OOC: "Because it may be a hell hound and they are nasty."
OK I didn't get the opportunity to continue the storyline tonight as I am still settling issues. This does not mean you can't be doing some of your OWN character development. HINT HINT.

OOC: Let me jump in here with my .02 American.
1) I live in the Pacific Northwest, and our Max has one subway station, a very notable one. To quote Wiki "At 260 ft. (70m) below ground, Washington Park is the deepest transit station in North America, second-deepest in the world." The deepest is only about 102 m (334.6 feet), and in St. Petersburg, not Seattle.
2) One mile is 5,280 feet. Multiplied by 3.5 miles, it's 18,480 feet. Why would they dig that far down to put in a station? Building a subway is a major expense and undertaking, they wouldn't do something that unnecessary.
3) It's not uncommon for an ST to do something WITHOUT showing the players a roll. I've had my characters actually suffer some bad things, all without seeing the roll, and only a PM from the GM tipped me off as to what had really happened. Sometimes things are done to advance the storyline.
4) At this point, expogue, you have a choice: Either leave, and find another game, or work with the ST. You've stalled this game far too long...all for a simple dispute.
And personally, I think getting your place approved probably wouldn't be as bad as some of the hoops I've had to jump through trying to get a character accepted to someone's game....

OOC: Pelch, "Thank You Angel. Your input is greatly appreciated. Just a quick note of interest. The game is not in reality stalled. Why? This is an instruction, learning, history thread. Many times we will stop in our storyline to make clear what is going on in, around, and behind the scenes to display some of the give and take that happens in any thread. We are trying to give those lurkers, ghosts, and followers some idea how things really are working as we work through the story line. You see many times members of boards like this hide problems behind the scenes and the players on it get no information. They hear rumors of in fighting, feuds and attitudes without getting the real story. We fully intend to air our dirty laundry here and listen to comments from anyone who wants to make one. None of us are God here and everyone should be subject to some review. Many times we will be stopped to deal with game mechanics, the whys and wherefore's and how decisions are made. The best part is Johnson doesn't have to depend on my viewpoint in what I tell him is happening. He can actually see what is said if everyone wishes to be seen. Give expogue credit for bringing his complaint out in public, just his method of doing so needs some work. We as a group will even use this thread to openly discuss where we are heading in the storyline. The nice thing is anyone INSIDE or OUTSIDE the thread has a say. You see this thread is experimental. It is not a normal, by the rules, Shadow run. We are all feeling our way. Doing research to actually try to find a better way of doing this. We may fail, but we are expeimenting. Not every experiment is a success, the Flame channel is a glowing example of that. I probably should have never started it. It gave too many wrong impressions. Sometimes even the moderator will open the door for critique of what I am doing and suggestions for improvement. (I might not follow all of them but will certainly consider them in relation with what I am striving to create here.) You see one of the BAD things about playing a game like this is to find a balance between the need to move the story along, while still including some dice rolls, real life problems, with plenty of descriptive and informative text for decision making by the players. How much is enough? We are working on that as well but it does take time to build a really good history with lots of documented background. Unlike most face to face games, we have to do a lot of this in a new way. As we are showing everyone, this is not an easy adjustable, smooth and comfortable process, especially when you deal with people from differing backgrounds, cultures, and languages. We struggle to find common ground in many ways. "
"So where do we go from here? Well, once you get past the emotion and anger that is generated from not getting what you want, you take the bull by the horns or you walk away. Now my view is to not mess up the storyline by goofing up or contradicting what has been already established in the storyline. Davik's Hideout will continue to be on Z street because it is an excellent location. Now it being in a good neighborhood will require some creative writing. You see we CAN afford a very nice hideout by EXPANDING on Davik's history and background. The OOC' stuff will go out the door in favor of making the hideout more adaptive not only to the group but to it's surroundings. (That means those BOMBS go.) Now since there is no subway in that immediate area, and the storyline backs it up, then we will have to change somewhat the view or people perception of it. We can do that with some detail in our writing. Like most things it will not be done all at once, but a little at a time, as Mao suggested in his 24 Hours allusion. We will start that process when expogue realizes what is going on and consents to it, or decides to leave. He still has a couple of decisions to make. In this thread we do have time."

um. Davik already said, that it is NOT 3.5 miles DEEP.
the tunnle is 3.5 miles LONG. he said it is subway level which is about 100 feet down under ground.
now to Davik. as for the rolls. i have already figured this one out. we are not dealing with one runnign group, we might not be dealing with 2, we may be dealing with three!.
there is us. There are the retros. if they wanted the palce bugged, they would hire another group to do it. they have actually hired other gaming groups by fatman or eon emailing the gm. Eon is the fixer. if another group did a run on yoru place, dont expet to see those dice rolls., jsut like if we were to do one on the retro;s place......they wouldnt see ours unless the fatman was runnin it and we were all in the same area.

OOC: Pelch, "Well Krondax, deep or just long Angel is correct 3.5 miles is a lot of tunnel. Especially in a down town area. Like I mentioned previously you can't be tunneling under the other buildings either and by being closer to the surface in some ways it makes the bomb situation and scanner situation worse. Now how do I want to try to work around it? Well we COULD make the tunnel a little more circular and go down maybe about 30-50 feet max. My plan is to ADD to Davik's history first. You see he states 5 years ago he was a mercenary and got disavowed and has been two years coming back. Sure he got left for dead but it leaves a lot of possibilities. His organization left him for dead, believing he was dead! Then a year later they 'discovered' he wasn't. Not wanting the mess to become public they 'arranged' to finance his hideout in return for his silence. This way Davik could have had to only put 7,000 NuYen into it, the rest was paid for by his old organization. This would explain adequately Davik's low resource level and yet his Bike and Home as being several levels above. The next part will be to start showing it's features and how and what he has in it. This is where the major work comes in. Are we using Ares pressure sensitive detectors, or Aztec, radar scanners? Cost are different of course and so are prices. Now Davik stated he only has one tunnel going in, that pretty much eliminates a subway. We will stick with that. His old company bought a building there, but the basement and parking area was secretly modified for Davik's use. This explains his 3 inch door, which is now going to be disguised and camouflaged. We, as in all of us contributing ideas and work in our storyline, will also work with Davik to determine the KIND and Complexity of the lock that was PURCHASED. In each case we will take this step by step and document the costs, type and style. When we get done, Davik may actually have a better home than he conceived. The best part is his water is drinkable in this area which was raised in one of the other games where he uses his hideout. I didn't miss that either. "

"Well, since there is no other business, I'm going to do a little "shopping" " she says as she gets up and walks over to the tabel where her helmet is. STuffing her hair under it, she puts it on, and sets up the com link. "Going to go and have a chit chat with someone about my bike."
With that, she turns and walks out the door, disarming it as she climbs aboard her bike and fires it up, peeling out of the tunnle and barely avoiding a car as she tears out of there for the shop.

OOC: Pelch, " EXPOGUE, I would suggest strongly, that you stop trying to tell people what they CAN or CANNOT discuss in OOC on THIS thread. You are NOT the moderator of this thread. I am being very patient with you both here and in your emails but if you cannot control your anger and attitude then I suggest you take one of the three options I have been trying to get you make for the past several days. Now make up your mind! I will continue to have these discussions privately or publicly with you for as long as you need to have them, but I will not keep letting you blast away at anyone who wishes to make a comment. You started this in public. You have continued it in private, and now you bring it public again. Shall I post some of our private conversation here as well? Make up your mind what you want Either work with me or not as the mood takes you but stop continuing in the idea that you are the moderator here unless you fully intend to exercise that option."

OOC Just a side note...I looked in three sourcebooks, SR 3rd edition, Seatle and New Seatle, and none of them indicated to me that Seatle even had a subway. Am I missing something?

Hi Boombaby.
Maybe real life? Just kidding. The REAL Seattle does have a Metro line which is something like a subway I suppose. That is the closest thing to it. Fatman made mention of it a while back so I checked it. It runs with Westlake Center Mall as the Hub, It goes North up about as far as Denny Park Way and downward into the International Center. That is the closest thing Seattle as to anything like a subway. Some parts for short periods do run underground but not often due to the water table.
This is from their Metro Site:
Seattle Metro operates a fleet of about 1,300 vehicles -- including standard and articulated coaches, electric trolleys, dual-powered buses, hybrid diesel-electric buses and streetcars -- that serves an annual ridership of 100 million within a 2,134 square mile area. Metro serves riders who are disabled with accessible fixed route service (all Metro buses have wheelchair lifts or ramps and all routes and trips are accessible), as well as paratransit van service and a taxi scrip program.
In further research, while Expogue may say there is a Z street in Redmond in his books, real life maps don't seem to back him up. Redmond is made up of NUMBERED roads or they have actual names like Penny Lane, Old Redmond Road, W. Lake Way, etc. No where on any map I have found does it list a Z street in Redmond even when I drill down to street level maps. Even a direct search for Z Street, Redmond Wa. doesn't seem to produce ANY map with Z street marked on it. The only Z street is in downtown Seattle. There is a Z Building in Redmond but I suspect that is not what he is referring to. Since we are using my maps for my game of Seattle my prior decison stands.

ooc" well, from a different run that i took. We fought ghouls in the sewer area, and took a subway to get there. also learned why you really want to double check your char sheet if the GM finished it off for you.
