OOC: Pelch: "I had permission problems the last few days and couldn't get in or even look at my mail in here. Hopefully that is fixed now, but I am still unable to see the moderators room. They're still working on that. Let's deal with this stuff in order:
OOC: Krondax, "so what is our course of action though? we still going for the hijackers?"
OOC: Pelch, "That's Davik's call. We are still waiting on him but as far as I know that is still what he is planning to do."
OOC: Mao, "OOC: Where is the dice rolling thingamabob? And how does it work? Do I insert dice rolls when i wish to "try" something like"
OOC: Pelch, "When you do a regular reply if you look above the emoticons you will notice to the far right a dice symbol. Just press it the number of times you roll the dice and it will put it in your reply. Yes, you use it when you want to 'try' something."
OOC: Davik: "So someone with access and the pass codes would be the most probable perpetrator."
OOC: Pelch, "Learning time Expogue. Let's make this clearer for you. First you yourself gave a possibility and it MAYBE looks like you answered your own comment? Is it the correct answer? You have a blind spot, Not every spy has to be HiTech to get through your defenses. Why could we not be bugged astrally as well and under observation that way? The possibility was suggested early on that the Star may have bugged Pelch with a watcher spirit, Dom himself brought it up. No one acted or checked out the information, mainly because we lack a MAGE. It is still a possibility. Now considering the Retro's are working with the Star? Both have High powered magical assets as well as money and access to the best runners, best tools and top professionals, this hints and shows that there are too many ways they could have and did get in. The line they gave you was a hint not a knock down. They are telling you that you have to do more than just assume your security is impregnable. They have even said THEIR SECURITY is not impregnable at their level. So in the face of what you are dealing with, Lone Star, the Retro's, Dom, Nestle's, Tony who is magically active!
Even Dom has suddenly seen the need to upgrade HIS security and his original security was much better financed and handled, and documented than yours. (So if Mr. Johnson agreed with the Retro's that his Security wasn't where it needed to be with his overview, what makes you think your's is?) So now, there are at least two possibilities of penetration. There are many MORE! Isolation and security by obscurity have been proven not to work. Also we both know that scanning for bugs, IS NOT LIKE changing a light bulb. Not everyone does it or is capable of doing it properly. There are several ways you have to go about it and several types of bugs to look for. Something I did mention in previous posts as well.
(Another Clue) All of this stuff you have requires time, resources, talent, maintenance, repair parts, etc.! If I take time to show my character in the shower, with everybody supposedly taking a shower every day, then I have just given you a hint that I need to see some of your routine actions as well. You are one man, and you have to show me where you spend your time, not make me guess what you are doing. I am not ASSUMING what you do, I want to SEE what you do in all this spare time you have as others move about. You have to be ready to write more than just, I shot this and fragged over that! You have to moderate it with some realistic downtime. Even in the movies you can many times see heroes doing NORMAL things. This seemed like a good time for you to make it clearer exactly what some of your established routines are in writing but don't assume that it is impregnable, ever! When establishing a security routine, it is a GOOD idea to have it down in the story line. Now if you had stated anywhere in it that you scanned every other day, at different times of the day, with different detection routines, you might be detecting something. The first RULE of ANY game is if the GM or Moderator didn't see it happen, it didn't happen. We are also building background and history much of which has been assumed and is NOT documented fully. It leads to a lot of assumptions. Assumptions that GM's or Players take advantage of. The trick is both sides have to agree before it is ESTABLISHED as fact. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions here on your hideout that are not backed up by the facts that I can find and they are one sided assumptions that other players may consider to be unfair. Before I made my last post, I looked at your character sheet and history sheet. I did find a LIFESTYLE of LO: Area-Z-ST, Com; Hgh, Ent: Low, Fur: Hgh, SEC: ST SPC: Mid with a cost of 7,000 for your area, that's pretty cheap for all the stuff you say you have, don't you think?
Sure I am going to question it a little here. Now with a really LOW cost like that, the Security or Com is NOT going to be unbeatable by people using state of the art professional help and tools. Heck your BIKE cost more than your Security and as far as I can see doesn't do half as much as you claim for your hideout! It can be bugged or stolen and how many times have you left that on the street, like at the meeting with Vankler, or at the local McBeasts or at Dom's which is under watch by several of the BIG players as the story line has pointed out not once but several times? You may have carried a bug in yourself! Or it might be on Widow's Bike! How about Mao. You bugged Pelch, who says someone else could not have bugged him again without his or your knowledge? Again you make assumptions.
YOU SAY you have all this nifty HiTech stuff in this one way Tunnel with a huge special locking door, High explosives scanners, detectors jammers, encrypters. All dug 3.5 miles underground, and you call Pelch a Thief? Scanners, detectors can be fooled, jammers do not always work on every band and if they do what about your neighbors if they are that HIGH powered? They ain't going to be happy either. There is no such thing as a passive non detectable jammer!
NOWHERE, do I see where you got all this stuff you say you have in your hideout, when you paid your measly 7,000 for it or even how you managed to quietly setup and maintain all this stuff in the first place without alerting anyone else around you of it's existence. I have more info on your bike than I do on this special hideout. This may be something Johnson will want to take up with the character specialists! The installation of the door would have been a big problem and what about the hole that was dug here. Even IF it was pre dug there would have been squatters and beasts to move out of there! Not an easy task for one dwarf with 7,000 NuYen in my personal opinion. While I see you did setup a hideout and paid 7,000 NuYen for it, that ain't near enough for what you claim to have. So while I do not deny you your hideout, or your rolls on what you think your defense are, AT THIS TIME, I am going to hold in question your LOGIC and background on this and will make my own TARGET NUMBERS on what I THINK they are as is my privilege until it is established. The second rule you need to know? No player see's all the picture that a GM see's. A players view is LIMITED while a GM can see all the things happening in the game, a player will never have the overview of the total operation that a GM has. So excuse me if I dispute your hideout as being as impregnable as you think it is, until I get you to the point where we have it documented enough in game that you can prove it to me, I don't have to consider it so if I see things in it that contradict my opinion of it. Now while you have a contact that can get you anything! You still have to pay for it or be used as a POGO stick.
