 9-10 hours before taking a few hours to cool down and rest. I can start when you want, now or later it doesn't matter to me. I can keep an eye on the town, the farms near-by and maybe even venture in Redmond, but not to far in, they might be gangers, but some of them are pretty trigger-happy..not to mention than some even managed to get a heavy weapon or two." He took a handkerchief from his pockets and blew his nose a few times "Arguh, damn allergies, always around when you don't need it..anyway, I got a head comm, you can reach me at 978.3 MHz, or I can change the frequency to march yours if you have one." He taps a few times on the white van he was leaning on "I can control my drones from inside the van, I'll move in out back if I got the OK, that'll attract less attention. Oh and don't count on me to help you if drek hits the fan; I got a light pistol and some training, but I don't have any armour short of my armoured t-shirt here, I'll protect myself, but not the others, ok?"

"As soon as you pick up this mornings paper. There should be a copy in the store. Oh... my employers devout wish is that there be no wet-work, but I always think about the worst case senarios so as to not be suprised if the drek hits the fan." I will let the two of us into the Soy-Cream Shoppe and give a brief rundown of the situation as it stands. I will also introduce Blicks and Lance so that Lance is up to date. Also reminding Blicks that he works for me and only needs to report to Lance if I'm not available (i.e. dead).

After the meet with Lance, Blicks will move his van behind the store, and launch a drone "I'll look around for a few hours, I"ll call you when I"m done..let's say, around noon?"
(dunno if anybody wanted to do something around town for the morning and rest of the day, if so post it)

After getting a bit of rest, Jorinda heads to the soycream shack around noon. There she sees the Rigger Blicks and pulls him aside after the introductions are made. He was just the person she needed to talk to, and there were few guys that could resist talking to a pretty girl 'in private'.
"So you're a rigger, hmm?" She says as she takes a seat. "So can you do a little hunting?" Better to let a pro do it than spend cred on rented and often unreliable equipment. "I've been hearing some stories that some Ag Corp might be interested in the farms in these parts. I'd like to find out just who that might be. Maybe the Redmond gangers are on someone's payroll. "
Jorinda sits back up again. "So, you up for the challenge?"

Blicks introduced himself, despite looking like someone who haven't slept in a few days, he was very courteous and his eyes were not going that far south.
"Yeah I'm up to it..actually I was about to inform Xenomarch about what I saw on my first recon around the town, might as well tell you and you can just inform Xenomarch and the rest of your team"
"From what I saw there's not alot around here. There's a LoneStar CSI team up at a farm about 5 miles from here, from what I saw form the local paper, there was a shooting last night. Since this is only a local store I doubt they'll bother us, but cops are cops."
"I did a little probing in Redmond, I even saw the wreck of the plane that when down a few decades back!" He looked quite proud of himself, but quickly went back down to his report "Anyway, most of the gangs closer to Monroe seems to be laying low for the time being, but chances are they might get more active tonight, using the darkness to move around. I did saw a few vehicles that were not covered in gang colours, but I had to bring the drone or have a front row seat of a crash"
"I"ll take an hour off then I'll launch another one" He get out a pen and a piece of paper writing something "My commlink's at 978.3 MHz, if you don't have one, here's my phone number, just leave a message. Now if you'll excuse me, I"ll go grab something at the diner..Want to join me?"

She knew the truth of that statement far too well. She'd been harassed more than a few times by the Star without a real good reason. Jorinda takes note of his frequency and phone number. She considers his invitation. She'd had breakfast a while ago, but then again, if she kept him company, maybe she'd garner more info from him. She looks at the others gathered at the soycream shack. "So, who's got the next watch?" She asks. Once she has their answer, she will give Blicks hers.
